  • Lazy Meech and I climb the first 5 pitches of Astroman (Astro boy) on south face of Washington column. It was a windy day, and when the sun dropped over the top of Washington column it got very cold (at least for me wearing shorts). We never made it back to Astroman after this day to give a proper attempt so hopefully next time we are in the valley we can give it a go. Nevertheless I still felt proud to onsight the enduro corner pitch which was the most technical of the pitches on Astroboy. I recommend to anyone that is interested in Astro but isn’t ready for the all day experience to take the bite size chunk that we did. It was a really fun and pretty layer back experience knowing we weren’t going to the top.

Pristine rock. Beautiful. What is the corner rated?

The enduro pitch is damn pumpy and the end is hard. The 10C before the slot is well worth doing before you do the full thing. It is not very cruisy.

Was hoping to see the 11c boulder problem on pitch 2! Way to go though...
