  • Hello and welcome back to another Camp!
    Today we're Camping in A very stealthy bright orange survival tent... I broke the bank with this one at a whole £8. We have some freeze dried food on the menu...oh and did I mention it was a little bit cold out?
    Thanks for watching and all your support!

    Wrapping a bit of duck tape round some something, you could have wrapped it round your finger securing the wipe. Happy new year

      If only I had any kind of tape with me haha. Could be worse I could have forgotten the wipes too! Happy new year!

    I always carry one, along with 12 large paperclips. Firstly I paperclip it from the out side to the ridge line over the shelter. Then I use some paperclips to clip one end toghter. I have clipped the other end toghter leaving it open at the bottom for air. Makes it a whole lot warmer. I sit up in mine back against my pack it's warmer.

    You remind me of Prince William a bit! Anyway, it is funny that I came across your video on this emergency shelter because I was organizing my shed today and came across one of these I bought many years ago still in the package. I thought to myself, would I risk my life to this thing? After watching your video, I probably would. I did add an industrial bin liner and a small space blanket to the package. It is light and small enough to keep in a my day pack for day hikes. Great video! Thanks.😊

      It certainly did what it needed to, I just hope I’m never in a situation when I really do need it! Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!

    Wow such balmy temps, it's -30 here. That's why my SHTF bag I always have with me when out of doors, is basically a well packed infantry Bergan. Yes, it weighs a bit but I can survive my weather. Put a couple nails in your kit, to be used as tie off points. Saved me a lot of hassle, in those inconvenient spots. Make a "coozie" for you FD meal, it helps keep the heat in and can be used as a insulated spot for your head at night!

    • @CampingwithCraig
      @CampingwithCraig  Рік тому

      Hmm, I think 0 or -30 would be an issue regardless in an emergency but I know which one I’d pick all the same! Had to look up what SHTF meant, assuming it was some sort of proper camping term haha. But yeah good shout with the nails must attempt to remember that! Thanks for watching!

    All that shelter really needs is about 4 or 5 decent clothes pegs on the ridge line to stop it sagging or rolling down.
    I have seen these in green/camo pattern. I might have a good with one.
    Cheers Craig 👋🏻

    That survival shelter would be better if it was closed at one end. It wouldn't be good in rain at all. Even better taping at one end and using like a bivvy bag in extreme weather? I can't imagine it being comfortable this time of year as heat will just pass out either end. I keep a few spare sandwich bags with me to put my power bank, cables and any other electrical into if I'm concerned they may get wet or even damp. Even when being transported in my backpack. Enjoyable video 👍

      I’m grateful it didn’t rain for sure, I’d agree that it would be better closed up, but it was surprising how much warmer it felt inside. Maybe it was psychological haha. Maybe in the future I’l do it again but make adjustments to it! Good shout with the sandwich bags and thanks for taking the time to comment!

      It certainly did the bare minimum of keeping me alive, but there’s a subtle temp difference between being in that Orange monstrosity and outside! And yes yes I’ve ordered one not 10mins ago, otherwise I would of forgotten for the 38th week in a row haha

    Happy New Year Craig. Love your channel but if you keep this up they will find you in a frozen heap. You need an EDC with you which includes plasters. You have to make sure you are safe at all times. It’s great entertainment but your safety comes first. I remember chipsticks but not the yogurt thing. And pick ur feet up when you walk🚶🏾‍♂️⛺️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🩹🚑

    You should have made a fire mate and then put the tarp covering your top and one side opposite the fire so the heat reflects of it. I think that would have been more comfortable. Anyway we live an learn. Keep on camping.

    Also.. other super cold weather tips.
    Put water in your pot, if it freezes no problem. Put your gas in your bag or else stick it in for a few minutes before you get up. Keep your batteries in your bag because they'll just die in the cold and finally get those chemical heat pad things. They stay hot all night

    • @CampingwithCraig
      @CampingwithCraig  Рік тому

      Yeah the gas was freezing over earlier in the evening but it was ok inside and most of my electricals have a box but if course not the main camera! And I was looking for those Hot hand things but couldn’t find them anywhere! But I’ve lived to tell the tale haha

    I wish they'd ban those so called survival things. In a real situation, with no sleeping bag, thry only work in a very limited way, and they don't teach you what that is!
    Pro tip for random cuts, spider Web placed over it will stop it bleeding, as will super glue if all else fails!
    Nice vid mate, good effort :)

    • @CampingwithCraig

      I think in a survival situation I’d rather just keep moving than use this… but who knows I very much doubt I’ll ever be in such jeopardy haha.
