Once again a Master Class on layering, texture, decoupage, stenciling, stamping, painting and best of all fun. Ok and can we all thank Martyn for the delightful sea music at the end. This piece just made me joyful and happy going into another New Year. Happy 2025 Everyone!
After reading your comment I went to watch the end of the video.... And yes your right marty picked the perfect music.... I never watch my videos but marty does an amazing job of pulling everything together x
You do it to me every time 🤣 I wasn't all that interested in mermaids but NOW....that was absolutely beautiful and the music and the close ups at the end were the icing on a smashing cake. Only one thing...there wasn't any scraping 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Sending love and best wishes for 2025 🧡🧡🧡
I love this especially the reverse decoupage on glass. I've been removing dresser drawers and replacing with glass doors. I reverse paint on the glass. These are my best sellers. I've tried decoupage on glass but I'm not that good at it and never liked mine. I wish we were neighbors, we have so much in common.
Well, If i can ever save enough money beforeI'mtoo old, I'll hit you up. I'd love to, my ancestors are from Wales, thats in your neck of the woods, right? You can visit me, Ill take you to Yellowstone Natl Park @MadebyMarley
What a WONDERFUL and unexpected Christmas gift! Oh my goodness, I love Mermaids and this one just blew me 'out of the water!' Non stop tutorial that kept me at full attention. I always wonder how you always have most everything you need to create your pieces. Perfect stencils, stamps, particular brushes, decoupage papers, mirror spray, and last but not least, the jewelry needed, perfect knobs that go so well with the design! I know you plan in detail the projects you are going to do, but do you also order things you need and then wait until they arrive, or do you already have them? One thing I struggle with is finding the stuff I want to use that is somewhere in my studio. It takes me so much time to find that particular stencil, transfer, whatever, that I want to use. The searching alone exhausts me.... Do you have a system so you can find stuff easily? I do really hope that you and Martyn are enjoying some time off, really relaxing, being with you family. You two are workaholics, hard to imagine you giving it up even for a couple of weeks. So grateful for all you do for us. Much LOVE, Sydni
Happy holidays sydni, your correct I start my plan generally always using what I have... However sometimes I don't have exactly what I'm looking for I had everything but a mermade scale stencil. I ordered the very cheap set I used from amazon and often I'm happy to add things now and then to my Stencils or equipment . The organisation for me is a fine line, I have everything mostly I need I don't over buy because that's money sitting not being used for example I only have 3 sets of transfers at any one time. My go to before I begin is to draw out my idea at the kitchen table..... This is detailed listing paint and everything I need. I go to the studio and lay out the paint, look through my stencil drawers which are well organised and find what I need, it's the same with my stamps I keep them in trays and they are split into categories that only probably I understand to enable me to look quickly. Everything else like equipment I gather and then I lay it behind me out of the camera shot .... I think although I have the capacity to hoard I tend to buy what I need and try to keep the studio reasonably stream lined for speed. Organising your space should be what you understand it may seem strange to others but if it helps you find that item fast then it's a win. I definitely think the trollies I purchased for my stamps and Stencils gave really helped me and the paint carts have made things easier. The thing that takes time often for me is making a decision on exactly what stamp I want, what exact thing goes with my piece.... But as I said I generally do this at the table while having a coffee as I know what I have. I hope this helps love Lel x
I thought from the beginning the choice of the furniture piece was perfect because of the round edges adding to the watery flow. Love the way you used the essence of the sea, scales, drips, coral texture, mirror for reflection and colors. The sunny orange inside with the painted and decoupaged doors is a happy surprise.
Dana, thanks so much I'm glad you were able to pick out all the elements I used to pull this together.... I appreciate you seeing my thought process Lel x
WOW SO LOVELY!!! the Mermaids and the colors, textures... I love it 😄.. The water element shines through... Thank you for a lovely video, sharing your art and explaining as you go.. You make it seem so easy.. Have a wonderful New Years 💖 blessings
Love my friend! Daring and beautiful! Thank you for sharing the need to add depth w like colors, not black or white! I’m going back to a few projects that deserve that special touch. Katie from VT
In the beginning the 'ugly stage' found me with raised eyebrows but I was guessing where you were taking it and I guessed right 🤗 Love the orange POP inside! A fun piece! 🧜♀️
Oh, Lel and Marty, how wonderful to see the outpouring of your creativity. Underwater theme I'm really looking forward to getting back into my wee studio. Much admiration and love to you both, for the New Year Jx
It’s beautiful! Colors are great. Knobs are perfect. I need to find your courage. That piece was so perfect before. I am always afraid of messing up reasonably good usable pieces. You don’t even blink. I loved the border you stamped around the edge of the glass. Thank you for sharing your work. I love every piece and learn something new every time.
Hmmmm I guess I know my customers and I know what I like, I don't like white furniture so in my eyes it certainly wasn't perfect, and my customers wouldn't buy a white piece of furniture as there's no art in that. I think you sound like your cautious in case you make mistakes.... I get that it's normal. I very quickly got over the fear as mist of the time it's just paint and if I don't like it I always new I could fix it. Start with smaller pieces or boards to gain your confidence. I have been doing this a long time and I think if you saw some of my first pieces or had spoken to me we would have thought very similar things... I think this if you aim for perfection you will never be happy... If you aim to enjoy yourself and have fun while painting some furniture art it becomes a diffrent prospect. I have faith in you, you need to trust your process. Love Lel and thanks for watching and leaving a kind comment x
I've been looking at reverse decoupage lately but this piece puts the others to shame! It's fabulous and I love it. I have to work on my low and highlights. Thank you for the great tips. 😊 Have a happy New Year! 🎉
So cool!!! I have an OLD china cabinet that I just didn't know what to do with the ugly glass door... NOW I KNOW 😃 Reverse decoupage is exactly it! I also have the perfect Made by Marley papers for it ❤
I can feel the mermaids taking me for a ride 😂 Hope the hang on cause I can’t swim😀 I love this❤❤❤. The texture, the layers and colors are work together to make this piece magical ❤
I love this piece and the way you can see all the beautiful nautical colors, the scale designs throughout, just something different every time you look at it! A real under the sea vibe and magical with the mermaids! The colors and design play so well with each other. Almost can feel the sway of the seaweed beneath the water! Love those handles. They remind me of shells and go perfectly with this piece! The idea of using it in a bathroom would be ideal! ❤❤❤❤xxxx Super job! Happy New Year and all of life's very best to you both Lel and Marty, as well as all your loved ones!❤🥂🍻🎉🎇🍾🎉🎆❤
@MadebyMarley Yes relaxing and quiet. Have been on pain meds and muscle relaxers for s bad hip and back!! Good news though, as my granddaughter had a reveal party on the 27th. I couldn't attend but saw the video and she is having a little girl in April! Another granddaughter is having a little girl in June and had her reveal party a few weeks ago! That will make 5 great grandchildren! 3 boys already, and now 2 sweet baby girls coming 2025! So those were the best Christmas gifts! 🩷🩷
That was so much fun to watch. I loved the layers ad the reverse decoupage was magic. What stunning colours. I’m painting my front door at the moment and have been playing with colour and layers using the Bungalow transfer and your tip on highlights is really helping me with that. Thanks for sharing.
Mermaids rule! Staring at future projects is an actual designing technique. It works. 😊😊😊 Living next to the ocean gives a whole new perspective of the aquatic and the mysteries of the deep. We've had 30' waves pounding the shores, surfers love it 😀.
Oh it's just a random painting.... I'm working on... I love faces in a modern style... I love mogiliani and always like to draw a long neck and play with proportions.
I hope this is video you did weeks ago; you're supposed to be on a Christmas holiday/ vacation ( cooking for 1000's of people) 😂😂😱😱😂😂😂. I'm going to just sit here and let you blow my mind with your❤❤❤ prodigious imagination and talent ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey, Lel. I'm one of your earliest followers. I'm Canadian, but I find myself back in Geordieland as my Dad is stage four cancer. I watch your UA-cam videos every week to touch base with my creative side as I used to teach art and dramatic art to kids, particularly those with special needs. As I'm so close, I wondered if we could touch base as I could use a time out with crayons. No pressure or expectation. I have no idea, as I'm of a certain age, how to figure out how to privately contact you. Again, you don't have to. However, I needed to tell you that you have been an immense influence on me and the kids I am lucky enough to spend time with. I've moved them from crayons and being forgotten, to auctions for our collective efforts on Sally Bash finds. Happy New Year, and thank you for being generous enough to light a fire that has spread within my community xx

Yay! Thank you! Ha ha I pondered scraping with a chisel.... I wish I had now.....
Oh wow!! The drips of watery blue paint really made me think of water leaking from the seams. Beautiful!!
Thank you! Cheers!
just love this the texture and layers do make big difference and loved the defining round edges of doors ❤
Oohh yes, I love making things pop with colour x

Yes I did it before Christmas Elena, I'm still on my holidays x x x
Do you ever spray paint the black on?
Yes sometimes but I couldn't be bothered to tape it off.... 😁
I had been at it for 3 days and just went with the flow x

Hey there, email me Lel at
Sales@madebymarley.co.uk
And we can set something up x
Is it possible to use gold or silver leaf with reverse decoupage? Or does the back of the leaf just look dull?
Good question Elena and your quite correct the glue used makes it kinda milky..... But you can paint it gold, or spray it gold.....
🌞🌞🌞
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
You do outstanding work but this is not one of my favorites. To me it’s way too muddy.😢
So you thought you would tell me 😂😂😂
The yellow has white behind it. It looks like a fried egg😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha ha ha I thought that omg.... We are on the same wavelength ha ha ha
