thanks for taking us along. Was fun to go with you. Never been to Dillard House. We have been to Georgia a couple times. The food did look good. God bless ... fun to watch this. Kendra
My parents loved going to the Dillard house . We went almost every summer and stayed at the Inn when I was a teenager 50 years ago! I haven’t been back since but your video brought back some great memories. I remember back then not having your own table but sitting at long tables with other guests too. I’m sure next time you could ask them not to bring out whatever you don’t want. Thanks for the video, I’m going to make it a point to return to the Dillard House!
Thank you so much for watching, and for sharing your memory. I'm glad it brought back fond memories for you. Yes, you definitely need to make a trip back.
That looked liked a really good place to eat. I really like family style and especially good southern country cooking. The chicken looked really good. Thanks for the review.
Derrick's sweatshirt has me a little weepy. We lost one of ours two weeks ago and I still can't talk about her without getting choked up. Great video, guys! We've been to Dillard many times on the way to or from Franklin, gem mining but we always stopped at The Cupboard. We'll have to try this place!
So very sorry for your loss. It's just like losing a family member. It's been 5 years, and I still haven't gotten over losing Pierre. He was my best friend.
What a memorable day. Hope you did not get to tired on the drive home. We struggle with being too sleepy after a good meal. Thank you for the beautiful pictures from your drone and video camera. Music paired with video was perfect.
Thank you so much for watching. No, the drive home wasn't too bad, since it was under 3 hours. We both took turns, so it was okay. We got home about 10:45. We're normally still up then, anyway. So glad you enjoyed the video. The drone captured Whiteside Mountain in a way that we could not have otherwise seen from the top of it. Next week, I will be working on a video of JUST drone footage from various mountain areas over the entire month of October.
My husband and I was there a few years ago. Was delicious food. We also sat by the window with the view of the mountains. We also like The Smith House in Dahlonega, Georgia. The mountains of North Georgia are always a nice trip being that we live in South Georgia. God Bless You.
Thanks for watching, and God bless you as well. Yes, we love The Smith House. We've been there twice, but only done one video there. That would have been from Black Friday weekend, of 2021. We were in Dahlonega for the lighting up of the town.
I was just now going through some cookbooks and I found that I have a Dillard House cookbook. I had given it to my mother years ago and after she and my daddy passed away I got it back. I will have to read it. The book tells you the history of the family and how the restaurant got started. I thought it odd how I had seen your video earlier today and the first book I picked up was the Dillard House.
Wow, that is really neat! Thank you for sharing that. I didn't realize they had a cookbook. We plan to be back in that area in a few more weeks, right after Thanksgiving. I'm going to check their gift shop and see if I see one of their cookbooks. Not sure if they still sell it, or not.
Another great food review. Beautiful area in my state of Georgia. Looks like you had a fun filled weekend and enjoyed your travels based on the other videos you posted along with this one. Hope both of you have a Blessed Week.
Blackeye peas , either you love 'em or you don't. I can eat them but I don't order them out often. The ribs and chicken looked great. Glad yall enjoyed your meal .
I’ve not gone here, even though it’s about 20 minutes away. It’s just me, so it seems a little bit of a waste for so much food for just one person. I might have to just go anyway. It’s kind of an icon here. So many have made it a tradition, since it’s been open. Looks like a very nice place. So neat thst the family has managed to keep it going all these years and in the family.
I called them. You can take a plate if you don’t finish it all, whether it’s one person or two and even if you get more of. Item or two. So that was good to know for me, because I was afraid of not eating it all and warring.
I understand what you are saying, about it being a lot of food for one person. I would kind of agree with that. Maybe next time we are in the area, it will work out. But yes, if you do get an opportunity to go, maybe with someone, I think you would like it. Their fried chicken is excellent.
Really enjoyed this episode guys,, nice place to eat, thanks for the tip 😃, y’all need to try the Depot At Cody Creek in Dobson NC, they are very good & should be getting their Christmas lights up soon. It very affordable & food is excellent! Thanks again
Well, I would like to have had mashed potatoes with chicken, myself. But in fairness, these potatoes were quite good. I guess it's nice to mix it up a bit.
I wonder if they cater to tourists who haven't tried southern cooking. I wouldnt order some of that stuff either but if you are new to it, you might like it. Black eyed peas and greens don't look appetizing but I love them. I had shrimp & grits at a restaurant in Ames called Cornbred and it was amazing. However it looked less than appetizing. Lol. But, yeah, if you know you don't care for it, you shouldn't have to have it. It contributes to a lot of food waste.
The food waste, is kind of the point we were making. We simply could not eat all of that food they brought out, and we would have done much better if we could have just gotten the things we like. We plan to be back there in a couple of weeks, after Thanksgiving, and I'm going to ask them if we can choose the sides we want.
you have me laughing about the blackeyed peas. I don't like them either and honestly I like A1 on my steak also. My husband teases me that it is an insult to the cook to put steaksauce on a steak. I tell him that it is an insult to the cook to put sour cream or mayonnaise on pretty much everything...ha our inside joke
I completely agree with you. I do not know why so many people get so upset with me about A1 on a steak. It's not an insult to the cook at all. It's no different than putting barbecue sauce on ribs. To me, the flavors compliment each other. And yeah, I honestly grew up in an area where black eyed peas are a thing, but I had probably not eaten them in over 25 years. Thank you so much for watching. We are glad you enjoyed the video.
They probley had a fancy cooker - that doesn’t know how to cook southern food - trying to make the food fancy - Great review - yes it is a pretty - it’s still worth going to - totally -
I would like for you to let your wife finish a conversation without you consistently interjecting your opinion. No need to 'hog' the conversation. Also, let us spend more time with you guys actually eating. This is what I like in foodie videos. Check out J&B in the hills. They don't spend most of the video talking about the food. Show us more of the actual meal! Just my opinion from central Alabama 🙏
Just my response from western North Carolina... My wife and I are not on a script. We routinely interject something that comes to mind when the other's talking, and we both do it, and we're both fine with it. That's how we roll. If I think of something I want to say and don't want to forget it, I'll interject it. She'll do the same. And on that note, you picked a very odd video to make this comment on, since this is the very video that I looked at her at the end, and joked with her that I didn't mean to interrupt while she was interrupting me. The fact is, she had just done the same thing you're complaining to me about. So again, it's kind of weird that you picked this video, instead of another one to make that comment on. If we are not bothered by it, why would you be? What does get a little old, is that I can see when someone makes a comment, how many times they've commented on our stuff. This is your first comment. I mention that, because we have faithful viewers and subscribers that are always commenting, and usually saying nice things. If they offer a constructive criticism in a polite way, we listen. However, the vast majority of criticisms we get, are from people who have only commented once. We don't pay that too much attention. And also, we are not trying to be like any other channel. We like their channel, as well. We've met them. They seem very nice. They can do things how they want to, and so can we. That's the great part about UA-cam and having so many people who do videos like this. We are all different, and we all have our ownunique style. And there's nothing wrong with that. You, as the viewer, get to decide what channels you will watch or don't want to watch. But we are who we are, and we are not changing for anyone. And some people don't really like to be filmed while they're eating their meal. Taking an initial bite of everything is one thing, but I personally do not like to watch people chew and swallow, and breathe loudly when they're eating. I do not like to see them talk with chewed food in their mouth. I don't wish to be filmed doing that, either. Thank you for understanding our perspective.
thanks for taking us along. Was fun to go with you. Never been to Dillard House. We have been to Georgia a couple times. The food did look good. God bless ... fun to watch this. Kendra
Thank you for watching. So glad you enjoyed it. The food there is really good.
We love Dillard House our church seniors go there often . Since we are east of Atlanta in Ga.
It is definitely a great place! And I don't blame your church group one bit for going there. Some of the best chicken and ribs around.

Yes, this is a really nice place in a beautiful setting. The chicken is some of the best that I've had.

GOOD EATING,,,,IT HAS BEEN SINCE LATE 60s and 70s,,SINCE HAVE BEEN THERE,,,,I WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK SOON
We absolutely loved it there. They have some great food. Glad you have gotten to try. Hope you get to make a trip back there soon.
Great video . Would love to go there. Thanks for sharing with us .
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching!
I love your honest reviews of restaurants. I just found your channel and so glad I did.😊

Hard to beat the Dillard House! For sure one of my favorites. I need to be rolled out of that place.
We know that feeling. We were stuffed.

Thank you. Yes, it was a wonderful day. You have a blessed week, as well.
I like the looks of the place. I agree about the amount of vegetables, it seems a choice of four is plenty.
Yes, absolutely!
Been a long time so nice I’ve been there. Jarrett House in Sylva/Dillsboro. Was similar to this when it was open.
Blackeye peas , either you love 'em or you don't. I can eat them but I don't order them out often. The ribs and chicken looked great. Glad yall enjoyed your meal .
Yes, it is a great place. I have never been a fan of blackeye peas. I had pretty much forgotten what they taste like, until this meal.
I’ve never been a fan of black eyed peas either. The beautiful view from your table was breathtaking.

We've been to The Depot several times. We have a video review of it, from March of 2021. Thanks for watching.
Enjoy
Yes, thank you. We were actually there back in October of last year. It's a great place.
Looks yummy, but no mash! Need mash with fried chicken 😢. Not a big eater, so too pricey for me. Beautiful scenery 😊

You weren't far from me when you were there I'm in Otto NC
Oh, wow. That's really neat. Beautiful area.
The food looked delicious. I would get the country ham and not the ribs.
I would like to try their country ham, but we were so full we couldn't hold anything else. The ribs were outstanding. Thank you for watching.

Isn't it hard to mess up Black-Eyed Peas ??..... Or is it you're just not fans at all of 'em?
We're not fans of them. Never have been.
