Hanging from a bar changed my life. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't fix you right away. It took me 6 months of it to get back to normal. In the beginning there was a huge shift, like an arrow was being ripped out of my shoulder, and then I would get waves of it in the months after. Each time I thought it was done I would get another shift. What I did is I would do sets of the hanging in combination with sets of dropping down into a deep squat and just sitting there. Those 2 things together are a killer combo. One resets the upper and one resets the lower. When you drop down into a squat, flex your glutes and feel how that opens your hips and gets you deeper into the stretch.

I have had moderate to severe shoulder pain for almost two years from work injuries. I've been to doctors and denied workers compensation About a month ago I came across this video. I started doing shoulder exercises by following your instructions in this video and went from shoulder pain at virtually every movement to about 80% pain free. Thank you for sharing your info and educating us. Have a great new year God Bless

@@dingdong6005 Does the clicking hurt because mine does especially in right shoulder. Also feels like a tendon or muscle moves in my right upper arm that is not situated right. Worst condition to have. Went to therapist and learned my pain starts from neck then leads to upper back and then to upper right forearm. Not sure if I will ever recover from this.

I injured my shoulder lifting weights the first week in January 2020. After the injury occurred, I iced it and took Ibuprofen. Then, I started doing the shoulder stretches you guys recommended in another video. Just this week (3 weeks later), I started doing the hanging exercise in this video at the gym. I can't believe how much better my arm is! The pain is almost gone. You guys are awesome!!!! Thank you!

I’m a true believer in doing dead hangs. I have had shoulder impingement for 10+ years. I’ve seen a sports medicine doctor, a chiropractor, and a physical therapist without any relief. I started to do the shoulder hang as recommended by Dr Kirsch and felt relief after a couple weeks after doing it daily. I then had a serious medical issue that kept me from hanging for three months. Last week, the pain of shoulder impingement came back. I restarted doing daily shoulder hanging and within a couple of days, the shoulder impingement pain began to lessen.

And honestly, I noticed a major difference after only a few days. I bought Dr. Kirsch's book, but the program is just what B&B say here; the rest of the book is explanation/illustration of the change in the joint, plus some testimonials for motivation. Just do it!

I've suffered mild shoulder irritation in both shoulders for over 5 years now. Door frame stretches were recommended by my chiro, and were successful at keeping the situation from worsening sooner, but were completely ineffective at solving the issue.
About 2 months ago, my shoulders started getting a hell of a lot worse. I'm a truck driver and i need my shoulders to be functioning effectively, as the job i do can be quite physical. Can't work. Can't earn. My wife and i are building a house at the moment, and we've got a little one on the way.... So as you can imagine, the old sphincter was starting to palpitate a little lol.
Luckily i found a really good physical therapist, and he informed me that one of my shoulders was very near to freezing up. His method loosened things up considerably for me, but after a few days things started back sliding a little.
Then i found one of your videos on alleviating shoulder pain using the hanging method, whilst recommending reading Dr. Kirsch's book to get a more detailed understanding of the potential issues involved, and the process to hopefully correct those issues. I was pessimistic, yet curious and cautiously hopeful. I bought the book, and gave Dr Kirsch's method a go.
It's been about two weeks now, and my injury is definitely reversing, and has improved MASSIVELY! I have very little pain when using my shoulders overhead now, and I'm experiencing a massive improvement in joint mobility and stability. I'm very near to being back to full strength, with a full range of motion, and my shoulder almost isn't even an issue at work anymore.
At home, my shoulder would ache and throb at rest when lying down, which impacted heavily on my ability to get a decent night's sleep, and as of tonight that has all but subsided.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that anyone suffering from a similar condition, give serious consideration to attempting this therapeutic approach as I'm pretty certain as things stand today, that I have narrowly avoided a Workcover claim and imminent surgery. VERY HAPPY with the results.
Thank you very much Dr's Bob and Brad (and Dr Kirsch too lol). If i hadn't seen your video and your recommendation to read Dr Kirsch's book, i would be in a considerably worse place right now. Thanks again.

I fixed my severe shoulder pain of several years by lying on my back and doing very slow "snow angels", pausing and holding when the pain was great and then continuing on as the pain resided. Took about a month to fix. For those who are nervous about the hanging, it may be an alternative. Wish I'd know about the hanging, though, I would have certainly tried it!

Completely pain free for the past five years. That was after two years of severe pain that made it hard to even sleep. My injury may have been different than yours, I'm not a doctor, so don't take this as medical advice, but this is what worked for me.
Lying on my back with my arms straight out to the sides, arms always in contact with the floor, I'd do the "snow angels" movement, slowly moving my arms into a position where my shoulders hurt, leaving them there until the pain subsided, then moving them some more until it hurt again, until I'd gone through the whole range of motion until my hands touched above my head, still in contact with the floor. When I was done it felt no better, but I did it again the next day and the next and over a month's time the pain went away. I kept at it even when it didn't seem to be working for the first couple of weeks. I continue now to keep my shoulder joints limber by stretching them out twice a week before I lift weights. There is still some clicking, but as I limber them up with a stretchy band, the clicking mostly goes away, and I never experience pain any more. By the way, I'm 61. Good luck!

At 50, I got shoulder pain on both sides. I was working anyway and practising jogging. But since the pain was limiting my work capacity, I visited a couple of doctors. They didn't help. At least, I was not offered a surgery. I used to practice sport intensively when I was younger, so I know things about my body. I got the feeling I should do pull ups. I had not done any for a couple of years. So, I installed a pull up bar in my garden and I started working on it. My shoulders were limiting me. I did only one pull up the first time. But then 2, 3... up to 9. After a few sessions, my shoulder pain was gone. There is also something easier than pull ups that I do : I hold a wooden bar (previously holding curtains) above my head. I make it move back down, up and front down 10 times. Then I make it swing above my head still. I keep holding the extremities of the bar during all the process. Bye bye pains !

This was excellent video. I've had shoulder pain for a few years now. Went to the rheumatologist doctor, had ultrasound tests and they couldn't find anything wrong, yet I had a lot of discomfort in both shoulders. The doctor had no suggestions for me, and that was that. I just viewed this video and did the exercises shown and now my shoulders feel very much better! Easy fix!

    • @argyle6674

I thought I'd give an update to my original comment. My shoulders have been relatively discomfort free since I've started this stretching. I'm 67 years old, and now able to do my exercise routine of calisthenics and can go back to doing pushups! Had to stop doing them before because of the shoulder discomfort/pain. Just started again and up to 8-10 pushups and hope to increase that number in a few weeks. I'm doing the stretching holding on to the top of a door wearing gloves for about 15 seconds a few times a day or when I can remember to do the stretching. And it really has helped me. I'm also a musician and holding my instrument was difficult because of the shoulder discomfort, so that's improved as well. Thanks.

This really works. I've had an incomplete tear of my supraspinatus tendon for about a year and a half. I've spent months doing conventional physical therapy without too much success. So I started doing PRP injections on the tear and got much better but I still had the shoulder impingement that caused the tendon tear in the first place. So out of desperation I looked at the internet for some way to get rid of the impingement and found the doctors book on amazon. It had a lot of positive reviews that actually seemed to come from real people so I bought it. If you are going to really do this method you will need to get some wrist braces off of amazon that have hooks on them to help with your grip. Getting rid of the structural problem is what you are trying to do, not increase your grip strength. But to sum it up, buy his book and read it. Follow his methods and it will fix your shoulder like freaking magic. His methods really do work. I wish I would have bought this book a year ago. It is the real deal.

I don't know what's in the book but I made my bar from a wooden clothes rod; the type that's in bedroom closets, and is available at most hardware stores that have a lumber department. It can be installed in a doorway, since these usually have structural support that you can screw the brackets into. I'd advise metal brackets, though I'm using the plastic ones, which work fine with me (I'm 165 lbs).

Hopefully, between a better stroke, more pineapples, and your exercises, I can minimize my shoulder pain. Am now a subscriber. Keep up the good work, and thanks again.

I've been so frustrated with shoulder pain the last few weeks and stopped lifting weights because of it. After over a month with little improvement I found your stretches and within two or three days could lift weights again, and now, about five days later, my shoulder's almost totally better. It was likely my hunched over posture that caused it. I also happened to have bad vertigo last week and found your home remedy that cleared it up without an ENT. So thanks so much for your help and keep it up.

FlyingOverTr0ut Dr Berg here on YT also says to massage the opposite calf of your shoulder for a few minutes and that would also reduce shoulder pain.

  • @Coloristherapy

Hi. I am grateful for your videos...found them after my Dr suggested I look online for PT. I have a question he didn't answer. My shoulder has arthritis, a small rotator cuff tear, Impingement (lots of fluid), and most of all is frozen. When I went to him, it was for pain in my arm, so much so he had an MRI done of my humerus, that was negative. Later, pain was evident in my shoulder and he did an MRI and found the above mentioned issues. I had reduced mobility all along which got worse over the months it took to find out what was wrong. I am doing the exercises you show for the frozen shoulder. Anyway, why does my arm hurt?

    • @TheUtuber999
      @TheUtuber999 3 роки тому

It will hurt during the exercise, but should provide relief afterward. Easy does it, though.

Had impingement in both shoulders. Used different docs due to insurance changes. One surgery done in 2016 and fine into this day. Second surgery done 2019 and just reactivated end of 2023. I’m shocked.
Will try this hanging stuff but I’m not hopefully because pull ups are a big part of my work out routine so I’m always hanging

Does this help with the much less common "internal impingement" as well? or does this only apply to the supraspinatus (mentioned in the video)? Could you perhaps do a video on explaining the difference between internal and external impingement and the difference in treatment?

Just a note of warning. If you haven’t had an MRI of the shoulder it is very difficult for anyone to give a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. A partially torn Rotator cuff or torn labrum can become measurably worse if not treated properly. Bone spurs can cause tearing of the rotator cuff . Repeated movement that is painful could be bone spurs cutting into tissue . Take caution when trying self treatment for extended or severe shoulder pain. You could be doing extensive damage to your shoulder.

My recent x-rays show no more cartilage in the left shoulder. I had plenty in a 2017 x-ray but as of 2 weeks ago, it's just bone on bone - and it hurts. Not sure if I did this to myself by weightlifting too heavy over the years. Would this hanging technique work for me or those with severe arthritis? I'm open to anything.
