My daughter (7) was gifted a kids set of makeup and nail polish and I just let her go crazy with it. She really likes her sparkly green eyeshadow and glitter pink lipgloss. I’m here for it. She’s exploring her creativity and I love it. I remind her every day she’s beautiful, makeup doesn’t define her beauty, and art comes in all forms. I’m not bothered by the green eyeshadow or glitter. Honestly, she motivates me to try bold colors too!! 😂 thanks for the coverage!

I’ve been giving my daughter make up I didn’t want from like my Epsie or boxy charms since she was like five years old. She’s 10 now, and still give her things that I don’t want. I don’t let her wear it outside of the house. But it’s something fun for her and I to do together. She’s been watching me do my make up, so she likes to do it as well. and now that she’s older I can teach her the importance of getting into a routine of washing her face and moisturizing etc. It’s kind of a bonding thing for her and I.

When I find that foundations have their shades mixed up, I am more inclined to give up on finding my shade and move to the ones that are in a gradient. It feels like they're trying to confuse us into thinking they have a nice shade range. It doesn't work.

I’ve seen a few Indie brands recently (2022 holiday season) that offered bundles but for the same price as if you had bought of those items individually. IMO, if you’re going to make a bundle and promote buying that bundle, there should be an incentive to do so.

15:24 the concealers formula is dependent on the PH balance and considering no one is experiencing irritation from the acidity of the formula i'm assuming it's simply not high enough to prevent bacterial growth. This is one of the reasons I got really into cosmetic chemistry, I work with probiotic bacteria and I want to understand how to properly formulate probiotic skincare in the future. It's so interesting!

Yeah this is what happens when you stop using parabens and other biocides/preservatives/antifungals that aren't considered "clean." Yes, there are ways to effectively preserve without these materials, but the pH of the formulation and the temperature that you add the preservative are much, much more important.

I haven't read the full bankruptcy filings that you're referencing mostly because I'm not sure where to find them, but I'm a CPA and former financial auditor and from a financial accounting standpoint "intercompany receivable from morphe LLC" would actually mean the reverse in that morphe owes Jaclyn cosmetics the $7.5M (if Jaclyn cosmetics shows an interco receivable morphe would show a corresponding interco payable to jaclyn c for the same amount). Usually an intercompany receivable for a retail company with inventory transactions would probably arise if one affiliate company transfers inventory to another affiliate company (i.e. JC transferring inventory to morphe to sell in morphe stores) or if one company makes a purchase from a vendor on behalf of the other. My guess would be that a good portion of the amounts due from morphe to jaclyn cosmetics relate to the first scenario where product was transferred to morphe to stock on morphe retail store shelves but then went unsold as of the bankruptcy filing date. I have zero proof of that course, just going off of things I've seen in practice, but it would make sense to me.

You know people don’t want to believe things about Saint Jaclyn even if it is clear 😂. Also the Auric plush lip balm is DELIGHTFUL. I had an allergic reaction a lip product and this healed the rash that was starting. It also leaves lips very soft. I’m African American so the color of the original isn’t the best for us if applied to heavily but the newer color is perfect.

I always review the items I buy because the incentivised reviews always bug me. I see them at Sephora *a ton* and it's so beyond frustrating when a product that hasn't even launched yet has hundreds of 5* incentivised reviews. I cannot even tell you how many incentivised reviews I've seen where someone says "I haven't used it yet, but it's so pretty! I'm sure I'll love it! 5 stars!" Or "I haven't received it yet, but I know I'm going to love it! 5 stars!" And those are definitely the most annoying/frustrating/irritating/pointless to me.
Whenever I look at reviews, I only ever actually take into account the reviews that aren't incentivised, and that are also verified purchases. I've literally seen reviews from people who didn't even buy the product, they just saw their favorite tiktoker talking about it so they "had to leave a review" 😳 😒and no, I'm not lying/joking/exaggerating.

And the judge clearly doesn’t know anything about Morphe if she thinks they’re going to be honest without being threatened with legal repercussions. Ooh, my daughter will LOVE the Zara makeup. She loves getting creative with makeup and I'm consistently blown away with her artistry and talent. Even my son loves to play with makeup and the idea of easily washed off products makes this mama's heart happy!

Honestly I think a lot of the foundation misordering is so people won't analyze the shade range and call them out. People won't make the effort but when it's a gradient it's obvious when the range sucks but this way it tricks the eye. I also prefer a gradient bc its easier to follow

I agree with you about the skin gradient charts online! I range from fair to almost medium; depending upon season. Not being able to compare your shade on a computer monitor is hard enough. But then, to add insult to injury; these companies have mixed it all up. What a mess! 🤷‍♀️

I would have loved that Zara makeup when I was a kid. The freedom to use color and make designs? I would have played with it until middle school. Then I would have started with simple makeup- lip gloss and skincare. Then towards the end of middle school and beginning of high school- lipsticks, mascara, maybe some eyeliner. Then I would have started with the artistic, fun stuff for night’s out at my friend’s house in late high school/ college. I’m a fan of brands doing this.

I want to mention something from one of your videos regarding BK Beauty brushes. BK Beauty is very generous with their PR to make-up focused content creators. They gift them to us, we genuinely love them and she gives us a commission if our links are used. I haven't made a penny from the links but I continue to use them all the time because they're so good. :-) Since they're so generous with their PR, I have no issues supporting the brand without pay. I know that was a question from a viewer and you were wondering what was up. Plus I love Lisa J. She's a fellow pro artist and I want to see her do well.

FYI, receivable means Morphe owes money to Jaclyn cosmetics :) A receivable is an asset on the books that says a company (in this case Jaclyn cosmetics) has a receivable (money owed to it) from Morphe. It remains a receivable until it's settled, or paid.
This could happen if, for example, Morphe sold Jaclyn cosmetics on its site but then didn't pay whatever percentage was owed to Jaclyn cosmetics. Not saying that's the case here, that's just an example.

I appreciate a gradient for any cosmetics but especially complexion products! I’m like you, I don’t care what order, I just need to see how light your lightest goes. Copy paper white? Yes please! The Fat Oil lip oil reminds me of like the oil leftover at McD’s for some reason. It doesn’t appeal to me 😂

Hi Jen, I don't have all the details, but if it's says Intercompany Receivable from Morphe, then Morphe owes them the money. It it's a receivable on the JC side, and then JC is owed the money.
I also hate how brands don't put shades in gradient order, it drives me nuts 🤣

  • @laikanbarth
    @laikanbarth Рік тому +2

I’ve noticed that with brands too. They are mixing up every shade of foundation!! It’s so irritating. I want the foundation lined up in a gradient so if one looks too light I could look at the next one over to see if it might match my skin better. Maybe they are doing it so you pick the wrong shade choice and have to buy another one? I will not buy one at all if I see them doing the foundation shades like this. It’s hard enough for me to find a shade that matches as it is. I feel sorry for people who are new to foundation and trying to find their shade!!

I love makeup designed for kids! It’s a great way to let them express themselves and learn how to apply makeup. Then when they get old enough to wear makeup out - if they choose to - they aren’t completely lost.

My grandson is now 9. He was about 3 or 4. He would ask what does this or that do? Regarding makeup. I let him play with it. He would end up looking like a member of KISS, buy he had fun..His father didn't much like it. Liked it less when he asked me" why does my son know who Jeffree Star is?"
When IT came out, it scared him ( he saw a preview. I found Glam and Gore to show him- it's just someone with makeup on.
Makeup can be a teaching tool, in more ways than we realize.
    Have a great one, everyone!

I completely agree with you on the gradient of shades being confusing. I feel like it’s done on purpose. If they’re not in a gradient then you can’t really tell the quantity of tones under each shade(if that makes sense). I don’t know…. it could be nothing but it’s certainly annoying.

I love the idea of kids being able to play with make up that can be washed off easily. Both boys and girls should be able to get creative. Kids love to get their faces painted at fairs and carnivals. My mother would put a few pieces of her unwanted make up in a bag for me to play with. We had some of her old clothes to play dress up with as well. Then we'd put on plays for ourselves. So much fun. And it didn't cost a penny.
