I bought such microphone and the sound of original camera microphone is much different. But when I plugged it to my iPhone 8 plus and 5s, I couldn't hear difference. And it doesn't matter what position switch is in.
I think that might be an iPhone thing, i have a Pixel XL, and the microphone works on both modes camera and smartphone, but the camera mode gives a little more louder sound, but it does bring some interference
3 to 4 feet and in sounded pretty good. The close up was definitely the best. I'm going to be reviewing this mic and I liked your thoughts and review. New subscriber here.
im still using this mic. i do find that the Rode has better low end, but I just love the fact that this doesn't use any batteries. Thats definitely one of my favorite features of this mic for sure.
You sold me. I've been looking for a microphone and was going to get a Rode microphone, but that'd hurt my pocket a bit too much lol. I'll go with this one for now. Thank you for your review.
Hi there! Thank you for the review! I recently purchased this mic and noticed it picks up a lot of white noise. Is there a setting I can change in order to tone down the white noise? I am using the mic on a Nikon D3300.
There seems to be two versions of this mic: Comica CVM-V30 and Comica CVM-V30 LITE with the LITE version being without batteries. As they are about the same price I am wondering which sounds better or if they are equal.
Eliah Holiday I would definitely think the CVM-V30 would sound better then the Lite version. But I like the lite as I never have to worry about batteries. And for me the mic sounds great.
Hello, I am undecided between the comic v30 lite or the pro, your videos will help me better decide my purchase, greetings from the city of Piedras Negras Coahuila in Mexico, Blessings ...
you sold me on this mic! the only thing is that it doesn't come with a windmuff out of the box. they sell it seperate for $14. But it's still a lot cheaper than a Rode.
Hi! That was an awesome review! Though I have a question and i've been looking the answer through all internet lol so if you could help me with this i will be really thankful. Does the mic works connected to a pc? I am looking something to use both on the camera and while i am streaming. This question is the only thing keeping away from buying the mic but i dont find this answer anywhere lol. If you know this or can you test in on your own pc it will be awesome. Thanks!
I think that most computers (not all) really want a mic that can produce its own power as the 3.5mm mic jack on most computer cant push out much power to the mic. I would look at a mic that produces its own power (uses a battery). My thought is that would be a better option with a better chance of success.
80's Coolture awesome. And I’m still using this comica mic. I really like it and since it doesn’t require batteries I never screw up the sound recording.
I have a cheap light strip on the rear couch behind me shining a blue strip of light on the wall. Im using a standard room light that is on above me. And the 2 primary lights are Neewer LED light panels, which are about $100 a piece. One on the left and one on the right of me. Ill probably do a 'studio tour' once the room is complete. It's almost there. For now! 😁
The Rode sounded a little bit better, but for 39 bucks, it's close enough. I'd say it sounds pretty decent, and I probably wouldn't have noticed had you started out with it. Thanks.
If you are to make more directional "isolation" testing, how about several audio sources around and then having a spin? The test in "silent" room gives a picture of the room echos, but automatic levelling tries to filol in the silence ...
You tried to speak when the mic is pointed in the opposite direction while being around a foot away, but what about speaking right behind it? Couple of inches away as most.
Seeing that i haven't used the Rode Mic Go, its hard for me to answer. All i know is that ive been very pleased with the Comica gear. Hopefully someone here can answer that for you.
Very amatuer videor looking to record something for our church but i believe i need an adaptor from CVM-V30 Lite to ipad pro. Suggestions? It wouldn't work going straight in through the 3.5mm jack.
For some reason i feel like it sounds better on phone than camera. I think its cause the white noise is everything bouncing around in the room, but when its not drawing as much power from the mobile, it doesnt seem to pick it up as much .
When plugged into the phone/camera, since it doesn't run on its own battery, does it drain the battery of the phone/camera? Also what's the sound like when outside?
That I am. I use it almost entirely for when Im away from the house. It's so small and portable, plus its just so easy to point forward or backwards. I use the comica when im recording in the house.
id much rather have a very small draw from my camera versus having to carry extra batteries around. Or your mic running out of power half way through a shoot and you not realizing that the batteries have died. Or forgetting to turn the power on the mic and getting no audio. The amount of power that these mics use is minimal.
What mic are you using?

I'm using a Movo VXR10. It doesn't use any batteries and it's cheaper than the Rode VideoMicro.
this one.
Best review I have seen for a shotgun mic. I really appreciate the distance test. Keep it up! 👏
Appreciated!

@@gregtoope Very welcome. I'm excited to check out more of your reviews. So are you sticking with the Rode mic or did you switch over?

@@gregtoope Absolutely! Great feature indeed. I'll be doing a review of this mic next week. I'm excited to see how it performs for me.
Thanks for the review. Looks and sounds like a great budget mic.
ive been using this mic a lot. Really happy with it.

That i dont know. I use this on a multiple Canon cameras with no issues.
You convince me to buy if, I had this on my cart for days... now i just purchased it, can’t wait to try it! Thanks 😊
Hope it works well for you!
Came here for the review of the Comica V30 lite, loved the review you’re a fellow Canadian, so you’ve got a sub. Keep up the great work
Awesome, thank you!
seems like the Rode microphone captures some of the hissing/interference noise in the backgr0und but the Comica microphone doesn't

Great video! I think I'm going to pick it up on my next payday.
Sotero Murguia i use this mic all the time! Great purchase in my opinion.
Cruisn Canada good stuff. I’m gonna be using with my iPhone Xr for now. Hoping to record my first vlog in a couple of weeks.
Sotero Murguia awesome. Let us know what you think of it once it arrives!

Dave Bouchard most definitely. I use this mic for most of my videos. Have been very happy with it.
@@gregtoope awesome, thanks for the reply! i'll be mostly get some road trip/skateboarding footage with it. we'll see how it handles it!
Dave Bouchard sounds great. Let us know!
Is the hissing noise in the background from the mic or equipment running?

and make sure that you get a mic that can be returned just in case it doesn't work.
it sounds good thanks for the review
No problem 👍
Good video brother ! I've just bought it ! Just can’t wait to test it ! But which microphone are you currently using for your vloging?
80's Coolture awesome. And I’m still using this comica mic. I really like it and since it doesn’t require batteries I never screw up the sound recording.
Which kind of light are using for vloging on this video actually I think the quality is amazing!

Great idea seriously!

Comica V30 lite or Boya MM1+ or Boya BM3011?

Seikku Kaita could definitely be a good test. May look into that.
How does it compare to the RØDE VideoMic Pro
Great review. Thanks
Fazli Baharuddin Project very welcome. Thanks for the comment.
You tried to speak when the mic is pointed in the opposite direction while being around a foot away, but what about speaking right behind it? Couple of inches away as most.
at a couple of inches the mic will hear you.
@@gregtoope Thanks!

Comica or Rode Video Mic Go? What do you think?

Very amatuer videor looking to record something for our church but i believe i need an adaptor from CVM-V30 Lite to ipad pro. Suggestions? It wouldn't work going straight in through the 3.5mm jack.
would you have any suggestion of a better microphone option if an adaptor is not available?
Steven Young pretty sure you should be able to go straight into the headphone jack in the iPad.
The iphone didn't sound as good. Hmmm
im thinking that the iphone has its own volume controls that you just cant play with, so its adjusting the sound in the background.
@@gregtoope That definitely might be the case. I'll look into that for my review. Appreciate your feedback. Would love to do a collab sometime.
Dad's Den would definitely be cool to do a collaboration!
the sound quality seems more poor while connected to the iPhone (compared to DSLR)?... the volume seems low or something. Has the quality gone down?

doesn't seem to drain the battery much at all. And it sounds great outdoors. Putting a wind muff on it will help with any outdoor wind sound.
@@gregtoope Thank you, I appreciate it!
Norene Francisco no worries.
Hello, does it work with an iPhone X plus ?
Regards
very good video.
Thank you very much!
Are you still using the saramonic srxm1?
That I am. I use it almost entirely for when Im away from the house. It's so small and portable, plus its just so easy to point forward or backwards. I use the comica when im recording in the house.
Have it works good
linepoto I use it all the time. It’s the mic I probably use the most.
would this work with the osmo pocket? and possibly not get in the frame.. would i set it as a mobile device or camera for the back toggle button
have you tried this hooked up to a laptop rather than a camera?
Greg Veres that I have not. I use a USB microphone plugged into my computer which works awesome.
If i want to connect it to my pc and use is as a mic, in which mode should it be? ;)
is the rode NT usb better?
How to charge the mic sir?
Domi Niczk you don’t charge it. It uses the power from the camera. So no batteries.
@@gregtoope thanks sir
Domi Niczk most welcome
Does this microphone support PC?
Great question. I'm not sure of the answer, but hopefully, someone here will be able to answer if for you.
@@gregtoope wow, what a fast response! Thank you, anyway.
@@kidabear782 haha. thanks. I try to respond as quickly as I can. If I find an answer to your question ill definitely post it here!
Great vid mate. Just got one to. :-)

I didn´t trust my ears (because I was in a nother windows while yout Video was running...) We have the same Logo-Intro-Animation :-)
Greetings, Sven
you are cool!
Lisa Sytova Thanks 🙏
It doesn't work with Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II without turning on 'plug-in power' option in the video menu....
Good to know. thanks for the comment.
There is just a tendency to brightness but this is mitigated by a dead cat available as an extra.
No batteries needed means power draw from your camera. I dont think I'd like that.
