This was great! At the risk of sounding weird, I have to admit that while I enjoyed listening to everything you were saying, Summer I was captivated by the way Dave always looked at you with so much fondness. So nice to see.
♥️ Summer, I love how unapologetically quirky and spunky and hilarious you are! Positive person with a penchant for pet peeves 🤣🤣 that spoke to my soul!! And how sweet and adorable are you two together?? The way Dave watches you just be yourself melted my heart! How exciting for yall and the business for him to jump on ship and row full time! ✨💖 Congrats!
Hi Summer, love seeing you more on you tube with vlogs. Enjoy this one you are a lucky gril with your husband helping you with everything, your a Lovely couple🥰so good to hear your new book is coming by the end of the year. I have your first and use it a lot. And I am also a member of your Colorwork Cuff Club . Haha I don’t wear my socks either😂love looking at them in my drawer! Greetings from the Netherlands .
I would love any heel demos but specifically please, after the heel is complete, show us how you carry on around and avoid holes at the joins to the front….thank you! Most demos never show this or at least the ones I’ve watched.
Welcome Dave to the wonderful world of knitting! Summer, you found a jewel of a husbund. Can't wait to see what fun ideas both of you come up with this year.
I adopted a Beesly 5 years ago too! She peered out of the internet into my soul from the local Humane Society. She is a strawberry blonde terrier mix. She would also like to be an only dog, but she has to share her home every work week with my daughter's rescue, bichon Louie. They tolerate each other. I became a Summer Lee fan when I found your book The Sock Project in the library, read it cover to cover, and then had to buy it for myself! I've since knit 4 pairs of socks! Loving your sock world! Thanks🥰
you taught me socks, now all I want to knit it socks all the time. its a problem. got all my gift knit socks done and working on my first pair for myself. Thank you so much Summer! Also love the way Dave looks at you, you both look very happy. Glad you guys made the change to work together and looking forward to all you do in 2025!
So glad Dave is on the sock team!! Love that the two of you have made a family business out of Summer's quirky and adorable passion for socks. Your work has changed my entire approach to knitting and socks.
Hi Summer, as usual you have brought a smile to my face and inspiration in my fingers to make even more socks. Thank you for your energy, creativity and joy you bring to all of us...and that adoring look that Dave gives you fills my heart. Employee of the year award for Dave!
Summer! I am so thankful for you and your presence here on UA-cam! I love what you are doing...and your every Friday schedule is perfect. I am so inspired to keep learning. Just know that the work you are doing is so valuable. Oh...and Dave...nice to meet you! Congratulations on your promotion. It will be nice to see your hand at work here as well. Keep going!
I recommend in your next Q &A let Dave talk too. It was a good and interesting video Summer. Oh and also. I love the TV on rollers. I hate the TV in the living room. What an awesome idea to put it on a rolling stand. So cool
Thank you Summer! I think I was the one who said I'm all thumbs and cables. Since reading your book and watching your demo's, I've knit a pair of socks which I can wear although they are not beautifully knit. I'm now on my second pair. Thank you again.❤️❤️❤️
I love the support Dave is showing!!! We ❤️ Dave! As a member of the ccc I would love to see some kind of continuation of it once it’s done. I so look forward to getting the email every month 😊
I’m so excited to have you back posting videos! Having the multi-talented Dave on board so you can focus on what you love doing is a genius idea. I found you about a year or two ago. It is my shame to admit I have your book and many of your self-published patterns in my queue, but have only knit your Mermaid Avenue socks so far. I can’t wait to knit more, but I mostly knit sweaters and have to squeeze socks in around that. Any tips on prioritising sock knitting will be welcomed. I live in a quiet little seaside town (pop. 10,000) on the Victorian coast, close to the South Australian border. The climate is perfect for knitted socks. I want to have a starter set of 14 pairs, so I can wear them every day. So far I have 6 pairs. Much love from your biggest Aussie fan! Give Beasley a big belly rub for me!
I watched all your videos during 1 week 😀 absolutely captivating, you should be a comedian ! I must admit I especially loved your early videos where you were rambling on various topics apart from knitting content. Wanted to just leave my big awwww for all you do and the energy you bring through the screen. I’m Watching from Switzerland and I’m a beginner sock knitter. After 3 failed attempts finally made my first sock that fits perfectly with the help of your book ❤
I’ve so enjoyed this and I love how David has come on board with you and I’m so happy for you Summer as I’ve been following you more or less from the start. I also love your new house 😊❤😊r❤
Loved these questions and both of you on the video answering them. I’m in Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺 watching this. It’s only been 32 degrees today (89 F for you) which is a cool change to what we’ve been having in the middle of our hot summer. 💚
So fun to hear these answers and learn a little more about you and your life! If you don’t mind another question, I’m wondering if you have any tips or tricks for how to get an idea of how a speckled or variegated yarn will knit up with it just in the skein? For instance when you’re shopping and there is no swatch or sample project to get an idea from. I’ve ended up getting so many skeins that didn’t knit up at all like I thought they would. Can’t wait for the new pattern, merch, and book!! 🥳
Hi Summer. Writing you from NYC. Love your vlogs and your book. Learning a lot. Your husband looking at you so fondly was sweet. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you for yet another hilarious video!!! It's so lovely, Dave could join you in your business. I'm looking forward to the new book - sounds amazing - and the merch 😊
I made my first pair of socks because of you and your design ideas. And it was a few years ago when the basic sock pattern was published. I knew how to knit and mostly knitted hats, scarves and mittens, but when I saw your work I knew socks had to be next. And I'm a big 37-year-old man, and the knitting hobby in general was a big surprise to everyone. Especially when I told someone that my dream is to knit a pair of socks, they gave me that teenager look you talked about. Because they thought I meant those ugly, itchy feet socks our grandmothers used to make. But I had a secret weapon - your Instagram account, which always makes everyone's jaw drop. I'm looking forward to the next videos and missed them when you took a break. I love your work and wish you all the best. PS I'm from Łódź, Poland.
And one more thing. I'm a professional graphic designer and you're one of my biggest sources of colour inspiration. You have a great eye and I admire your skills. I always learn something new from you.
Did anyone NOT start with Red Heart yarn? Can't wait for the tutorials! Cat hair is the same as dog hair. I used to say that my cats never left my property, yet the went wherever I went!
I loved this episode! So glad to know Dave is happy to support you with your passion for socks. I’m sorry you had to help your dog over the rainbow bridge. We had to do that with our Maggie; it was both miserable and beautiful at the same time. I’m looking forward to your next book and more color cuff club designs!
I've loved the ccc and would love it to continue either with colorwork or stitch patterns, especially ones that work well with self stripping yarn. I like getting my stripe yarn every month but don't want to just make vanilla socks with them all the time. I'd love a series of patterns that have patterns but play well with self stripes yarn.
Loved this video of you both sharing…I learned to knit socks magic loop and only knit that way. Will be looking forward to your tutorial soon ❤️ Great team!🧶🧶
I’m beyond excited for more tutorials this year! I learned to crochet, about a year or 2 ago but back in August last year I came across your Knit Stars workshop and bought it immediately .. I’m learning to knit via your UA-cam channel, your 1st book and some UA-cam searches. I’ve knit a few socks and I’m so obsessed. Love your love of fun bright happy socks!!! 🧦 Thank you Summer and Dave!! 🤗
I’m soooo looking forward to your new book and so happy to see more Summer Lee UA-cam content. Re blocking-the stitches just open up so beautifully after blocking. I block for gifts but have to admit hubs and I are so excited when a new pair are off the needles that washing and blocking doesn’t happen until after our first wearing. What a wonderful world we live in that you and Dave can now work together from home continuing to grow your business. I love your mutual admiration for each other and respect for one another’s talents that just fill in the business gaps seamlessly. Keep warm. Xoxo your Ohio fan and friend in all things socks.
I love your hair and also how your husband looks at you with such admiration. You are such a sweet couple. I love your knitting videos and bought your sock book and look forward to your new book
Good for you wearing your socks! I love wearing my socks. I have narrow feet, and they fit me so well! They keep my feet nice and comfy! [Hi Dave! You are doing a good job!]
I LOVE that you are able to VLOG more!! I have missed you. Exciting news-I have devoured everything you have put out about color work sock knitting, and dum de da dum...I finished my first pair of colorwork socks that I will actually be able to wear!!!!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I will post a picture of them tomorrow-I had to block them 😘
This was great! Several answers really hit home or were very helpful. I’m working on my third project as a total knitting newby & first use of magic circle. Oy. I’m an experienced crocheter and struggle mightily that it’s not instantly perfect knitting 🙄. I really want to knit socks. I’m in the colorwork cuff club (to get to eventually) and have your book on my wish list, but my experience with magic loop so far is making me anxious about knitting such a small circumference. Thank you for answering what needles you use. I think I need to try some shorties. Ditto here on total introvert in real life and being a fast walker. It hurts my soul to amble instead of proceed on a mission!
I am 77 years old and have been knitting socks for at at least years. It is cold here inWisconsin and wool socks are essential, IMO. That said, your designs continue to inspire me. My socks are now so much fun, that my large family is always requesting a pair. Thanks for your designs, and videos. And congratulations on the new business hire. 🤭
i'm from Belgium and watched all of your video's. I love love love knitting socks, unfortunatly it depends from day to day because of my hands if i can knit :( so i don't knit that many pairs a year but it makes me happy Thank you for answering our questions, and hello Dave, welcome to the firm :)
Hello Summer…I've liked you for a long time and was one of your first fans. And you keep getting better and better…! And Dave - he's so likeable, you're really a dream Team! Saludos from Astrid, from La Palma, Canary Islands! I‘m expecting your new Book! ♥️🩷❤️
Love watching your videos. You are so easy to listen to and everything is explained so well Definitely one of my favourite channels. Thanks to you and your family for sharing yourselves with us.x
Well.... You could not be more adorable. Any ideas for blocking socks with a 10" cuff? I love longer cuffs, especially in the winter. I have the same blue sock forms but the cuffs extend over the top of the form and bunch together!
I totally get how your socks are your artwork and you don’t want to wear them!!!! Just a thought for your goals this year…..why not display them in a shadow box frame (I’m thinking all white) in a fun and creative way ..that way, they are protected and you could enjoy them every time you see it! I think that would be really fun in your office where you could use it as a back drop for filming…..and then maybe make a few pair that are specifically for wearing only- and love wearing them!! Love your videos AND all your sock patterns!
Hello, I'm living in a little village in Germany. I enjoyed your video. I like your positive energy, visible in the colourful socks, too. The Q&A sessions was great, especially the written questions below, because I had to ask my translator twice this time. I' m not a beginner in sock knitting, but doing tutorials is a great idea, because I remember when I startet sock knitting at the age of 14 years, 44 years ago, I had to learn it by books. Don't ask me about all the amount of trials I needed to have a result corresponding to the picture in the book.😅 What a chance to have videos and tutorials, translator... today.
From New Zealand - quite a few people in my knit group are knitting Summer Lee Socks - I have yet to knit a pair of socks but have purchased your pattern and will get onto it - soon I hope !!
I want to build a yarn dyeing business and my husband is also getting really involved. I just love that it's the two of you and that Dave is so involved. 😍 I wish I lived there. I would adopt Grady instantly. He is so adorable!
Great Q&A ‘s. I know we have seen Dave around in the background but OMG! You guys are Just Adorable! The Adoration Dave has for You Summer is Beautiful to see. Whenever I loose my Sock Mojo I just watch your videos and I’m back on track. Thank You for your Inspiration and Support for US who want to keep knitting Socks. Your new home is Beautiful and I love your Ascetic. ❤❤ Maree 🇦🇺 from Queensland. Australia
Omgosh, that was a great video. So many questions were answered that I was wondering about. Nice two meet your other half, too. Love the animals. Sending much love from Oregon!!!
I would love to see you review some sock yarns you don’t normally use! Quince and Co Starling and Sandes Garn Sisu are two I love that I don’t think I’ve seen you use before
Please have a retreat or hopefully you will asked to teach on a cruise or other trip !!😊 I would love to hang and laugh and knit ! I’m a loner but love knitters bc we are all a little similar. 😂
Thank you so much for another great podcast. I look so forward to them. You book I have bought and it has become a regulate on my table so it has been close for HELP that I may need. I am finally back knitting socks again that I so enjoy. I had some serious back surgery 5 months ago and even mastering my knitting needles was quite the effort. So that time was spent dreaming up projects to do for our 5 grandchildren and now as of 4 months ago our first great grandchild. They all love my socks, as basic as they are so they will have fun receiving more fun ones. One of my DILs will adore them. You see with this crew, the more color and fun design is even better. Thank you again for helping me get back to my needles and bringing back my excitement for creating your patterns.😀
Hi Summer, could you do a tutorial (or design) using self-striping socks? I have several skeins of self striping yarn and I wanted to do more than vanilla socks. Happy Sock Knitting. This was such a fun video as always!!!
I keep a large flat screen tv on a rolling cart, too. But not for the same reason as you. I run a weekly knitting group on Zoom and in the summer months we like to have it on my screened-in back patio. I have couches and a coffee table and even a dining table out there so we roll the TV out there so others can join us in that space on Zoom. The TV doesn’t connect to our cable but it is on wi-fi and I have a camera connected to it for Zoom. We use it for large family zoom calls when a group of us are together around the dining room table but some are missing… or we watch movies on the back patio on summer nights. It’s great. Your Q&A was fun. I am not a sock knitter but I’ve always wanted to be. Not sure why they’ve never stuck so far. Can’t wait for that fade tutorial.
I really enjoyed this. I’m so glad Dave is able to do this with you. How awesome is that. By him looking at you… he adores you. It reminds me how my dad looked at my mom. Oh my gosh. I’m working on the November cuff club right now. It’s so much fun picking colors and seeing it come together. Even though I’m not enjoying weaving in ends. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m turning into a sock lady 😂 who would have thought.
HI Summer, I really like your designs and recently I bought your book. Although I am advanced in sock knitting, I benefited a lot from the book and I suggested to my friends to buy this book and they actually bought this book, but most of my friends do not speak English well and I started helping them and translating the book into Arabic for them. I am GAZAL from Afghanistan and I live in Saudi Arabia.
Hello Summer,I’m obsessed, prior to your “ one and only vlogmas “ video, I had never heard of Summer Lee and all the socks. Loved that video so much I ordered The Sock Project immediately, since it’s arrival it has barely left my side. Currently knitting the second basic sock no. 1 and loving it. I can knit socks but this year I want to BE the sock, funnily enough my very first sock was a toe up 😅and I do love them, but I’m going to knit my way through the sock project and see what happens. I have been working my way through your past videos. 🤔definitely going to need more sock yarn, tonals in particular. I’m yet to knit colour work anything so very excited for chapter 11. I am Debra I live in Sydney Australia our weather is crazy atm the last two evenings I have knit by candlelight due to power outages from ridiculous ⛈ I need more candles 😅thank you so much love your work ❤😊

Such a great video and how special to have Dave working with you now! I live in British Columbia, Canada and got hooked on knitting socks watching your Basic Sock tutorial. It was so easy to follow and I look forward to all your future tutorials and videos 😍
Hello, I’m from Norfolk UK. I have to confess I don’t wear my socks either. They are all neatly folded in a special box. My friends call me weird so hearing that you do the same makes me feel much better!
Summer and Dave, thank you for this Q & A. I love the chemistry between you ❤ I have your book The Sock Project and have knitted two pairs so far and I am hooked on sock knitting. I learnt to knit when I was 9 which was 55 years ago! I am eagerly looking forward to your new book. Love your work 😍 Oh and I'm from Australia 🦘
I paused this at 15:40 just to acknowledge that I’m relieved to hear you say that many of your socks you don’t wear. I am the same way and find they are just too pretty and I don’t want to wreck the works of art by adding wear to them.😂 It is a goal of mine to knit so many that I will feel comfortable wearing more of them in the future and still keeping some to just oogle over.
Thank you for your video. It is so nice of you to share with us knitters and I think it's great that Dave is supporting what you do. I bought your first book "The Sock Project" love it and I can't wait for your next one. I live in Tennessee and have joined a knitting group of 12 women in Alabama which is 40 miles from where I live. That is where I found out about you and your sock projects. I've learned so much from your book and your video tutorials ... excited to see what you have in store for us in 2025.
I love that you are branching out and that Dave has joined you in your business !! I am loving CCC, even though I've only gotten to knit the first (flower) pattern !!!! They won't go over my heel (), but, they'll fit someone !! I thought I'd left long enough floats, but, not so ! That brings me to my suggestion for your upcoming tutes. I'd love to see a tutorial on adding depth to an afterthought (and forethoughts) heel, how you decide how many rows, when to insert them, etc. I wore my Little Boxes shorties this week and they came off !! LOL Also, I'd love to see something about high instep techniques !! Love your Vlog and I look forward to it !!😇
HI Summer. Like you, I am nosy and I enjoy your vlogs for the knitting content and because I am basically snoopy about your life. Welcome Dave and so glad you are here to do the work that allows Summer to be in front of us more. I am here for it!!
I would love a tutorial on how to do single round micro stripes! Thanks, Summer! Very excited for the second book and new merch!! Love from Minnesota ❄️
This was great! At the risk of sounding weird, I have to admit that while I enjoyed listening to everything you were saying, Summer I was captivated by the way Dave always looked at you with so much fondness. So nice to see.
I noticed that too!! So sweet!
Ditto! He's so attentive and comfortable in front of the camera🥰🥰
@@pinkypilot yupp, just the picture of a smitten man 🥰
You took the words straight out of my mouth
Yes I noticed that too what a great team you are in life
I'm 57 seconds into this, but I had to pause to comment....the way Dave looks at you!! 😍😍😍 I think he might like you.
I thought the same thing! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰So sweet !
Oh Summer, y’all have big, big things in store for you ! Much success headed your way! ❤ love y’all 😊
Maybe just a little... 😆
Oh my goodness! That is so true! Love it!! Love how you laugh together!
I noticed it, too! ❤
Is your husband always this adorable? I love the way he looks at you. So sweet.
Yes merch pleassssssssssssse!!!!!!!! I'd love for everyone to know I am part of the handknit socks gang!

Yes! This is exactly what I was going to ask...the dreaded gap.
Agreed! I've only ever knit one sock (the first one in The Sock Project) and it has loads of heel gaps 😂...among other issues.
My German short row heels are very wonky and would love some tips. I'm trying to diversify from always doing the heel flap which I love
Yes, the heel gap!! Noted, thanks for the suggestion! :)
Welcome Dave to the wonderful world of knitting! Summer, you found a jewel of a husbund. Can't wait to see what fun ideas both of you come up with this year.

Hallo Summer, dieses ist der erste Kommentar den ich schreibe. Gestern dein Buch gekauft, heute erste Sockenferse überhaupt gestrickt. Bin begeistert

The demo of craning your necks at the tv literally made me laugh out loud. This is my favorite video you've ever made. I

So you need to open the Summer Lee Sock Museum! I would definitely visit. 😊
So glad to hear I’m not the only one that saves most of my socks and only wear very few. They really do feel like art work!

I will post a picture of them tomorrow-I had to block them 😘
PS they are from your cuff club.
Thank you Summer, this was fun. The tutorials I am interested in are cables and lacework on socks.
Thank you Kathleen!
I’m looking forward to your new tutorials! Thank you.
i'm from Belgium and watched all of your video's. I love love love knitting socks, unfortunatly it depends from day to day because of my hands if i can knit :( so i don't knit that many pairs a year but it makes me happy
Thank you for answering our questions, and hello Dave, welcome to the firm :)
This was such a fun video to watch while knitting a cable hat. Thank you!
The way Dave looks at you is so swoony. You can just see the love and admiration and pride he has for you ma’am!
Hi from Danmark (scandinavia) thanks for a great podcast and your designs are the best ❤
Well.... You could not be more adorable. Any ideas for blocking socks with a 10" cuff? I love longer cuffs, especially in the winter. I have the same blue sock forms but the cuffs extend over the top of the form and bunch together!
Dave just looks at you all the time as if he idolises you 😂 it’s so cute to look at him how he looks and smiley at you. A relationship goal for sure 😍
Such a good video! And David looks at you with SUCH LOVE!! So nice to see that. And congrats to him and you on your new journey together with SLDS!
A great big hi from New Zealand Summer I'm new to your podcast and look forward to your next one.
Hi Summer - would love to see you do a toe up sock with a Fish Lips Kiss heel. Love your videos- very inspiring.
Hello,
I'm living in a little village in Germany.
I’d love to see how you weave in your ends on colour work socks please xx
I want to build a yarn dyeing business and my husband is also getting really involved. I just love that it's the two of you and that Dave is so involved. 😍 I wish I lived there. I would adopt Grady instantly. He is so adorable!
Loved the episode! Maybe a semi annual ask me anything is in your future.
Australia
I would like to see you include in your tutorials on the best method of knitting a short row heel with a adjustment for a high instep.
This was fun! You and Dave are so adorable 😊
Omgosh, that was a great video. So many questions were answered that I was wondering about. Nice two meet your other half, too. Love the animals. Sending much love from Oregon!!!
I would love to see you review some sock yarns you don’t normally use! Quince and Co Starling and Sandes Garn Sisu are two I love that I don’t think I’ve seen you use before
You two are the cutest team! Great q&a, love your socks. ❤❤ PS Hello from Western Australia. 🇦🇺
Thanks Joanna!
Loved seeing Dave, as always thank you for the video
Please have a retreat or hopefully you will asked to teach on a cruise or other trip !!😊 I would love to hang and laugh and knit ! I’m a loner but love knitters bc we are all a little similar. 😂
We really are our own unique little community!
The way Dave looks at you … ❤ … so much love and I love that for both of you! ❤
That's awesome, Donnelle, I'm so glad you're re recovering well and able to pass the time with fun knits! :)
OHH So excited to have Dave be a part of the business and what changes that will bring. Also I love how he looks at you, so cute.
Congratulations on David coming into your business and being a family business 🎉 what a fantastic achievement! Happy knitting 💚🧶🩷
I’m turning into a sock lady 😂 who would have thought.
HI Summer,
I really like your designs and recently I bought your book.
You two are terrific and I love your socks!
Great episode and congratulations Dave! Love your TV solution. I’m with you on the ergonomics. Looking forward to seeing the next book!
We have the same rolling TV stand! I love it so much lol I almost have the same passion as you
Welcome Dave to the business. Only made a few socks so far but have found your tutorials and style so helpful. Thank you
Thank you!
Hello, I’m from Norfolk UK. I have to confess I don’t wear my socks either. They are all neatly folded in a special box. My friends call me weird so hearing that you do the same makes me feel much better!
Right?! They're your special friends that only you get to visit! LOL
Great fun video ! 🎉 Looking forward to many more. Love all your socks. And great to meet Dave.
So much love from Australia this week!! Thank you! :)
Love your Vlog and I look forward to it !!😇
You two are so lovely!! ❤
Such a fun episode! Looking forward to all of the fun you have planned. I'm knitting a pair or socks right now in snowy / cold MT!
HI Summer. Like you, I am nosy and I enjoy your vlogs for the knitting content and because I am basically snoopy about your life. Welcome Dave and so glad you are here to do the work that allows Summer to be in front of us more. I am here for it!!
Congratulations to doubling the efforts of your company. I look forward to your tutorials
I would love a tutorial on how to do single round micro stripes! Thanks, Summer! Very excited for the second book and new merch!! Love from Minnesota ❄️
