Hey y'all! Thanks so much for being here ☺I apologize that the UA-cam formatting part of this video was unfinished when this video was published. It should all be up to date now! I am also working this week on improving the subtitles, if you are waiting on that. Happy making!
Is always fun to see how other knitters organized their notions, I also try to have notions for each project. I love lightbulb stitch markers!
I think I use the lightbulb markers the most of any marker I have, they are just so handy!
Hey Emily. Nice podcast today lady. I like videos that show off what's in your project bags. You can compare yours with other knitter's on what they keep in their bags. Your sock bag appears a bit larger then one of mine. I might start weighing out out for 2 50 gram skeins so they can fit inside. One large 100 gram skeins takes up a lot of bulk. One item I keep is a very small crochet hook in case I drop a stitch. I really like your set up Emily. You have very nice notions and things. I hope more videos like this will be out to help others perhaps just starting out. I had all my sock items just placed here and there on my side table and would almost everytime lose something or get wet from a glass of tea. I would pick something up and a knitting item would be swept away
to the floor. I've learned so much more now. And thank you Emily for putting out this truly inspired podcast for all to enjoy. Take care. Enjoy the sunshine. 😊❤
Thanks for watching! Yes, my bag is big enough to hold two 100 gram skeins comfortably, so it’s great for the majority of my accessory projects. I used to have a mini crochet hook in there too, but it broke 😅 and I’m usually able to pick up dropped stitches with just my needles now, so I make do. Hopefully you can find a way to keep all your notions safe so they don’t go flying off the table! I’ve lost lots of markers that way lol. Thanks for watching and always leaving great comments!
I never thought about using a lightbulb marker to hold my round markers. I feel you i literally got sick this weekend right when my 3 day weekend started. i wasnt feeling to bad til i went to work then my boss said you look bad you can go home. it like hit me within minutes of being there. so now home knitting , watching podcasts and rest. and i need to look at target. i work at the pharmacy in target and i just walk right to the back and never look at the dollar area.
The dollar spot is a blessing and a curse 😂 there are some good finds though! I’m sorry you’re not feeling good, I hope resting helps you feel better soon!
I have a notions tin too! Just one though--I move it from bag to bag. And mine is long and narrow so it can fit extra dpns if needed :)
Oooo I like that yours can fit DPNs! Those are easy to lose track of.
Hello…..thanks for the idea of putting label in Center of yarn cakes. I just usually threw them in my bag. Also you mentioned that you do a monthly sock club? Is that a kit that you get monthly or do you do a meeting with locals?
It’s a really handy way to keep track of labels, especially if I am using more than one color in the same project! So the monthly sock club is kind of a misnomer… Basically, you use a different skein of yarn each month from the dyer Desert Vista Dyeworks and you get coupon codes and free skeins of yarn for doing so. You still buy/acquire your own skeins on your own timeline, so the “monthly” part is just that you participate each month in using a skein of their yarn. If you participate every month in a calendar year you get the coupon codes and free skeins of yarn cumulatively, with an exclusive colorway for doing all 12 months. If you use Ravelry, you can learn more about it on Desert Vista Dyeworks’ Ravelry group.
@@crowchetcreations4888 thank you so much for the info. I just recently started to watch your videos. I found that I really enjoy watching because I’m a new sock knitter. I started knitting when I was 9 yrs old and now I’m 63. I put knitting down for years and this winter started back. I always wanted to learn to knit socks. I’m still trying what I can do, like 4 needles for starters and then circular to see what works for me. I have also seen someone knit 2 at a time with circular needles but looked too much for this old girl. Have you been knitting long? You explain things very well in videos and I’m looking forward to the next one.
@@leekasten3549 Thank you so much! I am so glad to have you here. I started knitting almost 2 years ago, but I had crocheted for about 15 years before that so I wasn't unfamiliar with the fiber arts. Once I started knitting, I quickly became obsessed!
I have tried lightbulb stitch markers, but they don't seem to be very compatible with crochet stitches, in my experience.
I personally like the thicker stitch markers (like a lever back clasp or the plastic safety pins) better for crochet!
