It’s amazing that, at my age (71), I only became keenly aware of Leslie Jordan when all these tributes popped up after his death. But then, I’d stopped watching commercial TV in the mid-70s when cable became available. Imagine my shock to realize I’d actually seen him live at a showing of Sordid Live when he, Del Shores, and several other cast members did a q&a after the film. What a delightful man! A big heart, keen insights, and mountains of wit. I’ll be gobbling up whatever I can find of his work from now on. I hope flights of angels have…well, you know the line.

Leslie was a genuine comic genius but even more important, a generous man. We walked arm in arm across the WB Studios one night where he was donating his time to be my charity group’s emcee for a fundraiser for homeless youth in Los Angeles. He told me stories which had me laughing until I was crying by the time we got to the event. Thank you Leslie for making the world a brighter and funnier place to live in. Gone way too soon, but I am sure you are keeping the angels in stitches.

Can I just say I thoroughly enjoyed this entire interview! I’ve been a fan of his for many years, and like most of our country heartbroken when he passed. I was hoping,at some point soon, I’d be able to see him live in some performance! I cannot believe (even though I’ve heard some of these stories before) how great they are! Now I want to scour the internet looking for the books he’s written and hopefully find his one-man show also. The interviewer asks perfect questions and his laugh was very contagious prompting Mr. Jordan to give fabulous answers! Thank you. I enjoyed this very much! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Leslie Jordan lived in our building for a while; we lived there for more than 14 years, so it's kind of hard to pinpoint the time, but I think the baby had been born, so that would've been after March 2007. I don't know what he was doing in Atlanta for a semi-extended period of time; I worried that I would annoy him if I asked him like I'm sure a million other people were asking.
At any rate, the first time I noticed him, he got off the elevator wearing a white suit and my husband and I finally realized that he was, indeed, the person we thought he was. :)
He was a very nice guy. We lived in a building full of entitled beings that ("that" is used intentionally) thought that the rules didn't apply to them, but Leslie wasn't like that at all.
We just couldn't understand why he was living in a rental building instead of the condo building, but when we heard that he bought his first home shortly before he died, his renting made more sense.
With so many shitty beings in the world who are taking up space and contributing nothing, it's so sad that a great guy who "was here to serve" the projects he worked on had to leave us so soon.
