At 65 years and a crocheter.........and with this cold weather....and I have never knitted‼️‼️‼️‼️. This piece inspired me‼️‼️‼️‼️. This old dog learned a new trick. I am a quarter of the way thru and trucking onward. Thanks for posting. Praying that I will be able to conquer the longer capelet when posted. God bless
I searched so hard for a skirt pattern and this one works perfectly! It's so easy for beginners Also I made the terrible mistake of using a different gauge and making it 72 stitches. Also also because I'm lazy I put markers every 12 stitches so I don't have to count, then it's just a matter of paying attention to the odd stitch
OMG, Bree... we hadn't thought of it as a skirt pattern until now! So cool you shared this in a comment. We will share this idea of yours on a post, if that's ok with you. With due credit, of course. Soo cool. Please do share a photo later on if you have a chance: joannesweb@gmail.com
Thank you. I wanted to make a long cloak but other method catch me in clue so I find this way easier than crochet my long cloak. Plus to do my math for quadruple or quintuple the very short length of this cape. None of the cape knitted, crochet or weaved show any cape or cloak made in round. I only found one but it was only for BABY! Why we can't have it for adult size? I will make one with a yarn I did found very nice and soft, fluffy... I just wanna make the cloak of my dream! I hope these calculating will be just right! 😎👍😍
I love your cape patterns!! I am following your pattern & for some reason your cast on looks wider then mine. I’m using the same size needle & I have three yarns to make it thick & it still looks narrower then yours. Is the cast on the neckline? I think I’m missing something!! I do not have a yarn shop to help me so I’m hoping you might be able to. Thank you
Hi there thanks to your tutorial my human is almost finished knitting this cape for herself. You mentioned you could put a button hole in , can you please tell me where it would need to be placed for best results ? Thank you for your great tutorials Take care :D Teddy
Don't forget, they have magnetic sew-on 'buttons' now (one half on each surface that should "kiss"). That could be relevant, especially if you are knitting for someone who is losing their hand dexterity ❤️
Hello Joanne, I have a question about this stitch pattern, as pretty as it is. With those number of stitches, can you DOUBLE the amount of stitches? Like for example, 36 times 2 is 72. Go on from there, can the sets of stitches be DOUBLE because I an using a ChiaoGoo 5.0mm circular knitting needless. Is that possible? I am excited to hear from you because you make stitch patterns very easy! Thank you for these beautiful videos!
And another quick question: Since I have 72 stitches knitted on my needles, can I knit instead of 2 rows, 4 rows instead as it doubles the pattern? Because remember, for 36 stitches I begin with knitting 2 rows. Is that possible?
Love this pattern. Its lije tge wavy one you did. What keeps this piece from having the ripples, or waves on the bottom like the white one? You show? Thank you.
If you end up with 60 rows, you're repeating 59 TIMES. If you repeat 60 times, you'd actually have 61 rows. You have to have one original row, before you can say you're repeating. cast on 36. Knit one row once, and back. Knit 12, turn work, pass stitch, bring yarn to back, put stitch back, knit 12 back. knit 24, turn work, pass stitch over, bring yarn to back, pass stitch back, knit 24 back. knit 36. knit 36 back. Repeat this formula another 59 times, to give you 60 rows.
Say, I wanted to make this a bit longer. Could I cast on 48 stitches and then do the wrap and turns at 12, 24, 36 and then K all 48 and repeat that sequence? Thanks 😊
Buongiorno signora 😘 Tutorial fantastico 👍👍mi sembra indicato per me che sono una principiante. Le sarei grata se ci sarebbero i sottotitoli in italiano. Mille ringraziamenti ❤❤ 🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🙏 Mille ringraziamenti
May I please ask a question right off the bat? When you slip stitch to lay yarn inbetween the stitches then put it right back when you turn its VERY similar to a short row. I'm not certain you have really ever shown any short row shaping other than this. I'm absolutely could be wrong. But do you do this rather than a wrap and turns? Or do you use short row wraps and turns also, just haven't taught us them yet? Is this what I'm thinking of somewhat of a segway into them in order to do the sweater as my answer spoke of during the survey section to this KAL. Or do you use wrap and turns for shaping or is this what you prefer? Do (you) do them this way? Thank you. SO GLAD THAT YOU PICKED A CAPLET. This turning and going back aka short rows is the next thing in knitting that I feel I need to understand. So I (can) do shaping. so I can make something like a sweater or a sock even. I dont want to knit shawls, blankets, and scarfs only. lol I totally love these caplets. Very classy. My over all goal is I want to get to making garments. This is a great segway to a garment, impo. Thanks sooo much!!!!
When I make these caplets, I wrap and turn so I don't get a hole with only turn and knit back. One side becomes shorter than the other. You can make sweaters like this also. We'll get to sweaters soon. Other projects shown before: ua-cam.com/video/GbjM3-IalJU/v-deo.html
I would love to do this in lighter yarn. If I use #3 yarn how would I change the cast on and needle size change. Thanks for any help you can give me. X
For thinner yarn you would have to make a swatch. If it's a #3 yarn you would probably need #8 US needles and 15/30/45 stitches. Try to see how long it gets
May I ask the st count of 36 is that the length of the caplet and if so what cast on multiple you are using? I would like to make my caplet longer & what the cast on of multiple would help me determine my length. Thanks in advance.
Qs... 1) Is there an increase of two rows between each set of three? 2) I'm assuming that the narrow end is the collar, I would like to make the collar in a different color, ie, grey and the body of the work in pink, what is the best way to do this? 3) What is the best way to keep track of my rows? .. Thanks in Advance ..
Yes, the short part is the collar. If you want it another color, change on the stitch before the yarn over. Doing Intarsia. ua-cam.com/video/Whb_fqaGyxE/v-deo.html
thank you for the video. This is going to be nice for sitting in A/C. please clarify the pattern. You cast on then knit 2 rows and then 3 short rows. That equals 5 knitted rows. You say to repeat the "6" rows. How do I get the additional row? I'm thinking that it could be knit 3 plain rows and 3 short rows = 6 rows. repeating 60 times.
At the start ONLY, you want 2 knitted rows. Then the repeat is: k12, turn and 12 back. Knit 24, turn and 24 back . Knit 36 and 36 back. At the end, you knit 2 rows, the same as the beginning.
I want to do it like... For at least 4 feet of long! Dunno how much stitch its require, but I have the type of yarn that please me a lot and I know I will need to go to my store for get some more of this fluffy yarn for be able to do it. Now I know the technic and how I will do it, i just need to do the math and I will know how much stitch I will need in total for the big size cloak I need to do.

Hi Joanne, i made this lovely cape for my sister this past winter. She absolutely loved it!! I would like to make it again but, in fingering weight (purl soho’s Linen Quill, 50% wool , 35% alpaca & 15% linen) I DO not know how to figure out how many stitches i would have to cast on. I would appreciate it if you could help me. Thank You. Your patterns are lovely😊🧶
Yes Dianne. Please make a swatch with about 30 stitches. Measure it and see hao many stitches you get for 4" or 10cms. ua-cam.com/video/F8aCXjklAA0/v-deo.html... ua-cam.com/video/77OZDoWPlok/v-deo.html Now you know how many stitches you need for the with you want. Now you divide the total amount of stitches in 3 parts.

Weave in ends

You can add stitches. Divide the amount the same way. If you have originally 12/24/36 you can change to 20/40/60.
