New Castle, Pennsylvania Worst Crime Areas

- Here's some of the worst, run down, and most dangerous places in New Castle, PA. This is a rust belt city that has been plagued by economic depression and an overall crime rate 36% higher than the national average. After the decline of the industrial era with the closing of mills and production factories in the 70's and 80's, New Castle was hit hard and has been trying to recover ever since. The population has been on a steady decrease for many decades now and is currently sitting at around 21,087 as of 2022. Is it looking better than years before, is there a revitalization in progress? Let's take a drive and see.
This is New Castle Pa. I was born and raised here and still live here. I graduated from New Castle High School and now I work there. Just like any town you have your good and bad. When tragedy hits this town pulls together like no other. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
I just moved here and people think im crazy but I actually love it here. My neighbors are awesome we all know each other and help each other. We are close to Ohio and Pittsburgh. Its what you make of it. There is good and bad everywhere.
The historic district is beautiful.
These videos are important. I wish more people would see them. You are showing a side of our society that most people don't have a clue about.
I live in new castle. I actually bought my dream home here with my wife, our first one. She graduated from new castle. It’s not as bad as people think. There are some bad spots of course, but it’s safer than you would think. I’ve never been a victim of a crime, luckily, and I love my neighbors and neighborhood. Some of my family tried to talk me out of buying a house here but the house was just too perfect and I want to have faith that one day this city will start to lift up again and I want to be there for it.
Born there in 1944 (at the then "New Castle Hospital" -see it at the 4:45 mark), left in 1968. Downtown New Castle was the place to be in the 1950's, especially on Monday nights when all the stores stayed open late. Walked there with my buddies from my home on the east side. My father worked at the Johnson Bronze from 1929 or so until the late '60's. The place started going WAY downhill around the time I left. Last time I spent any time there was in 2018. Every time I'd go back to visit relatives from 1968 to then, I wanted to cry at the pace of its demise. Even Coney Island on the Diamond is gone. If you remember John Mitsos (the owner with the ridiculous comb-over), then you are in elite company. Then again, if you do, like me, you don't have too long to go...
what street did u live on (on the East side)? just curious. i grew up on Rose Ave
New Castle located halfway between Erie and Pittsburgh is just like most other cities, towns, and villages throughout the rust belt, a deteriorating, impoverished mess. How horribly sad.
If you build a lot of housing projects in a city with declining population, it devalues the real estate big time.
dynamite factories didn't help much, either.....
I grew up there and the population was 45,000. Graduated in 1970. North Hill was a nice place to grow up and it looks the same now.
It's so strange, even when you can tell people are still living in an area, where are they all ?? All these ride alongs, it's like a silent apocalypse has taken place. Their just gone !
The house 10 seconds in was my grandparents. Some of my best memories were in that house with my family. Sad to see how it looks now.
Thank you so much Hoods N Hollers for uploading this great video, I appreciate it!

I'm from New Castle, My wife and I moved away back in 2012. New Castle will always be home no matter where I live.
So sad to see how the whole area of Western PA outside of Pittsburgh has gone downhill. 😪
I moved there in 1973 and got married. My ex husband opened up a pipe company . Being a southern girl it took a little getting use too but after a few years it became home. We lived on the North Side on Elizabeth street. It was nice then.
I lived here for many years and never knew how bad it was here!
Doesn't look that bad.
It's terrible here is sad that u gotta watch your back everywhere u go here if not u become a victim
I grew up in New Castle..left a long time ago.. still have family there..so sad to see how bad it is now.. wasn't that bad many years ago.
I was just looking online at a gorgeous house in NC . It’s on Edison Ave. All the houses near looked nice. I guess these houses and projects are farther away? I started doing research & it lead me here. Wow. It’s very depressing . Sad. I’ll look elsewhere! Thank you .
A very dismal looking place with all those projects. On the positive side: Projects are better than urban decay.
@@jeffreywilkey935 good one
I been there once my cousin had a concert there. We drove from Cleveland. I really didn't get a chance to ride around. Didn't know it was so many projects there
When I was editing this I was thinking the same thing lol
I live in New Castle on the east side... My neighborhood ain't that bad lol
You forgot 1 of the projects lol....
Which one, is it behind the store on top of the hill? Trying not to give it away lol.
@@hoodsnhollers the place was near a Sunoco gas station. I forgot the name. But it had a bar in there. Then the other side had a stage. It had two floors.
0:40 The New Castle Projects
The amount of subsidized housing is impressive, and I don't mean that in a good way. A lot of late model cars parked in those parking lots. Government(taxpayers) pays your rent and probably your food and utility bill, you spend your money on a car you probably can't afford. Yeah, that's a sign of a healthy country.
The more of these videos I watch the more I think we're doomed.
Where I live it is similar. What happens all too often. The woman on welfare pops out a couple kids. The boyfriend who has a good to descent job moves in and pays nothing and gets all the perks. His car is the new one parked out front.
I lived in New Castle from 1989-1996. My Ex husband and his family had an Auto Wrecking business on Cascade St.
The only one left is Cascade.
The building that is Cascade Auto Wrecking use to Hunt’s Auto Body….owned by my late father Jimmy Hunt. Closed in late 80’s.
This is where "The Management" is from.
12:15..Was a Days Inn in the 80's and '90's..Was at a few wedding receptions there...My Mother always said she couldn't figure out why they built that Hotel there.
I am working on a video about New Castle right now. I am wondering if you would give me permission to use some of your footage in this video.
New Castle PA ain't as bad as people make seem I live here it's the people that's bad not the town
I’m in New Castle for one day of work (staying overnight) and I can’t wait to get the hell out of here and back to NY. This little town is poor and horribly depressing.
the old shenango china building is still up I wonder if anything will become of that? those projects around 3:11 are terrible always drove on 422 to go around them
isn't pretty much EVERYTHING closed-down in PA is still there?
I live in Westview an its beyond terrible always gonna watch ur back here
Is that school for bad kids still out there? I remember all my friends in Philly being sent to New Castle, I thought they we’re talking about NC Delaware for a long time
no. its not anymore.
YDC (youth development center)
also called FREW MILL
SCHOOL until the early 2000's
Damn lol. I deliver to a certain department store. New castle is my last stop on the route and I park here overnight on Monday nights. Like, right now lol. Just from the little bit I see of this town I thought it would be pretty nice 😂
Lived there for 1 year as my wife did an internship in mercer County. The country is beautiful but that town was dreadful. Why people stay there I'll never know. So many more affordable places to live in the US. That area has been dying a slow and painful death.
this town hasn't been the same since my cousins closed yerage's restaurant.
Sad what’s happened to these places. My Dad grew up in NC, and said it used to be a pretty nice working class town
So glad I moved away 16 years ago. How depressing
If landlords would fix up the rentals
Amazing content! 👍
Thanks so much!
On the westside he drove passed my place
There is deffinlty some areas that are not great. However, there are some beautiful spots of new castle that you can experience!
Born and raised here...wld never live anywhere else...love my city
The same as any other place in America even the suburbs danger is everywhere, buckle up kids
I once lived in New Castle in the early 90s. I worked at a family-owned chocolate company called ( Kiasis Candy) spelling of name ? Many moons ago.
Caiazza Candy 😊
They forgot the jail. And court house.
I live in NC
I watched New Castle,PA not far from Sharon, my sister in-law and some friends of mine live in New Castle, my father in-law originally from Pittsburgh, I’m searching the video of Sharon, it wasn’t show.
Planning to move there, is it a good idea?
Was born there. Just like any other town you have the good and the bad
New Castle is close to where I live.
next u need to hit up arnold/new ken pa
very nice beutifull towns 👍👍👍👍
I grew up in new castle (coaltown hill). I watched the decline as I grew up. graduated HS in '82 and got the hell out. never looked back. things were not good when I left, and they just continued to deteriorate. I haven't been back, even for a visit, since the late 80s. awful place
They have alot of public housing there.
I don't think the problem is the town or the city is the people living there not taking any pride where they live and taking care of their houses and at least painting it some home owner are cheap and a messed.
I been around them places before,
You forgot Brinton Hill projects 😂
I hate living in New Castle!! If I could move as soon as tomorrow I would in a heartbeat!!
That place is hell. Run people run!!!!!
Quanta tristezza in un posto così bello!
Once again, nothing much left but the projects - or are they supposed to be condominiums? Either way, no thanks.
I know alot of these places
It do be good
Thanks to the plethora of drug dealers since the 80s...great work!
this is not new castle pa-went into new castle for 30 years-never saw any of these places
Then you don't know the city lol granted I haven't seen some of these places, he has shenango China in here which everyone knows is new castle 🤣
Reply to the truth....you never got off the main street that's why... you didn't see the blight. Go on west grant. Turn on a side street. It right in plan sight. Remember the group of people who ran the town in the past. Drove business out and ushered in poverty. It was ran like the Sopranos from the HBO cable t.v. show from New Jersey.
Definitely new castle pa lol
That is the old Lockley factory on Mill street at 8:02. Yes this is sadly New Castle.
This is new castle pa
notice not one sign saying this is new caste pa
What would you want to be written on the sign. Welcome to hell? The pass politicians and kick backs did the town to satinville....
who would admit it??
Yo was that lolo walking down grant 😂
Hola!!
Hola!
