I'm wondering why doesnt pa have a place that can take a certain part of the building to preserve it for later as a museum educational purposes heck in quincy Illinois there's a place that does that anytime an old building is getting torn down they go and get a certain piece and save it..
Incompetent, immoral low-class people in New Castle government let these historic buildings rot and then they tear them down. It's happened over and over again. Cascade Park was one of the first amusement parks in America, look at what happened to IT. It should have been given national historic landmark status and saved. Nope. They TORE IT ALL DOWN! Same thing with the old Elks building. Incompetent idiots in leadership positions in New Castle have ruined what used to be a really great place to live. Absolutely sickening.
I had a realtor reach out to me to make a video of an old barn. The owner was having trouble selling it and my video helped make a sale. Id absolutely reach out to the realty company and ask to film to help promote sale.
When the US Postal service moved to a new location near the downtown mall, the original PO Building was home to Catholic Charities, medical treatment for those with mental disabilities, etc. I wonder when they finally stopped using the building after Catholic Charities moved to a larger space back in the early 2000s? My mother's office was overlooking the street when she used to work for Catholic Charities in that building on the top floor.
it was such an awesome place back in the day! i remember going there with my dad and grandpa back in the 70's..you should have gone over to the post office lunch and had lunch..best chili fries. or at least they used to have
I have been in the building when it was a post office years ago, it was as impressive on the inside. When the industries pulled out of New Castle so did the people and small businesses, New Castle is but a skeleton of what it once was back about 50 or 70 years ago.
Incompetent idiots in New Castle government gave us the decay we see today. Historic landmarks torn down. Manufacturing businesses prevented from opening up. Just unbelievably stupid decision making by the so-called "leaders" of New Castle. They do nothing but "lead" the city into 3rd world status. Nothing but decay everywhere. Sickening.
Who the hell would close down a nice historic post office building like this? I wouldn't mind posting my Ebay parcels in there if they were still in business hehe!
As big as this building is, it did not have the space needed for the Postal Service. Very limited parking for postal vans, limited floor space inside. The structure is big and impressive outside, not so much inside.
These old buildings are beautiful especially seeing the marble at the entry way & I'm willing to bet could be more marble walls as old banks had. I'd guess at the looks of the outside could be more than 100 years old but I could be wrong. Thank you for sharing Wallie.
I was born and raised in N.C. it is on the diamond in downtown New Castle caddie corner to what is or used to be the Penn Power office and right across the street from P.O. Lunch. If I remember correctly it has marble columns and worn marble stairs inside. My Dad worked there in the 60's and early 70's. It is or was beautiful inside.
In downtown Freeport ILLINOIS,There's a Post office structure.like this one a lot older with balconies at above Windows.U can see inside, where building was remodeled.with glass intact.of outside wall.Inside
The old post office in Winston Salem looks exactly like this one. They left the exterior the same but converted the inside to a medium sized concert venue.
There is an abandoned Kmart in Franklin, PA on Allegheny Boulevard, rumor has it is that a Rural King was supposed to go in there, but that was supposed to be last year. Kmart still sits abandoned, and also on Allegheny sits an abandoned KFC, Long John Silvers, Bonanza and A place called Atmospheres (used to be an old Wendys).....please check them out, you got alot of stories you could do here.
I live in an old coal mining town in PA and there are multiple abandon buildings here. Some even with the fall out shelter signs like the old Commercial Hotel.
I grew up not far from this and was in that building back in the 70s and early 80s. It is a cool building. We still have one in use like this in Altoona where I live now. Yeah, definitely stay away at night. New Castle has really gone downhill.
I remember back in the 40s and early 50s the sign out in front of the post office said uncle Sam needs you (Military sign) wow how this building has decayed so very sad
Sadly the post office lunch, their awesome chili dogs, chili cheese fries and fries with gravy are now part of the past, its now a pizza shop, po lunch did move for several years to neshannock twshp, but also closed a few years back and are definitely missed.
I've been trying to get in here for about a year and a half now. The only time I could have I didn't have my camera and by the next week they had boarded up that entrance.
Hay Wallie you should come to Delaware State We have a couple abandon big box retailer in Bear (im from Philly Pa Trans Planted to Delaware 4 years ago.
That place would make a good museum of some kind. You should call the realtor and ask if they would meet you there and you could film a video for them. All they can say is No.
Very much reminds me of Lorain,Ohio Post office🇺🇸🦅must've both been built during the depression very similar look.🏛It too was replaced by a modern facility on the east end of town nearer to interstate 90.Is the post office that also replaced Sheffield Lakes office which is now a woodworking shop.🗜
Real estate doesn’t have any inside pictures, but now I see why. If you explore anything abandoned in New Castle, best bet to take someone with you. New Castle isn’t exactly safe anymore these days. Maybe you can call the real estate agent & schedule a showing.
The place is locked & boarded up, ass clown. Wallie has respect for places he’s not able to get into. He doesn’t wanna take a chance of getting in trouble for breaking & entering. If you follow Wallie like I do, you’ll come to realize that’s just not who he is.
Actually, he has gone inside of a few places when he found the door unlocked. He's been inside a couple of closed down restaurants he's filmed so he does go inside places sometimes.
Why don't you just call the realtor and see if you can set something up? Hopefully someone could buy it and renovate into housing for homeless Veterans..
It is up for sell it is the cost to fix those old buildings is what keeps buyers from wanting it and also some ppl have to put their input on how the buyer should do with it when it's his or her money who is fixing it up..
Was inside many times when it was a functioning post office. It was nice inside.
_That is beautiful! What a shame it has fallen into this state._

That is a good idea
That's awesome!
@@billl1127 I think the building is for sale because it was being leased to doctors.
@@misterhat5823 On 2nd thought, I think you're right.

I walked into the post office when I was a child, 1949 Is massive.
It would make a great local museum building - it’s beautiful.
The USPS closed this location in 1982. Continued to be used by retail tenants until 2018/19. Abandoned now.
This town looks like Biff's 1985 Hill Valley
I lived there for a few years before divorcing my spouse and New Castle. It's a drug infested rat hole.
Such a beautiful building. I love the old designs on it. Looks like this inside might be falling apart tho. Great explore!!!
What a shame. Such a beautiful building
When I was young we were in that place all the time mailing packages. The place is built with tons of marble and iron. It's beautiful
it was such an awesome place back in the day! i remember going there with my dad and grandpa back in the 70's..you should have gone over to the post office lunch and had lunch..best chili fries. or at least they used to have
Post office lunch hasn’t been there for probably 8 years. They moved to neshannock And are now closed for good

This is my home town I remember going in there when I was younger.
The church next is empty as well there was a daycare on the side by burger king.
I was in there many times. Thought there were marble floors , & built very sturdy. Area across street is The Diamond..
My mom told me The Diamond used to be for the rich people. Now it’s an apartment building
Who the hell would close down a nice historic post office building like this? I wouldn't mind posting my Ebay parcels in there if they were still in business hehe!
The cost of running that old building. The USPS has been financially strapped since the government quit subsidizing it.
As big as this building is, it did not have the space needed for the Postal Service. Very limited parking for postal vans, limited floor space inside. The structure is big and impressive outside, not so much inside.

Built during the Depression.
So sad.. What a beautiful old building. Seems unreal its been empty that long.. So freaking amazing looking.. So much history there
The building reminds me of the New Kensington Pennsylvania post office
I used to work in New Castle and i dont rmemeber seeing this building. May have to take a trip down to New Castle today. Awesome video.
It's right near the Cascade Galleria.
@@WallieB26 ok cool. Just missed it lol thanks for the info.

Get out of my town bro! 🤣 I’m kidding man, I love your vids!
Sadly, appears the inside is in poor shape. It would be an awesome explore, though. Love that fallout shelter sign (I have one).
How sad..back in the 70s it was a Library..and it was so awesome...
Doesn't Lawrence county have an historical society that could make an effort at preservation.
now that is totally awesome video abandoned united states post office - new castle, pa
I used to go there when I lived there in the 60s
if it was haunted they could rent it out for paranormal ghosthunting tours
Amazing architecture. People drive by everyday and don't ever stop to take a look. Shame too much urban decay
That is one beautiful building. They don't make them like that anymore. This old post office reminds me of the one in McDonald, PA.
In downtown Freeport ILLINOIS,There's a Post office structure.like this one a lot older with balconies at above Windows.U can see inside, where building was remodeled.with glass intact.of outside wall.Inside
It's an outright sin to let such a fabulous building go to waste. They don't build them like that anymore.
I bet , when new. The postal office had to be the Mac daddy building. But for what it looks , I can just imagine , what it past glory looked like.
Classic and beautiful architecture
The old post office in braddock which is apartments now is just as cool looking
The old post office in Winston Salem looks exactly like this one. They left the exterior the same but converted the inside to a medium sized concert venue.
You walk by a realtors sign in the video (around the 7:00 mark). Call them and ask for a tour or a chance to film the interior.
This is a beautiful place! 😍
Hey maybe u should talk to them about that maybe they'll let u go in to film so buyers can can what it looks like inside and how good/bad it is
I second that
Great looking building. Wonder why this happened to it.
Awesome video guys

Vintage old building!
Reminds me of the old Chambersburg PA post office which is now the library.
Chase bank closed a bunch of branches in my area recently. Have you ever visited and filmed an abandoned bank?

I grow up in New Castle Pa it was a nice place to live 50 years ago but now it’s a sh*thole, what a shame.
Out of curiosity, I check the Howard Hanna website to see what the asking price is; I was surprised that its only $150,000.
Needs a roof and asbestos remediation.
Someone needs to set up a ghost alien show for you. You have been on youtube for years and still no aliens or ghosts, LOL
