The surprising thing is that starting to learn English at a very young age still does not change the problem of weak spoken English.

Maybe they have good English, but the problem is practice. They have to practice it more with other English speakers to become better and more fluent in the language.

I would have thought that they would be better... but its true.. the practice part and speaking out loud is very essential. English is my second language and I learned it since I am 4 years old but I still get nervous speaking to natives or out loud in general because I think I might butcher words... so they did a good job!!

I was suprised by their speaking level! So many Chinese students go abroad for university, that I assumed that the top 1% students in China would be able to speak English well. I have more respect now for the Chinese students at my UK university. They say they feel self conscious about their English sometimes, but they speak better than the top 1% in China so I think they should be proud and have more confidence!

Generally, students planning to study abroad will practice their English Speaking in advance to pass the IELTS or TOEFL exams, while those training is not something that most Chinese students need. so···

The only problem they have is they lack of practical exams. I am from Slovakia and we have classes of communication in English language with lector from USA and it's working great! (we also have traditional English classes too)

The thing that is weird is when I see similar videos on other channels the level seems to be higher on the other channels.

Because China's public education does not train students in spoken English, in most cases people have to spend a lot of money to learn that, so

I hope they can interview me. Although I am still far from the top 1 school, I still feel a little ashamed 😅. I don’t want other people in the world to understand us like this. I don’t want to admit that this situation is true.

Interesting about the girl dating another girl, still not socially acceptable in most of China.

The replies in Mandarin are too long and also the subtitles...
Your video would benefit from instant oral translation from Mandarin into English.

    如果问台湾的学生,那么他们的日语可能比英语更好,因为在日占时期强制台湾人学习日语。大陆的学生过度专注语法、阅读和写作、口语听力一塌糊涂也是正常的
