    Learning Air Flares has been a fun journey so far. I have become a lot stronger and have learned a lot of things that I couldn't do before including holding freezes on my other arm and controlling the swing into my power moves. Although I am a slow learner, I feel really good about the progress I have made. Breaking doesn't happen overnight so you must dedicate yourself to learning in order to make progress. I am happy to share this with you and I hope it inspires you to keep training.

      Hello sir.. Just a tip of advice. Ur airflare is too high esp. when u start. So most of the time ur just relying on a pike hop. Try to lower both legs a little when both hands are in the floor like a high planche (your butt must be the highest in that position) and SWING ur left leg under until it comes up to pike.. It helps the momentum. Try to watch also different variations and techniques of airflare. Hope it can help you😊🙏. Happy new year

    Yo man dope stuff. I can't do airflare but I've been training it for years, given up and started again only to give up again. I do have some pointers though after studying footage for literally years at this point.
    The main thing I can say is, don't forget about your head! This is such an overlooked part of the body in tutorials or when people are trying to instruct. Where your head goes your body will follow!
    What I've noticed in your case is your head is to far away from your pushing arm (arm that has contact with ground) arm when you throw! If you look at a lot of bboys who have the best control in airflare they almost have their head tucked into their armpit (bit of an exaggeration, but think of like a 90 where you tuck your head in and extend your shoulder blade to force your arm into into the floor.
    When you throw your head is coming away from your pushing arm which is pulling your body down and in line with and parallel to the floor. You are falling down from here and no matter how hard you kick your legs it's going to be a losing battle.
    Point your head towards the floor and when you throw imagine the top of your head pointing towards the floor before you actively look across to the floor on the other side to catch, still keeping your head close to your catching arm shoulder not away from it. Good luck. And don't forget about the head/where you are looking.

    I’m thinking of making a tutorial for people who suffer from thoracic outlet syndrome.. but just thought I’d add that air flare is one of those moves where if your start with the illusion hopping then as you do them like a spinning quarter starts losing speed the rotation begins to change from being 1990 high to sinking deep into that sweet spot.. like when a coin starts using more of its surface space. Air flare is a result of perfecting starting at that wobbly point. For it would have been impossible for my body to properly articulate or physically pronounce the throw and catch with 100% certainty and confidence of I am going throw catch and land this with out the possibility or worry about my feet coming down so it becomes fun to really try exaggerate parts of the air flare.. for me the crash killed a lot of morale.. also I’m really good at dead mans since ur a righty like me it wouldn’t be a waste effort to end your practice with trying execute one rotation because when u land perfectly that’s what it feels like

    I think it might help when you step out into your starting stance to make sure your hip is internally rotated so that once you wind your leg and finally get upside down, ready to kick, the leg will have moved into external rotation. I noticed you step out with your hip quite square, which I’ve found gets me into an internally rotated hip position of the sweeping leg right before I kick the other leg toward my face when attempting to flare. I think the internal rotated hip at that point prevents you from pushing your hips up. It’s perhaps something to experiment with.

    Shorten the strap. Follow the street lock timing I always blurb. Pop/hop on the snare, earth on the third count and hold til the next snare. Breakbeat. Advanced will be half the tempo or double. 45, 90, 180, 360. Not just slow or fast... Dance. Your shoulders are flexible so it's landing too quick. It's a twist much more than a push. The push, it's just a hop. You don't kick around, you twist the whole thing. The move is in the side abs. Pikeless straight legs makes you a champ. You don't have to fly to get air. 99 #strictlycoach I think

  • @MJ-ru9iw
    @MJ-ru9iw 3 роки тому +1

    So close Vince. Great progress!!! As I mentioned before in an earlier comment its that left leg. Swing your left leg under first like a halo; they are called Air Tracks for a reason. This will give you more momentum before you pike/invert so that you don't have to muscle it as much to throw over. Decide if you are going to "pump" airflare, traditional (swooping leg/straight leg) airflare or a combination of both swoop and pump.
    Remember that an airflare is a combination of a swipe, ninja and windmill or halo into one move. There are two basic ways to catch i.e. like a swipe or back and around.
    Keep your left leg straight and swing it like a halo. Can you do Halos? This will improve your Airflares. If you can't you must supplement it with a ninja. In other words you must have these foundation and intermediate moves strong and like second nature before approaching an advanced move like an airflare. The stronger the foundation and its roots the stronger the tree will become.
    Lastly, speaking of Halos. There isn't a tutorial on Halos. Something to consider for future content. Maybe even break down each move and what foundation will improve each area of the move e.g. one arm inverts on each arm will improve airflares or icey ice (headglide) and pilot freeze are prerequisites for Halos, coffee grounder for 4 steps, etc.

    I know this video is old, but 2 little tips that could help you especially since you're in your mid 30s, with regards to your comment about getting sore the next day if you don't stretch.
    1. You mentioned you are doing strength training as part of your practice, like benching or dead lifting. First tip is warm down before stretching. After lifting heavy for however many sets you can, drop the weight to almost nothing and lift through the full motion focusing on form for a couple of sets at high reps. This will help massively before going into stretching with muscle recovery.
    2. You probably think i will suggest taking protein, but that goes without saying, if you want to get stronger with any physical activity, you should always be taking protein, (for this kind of activity about 1.2g per kg of body weight over the course of a day should be ok)... this will help develop the muscle you need, but the real second tip is to also take daily magnesium supplements. This really helps with muscle recovery and healing, and almost completely eliminate soreness and stiffness the next day, and aids with building muscle.
    Thanks for the videos, all the best.

    Awesome!! I think you're arms are great and your legs too ( doing the pike).. but your hips are off. Try to focus more on them. Keep them high and even "pop your hips a bit as you jump. This will give you more airtime to maneuver and place your landing arm more stably. You can further practice hip control by keeping your legs bent, in doing so you will decrease momentum in the swing. I did an airflare evolution video! check out >> pave low airflare evolution, if you want. My hips are usually high up but I still throw them big arms airflares. Good success!

    You are not keeping your hips high. Your whole torso completely drops. Keeping your hips high will allow you to re-gain momentum by swinging your leg upwards and continue. Think of a fan that you suddenly hold it by the fan blades so the base starts to spin. The base is your arms and torso.

    Example. Your really strong with your ninja freeze. If I asked you to ninja freeze to the left, then do the ninja freeze to the right out of it, it's no problem for you - cuz u have mastered those. If you mastered hand hops, u can do airflares like Lil Amok. He will do #1 hand - hand hops, then he will go #2 hand - hop, then basically hop and catch the hand hop on the other side with hand #3 - so to speak. Easy, cuz he has hand hops on lock. Lil G, does fold over pikes slow mo, then leans over and does a little hop and catches on the other side for airflare. So in that sense its true when they say u need hand hops and pikes. But that doesn't hold true for swinging airflare. It appears u are trying to do the Lil G style of handhops.

  • @kendalgee5808
    @kendalgee5808 Місяць тому

    Pike airflare is not about speed and momentum. Pike airflare is about the angle of your fold over pike. Your can throw it as fast as you want, but if your pike angles are off, it is for nothing. You have a good stand alone fold over pike, but ironically when you NY start, you lose some of that angle so ur non swoop leg can't stay close to your face / and it spring loaded / pushes back to the floor. If on the #2 hand u went really deep on the pike angle, u non swoop leg would fold toward you, then u would free fall over your #2 arm, slight hip kip ( not necessarily a traditional hand hop ), and catch pike on other side. Ur thinking of it more like a swooping momentum airflare / also getting confused cuz ur homeboy was trying to teach u a spinning handstand version of it which is technically not an airflare due to the over head throw.

  • @kendalgee5808
    @kendalgee5808 Місяць тому

    If you can't hand hop on both arms at least 5x each, you can't control your body weight. Especially for a pike airflare. Look at your spinning handstands, u look very heavy on the hands. If ur heavy on the hands, and can't hand hop 3-4 times each arm, have you really mastered your body weight? I think your strong point is gravity bound footwork moves. Air power is a different beast. I have a feeling your 1990's are not great. Which is ok. U are very strong at style and footwork. But u need to develop the strength for air power. Starwalks are misleading because your throw over ur head instead of over ur chest as u would in a inverted pike to pike airflare.
