    From what I’ve seen on the I nternet so far this is the most comprehensive demo of this pedal
    Thanks

    Excellent demo, and great guitarwork, rhythm and lead. I own an AT+ and it is the finest overdrive pedal I've ever owned, and I've owned many in almost 40 years of playing guitar. Because of pedals like this, I'm not a fan of most high gain amps. I want a great pedal platform, like a Fender Bassman, Princeton, or my 15 watt Bassbreaker combo. This pedal really is an amp in a box. It has a wonderful transparency that blends with the tone of any amp. It has amazing clarity, crispness, and all around musicality. It goes with me wherever my mood is. Some days I want blazing high gain; others, the edge of breakup. It does everything I need, and I love the boost function, the air knob, which adds wonderful presence without getting terribly brittle, and the toggle switch, although I keep it at the lowest setting most of the time.

      perfectly said. Just got one two days ago and I'm pretty sure I have the only OD I'll ever need. I've only been into pedals last couple of years, frustrated with all of these underwhelming (just my opinion, I know people love to stack them or just put a little edge on their clean) Klon clones vs something like the Friedman BEOD (which is great and ballsy, but pretty one dimensional IMO), nothing that could really run the whole gamut of usable dirt. Also, the boost function is tremendously useful with my verb and delay, adds a little, but not too much, grit. The clarity, simplicity of controls and pethora of useful tones, just a fantastic piece of gear.

    Just bought the V2 version. Jezus Gawd! What a great demo! This pedal does everything you are hearing. It is particularly great on slow singing solos such as "Still Got the Blues" or the old Santana favorite "Europa".

    This is a great pedal. I couldn’t tell from your video, maybe because of UA-cam compression, but I found on mine the EQ actually controls the highest frequencies, and the Air knob controls more like the upper mids. I know what the literature says, but I also know what I’m hearing from my AT+. Either they got their labeling/manual wrong, or maybe mines just wired backwards or something. I do know they got something else in their manual wrong- they called the air knob a high pass filter. It definitely is not a HPF.

    I believe the toggle switch is the same as the Keeley mode on DS1 which basically just clippers. The up position should be the Bat1, the down is the LED clippers, the middle position which has no diode clippers that is why it is open and louder.

      Just built a clone. That's exactly what it is. But that's also how distortion pedals work. No magic here.

    • @leftymadrid

      @@TomVanstraelen255 Yes absolutely! I use the pedal with the first step down switch and of course with the second drive switch and it sounds great, BUT I also discovered that I can combine the "second" step switch of the AT+ with other gain type, OD type pedals and it is surprisingly delicious lol!!!
      Overall super glad I got it. Mind you, I've tried other pedals and they were so so, Oh, another note, if you put the switch setting on 100w and use it on on basically normal volume, like at 11:00-12:00, it sounds fantastic, seems on 25w and 50w settings there's a tad more background noise, at that same volume, at least for me!
      Sounds beautiful with my Stratocaster, AND my L.P. too, though settings have to be moved a bit...

    I’m wondering if this new surface mount unit sounds as good as his first versions ??
    Which I’m asking / guessing his first version was a hand wired using the older components which are not surface mounted ..?

      I could kinda hear that a bit as well but I doubt it's the pedal. Andy himself likes a warmer tone and I bet this guy doing the demo does as well. In my opinion, for it to sound really Marshall-esque, you got up the high end a bit. Should have dialed up the presence higher in the beginning when he started.

  • @drharmonica
    @drharmonica 6 років тому +8

    When you demo a pedal you should demo pedal alone. Not with the echo and reverb on too. I don't want to hear 5 slapbacks I want to hear the pedal by its self so I can accurately judge it's tonal characteristics.

    • @tomquayleguitar
      @tomquayleguitar 6 років тому +19

      Dr. Harmonica Can you explain to me how using a delay changes the tonal characteristics of the pedal in a demo. I hear this a lot, but I can't square the idea of the delay actually changing the sound of the pedal. From my personal perspective I love hearing demos where the pedal is used in a 'true' setting, similar to something I might actually use than totally dry. Also, you can never get a true idea of the tonal characteristics of a pedal from a UA-cam demo since any pedal will sound so drastically different through any given amp and cab combination. Thanks!

    • @tomquayleguitar
      @tomquayleguitar 6 років тому +19

      I guess what I'm getting at here is that, if you're going to complain that using a delay pedal doesn't allow you to hear the true character of the pedal, you might as well complain that your own specific amp and cab weren't used. The difference will be far greater through alternate amp/cab combinations than with a delay pedal on or off.

    • @jjlyon3818
      @jjlyon3818 6 років тому

      I agree with Tom, context makes a world of difference, and delay is expected to a certain extent.

    • @drharmonica
      @drharmonica 6 років тому +6

      No, I don't agree. Delay and reverb make anything and everything sound better. It's a cheap trick to improve the sound and improve the review for the manufacture of the pedal. An honest review would be with a dry sound featuring only the pedal being reviewed.

    • @tomulator
      @tomulator 5 років тому +5

      That's taking things a bit too far imo. Nothing "dishonest" about the review here...no agenda by the reviewer.
