      Jaja thanks for the kind words. I don't make these videos to promote Mexico as much as to promote Freedom and the fact that there are options for people out there stuck in a bad situation in the USA. I often say I just happen to live in Mexico but many of things I am doing and the way I am living can be replicated in many countries around the world. I guess in a way I do promote Mexico but its mostly by accident. I think it's hard to hide the fact I love it out here so much! 😅

    Thank you for all the valuable Info Jose. I was talking to a facilitator about the RNE program as we are planning to move there in fall from canada. I found out that since my wife is Mexican born, my son can just get permanent residency from her through family unity and then I can get the permanent residency from my son, all that for a fraction of cost of getting temporary residency through RNE program. Who knew 😂🙏. That validates what you are talking about in videos. 👍

    I heard they had abandoned trying to stop "permanent visitors" doing border runs, but then, I read some people are still only getting 30-45 day visas when they come back in. So how on earth do you actually get so many years of residency if you have to do border runs every 30 days, and sooner or later, they are going to say "No!" to you re-entering, so all your stuff and your life is in Mexico, and you can't go back in. I wish they would give us asylum, because if Trump is re-elected, a lot of us are going to be hitting the borders of Mx and Canada to get the hell out of dodge.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  4 місяці тому +4

      Again back to what I was saying in the video. There is A LOT of misinformation out there on the subject. They are not cracking down on border runs, they are not turning anyone away, most people get 180 days, but after awhile they might only give you 30-90 days only simply because they want you to get your Temporary Residency through the RNE program. Again i go into more detail in the video and also in this video I did with a Mexican Lawyer ua-cam.com/video/XH9lxrAehSU/v-deo.html

    So let me get this straight...
    I don't need a visa to come to Mexico, but I can and should get one anyway?
    Do I get it after I get to Mexico?
    I have my passport and visa slips in the book, so I get my visa how, exactly?

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  4 місяці тому +2

      Everyone needs a Visa to get into Mexico. As an American Citizen with an American Passport they give you an FMM Visa which is commonly known as a "Tourist Visa" but an FMM Visa is basically a universal Visa that can be used for many things not just tourism. So as an American or Canadian Traveler to Mexico you will get your FMM either at the land border crossing or if you are flying into Mexico the airline will provide it for you on the plane before you land. Once you fill out the appropriate sections you present that FMM to the immigration officer that is checking you in to the country once you arrive. When talking to the immigration officer they just ask you a few basic questions one of which is "how many days are you staying" if you request the maximum 180 days they usually give it to you. That's about it, easy peasy. Hope that information helps clarify things up a bit more.

    If you have TR and get a work permit, does that permit you to work any job or only the job mentioned in the application (I'm assuming they ask you to put it on the application)?

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  4 місяці тому

      If you have a Temporary Residency then you need to get a work permit in order to work or have a formal business. They are 2 different things. If you have a Permanent Residency then you do not need a work permit. Hope that helps clarify things for you a bit more.

    • @Mafiakitty
      @Mafiakitty 4 місяці тому +1

      @@JoseArteagaTravels Yes, I currently have TR. Sorry, what I meant is when you apply for a work permit, for whom does that permit you to work for? Anyone at all? Only the employer you state on the application? Or, if you put your own company down, then could you work for anyone as an independent contractor?

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  4 місяці тому

      @@Mafiakitty If the employer asks for a work permit then you already have it secured, or you need to get one. Not all jobs in Mexico will require you to have one, only formal jobs. And in other cases the Employer themselves will help you acquire one or even sponsor you to allow you to get one and even help with residency. But this is all on a case by case basis and it depends on you, your career, and the employer.

She really loved GDL, and her boyfriend has family there. They want to buy property in GDL. We live in Los Angeles and for the younger generation it is expensive to live. Jose, do you think the rules will change, income requirements, etc., after the election in June? Were these drastic changes in 2024 political? Reaction to the huge increase in North Americans changing the neighborhoods, gentrification, etc.? US handling of immigrant crisis. AMLO is a wily guy and has a strong candidate running in June. thanks. just curious

      @JoseArteagaTravels  4 місяці тому +1

      If you watch the video you will have my answer. Again nothing is 100% Guaranteed but even in that case there are immigration laws in the books that have been there long before AMLO and they aren't changing any time soon. So if someone out there really wants to make Mexico their home then where there is a will there is a way with just some effort and desire to get it done.

    • @kellyname5733

      The income requirements WILL RISE every year as it is tied to Mexican minimum wage. Amlo is not running but his protege is, Claudia Steinbaum. There are 2 women running. Eyder Peralta (conservative) and Claudia Steinbaum (Liberal-Morena party). Morena has taken over 3/4 of the country. Morena is similar to Socialism. So if Steinbaum gets in then you can bet the income requirements will rise in a big way. Do your research.

    I actually find even with the luxury lifestyle it's cheaper here. For example, I rent out a $2100 a month 3 bedroom apartment with ocean views in Puerto Vallarta, amazing place, 1600sq, has a pool and a gym in the building, spectacular. For the same exact thing in Florida it'd be $4000 a month minimum, much more if it was in the Miami area, and if it was California forget about, $7000 a month probably wouldn't even cover it.
    But it gets better, I have cleaning and laundry services here that cost less than half of what they do back in the US, that's right, I'm living that luxury lifestyle, I'm not even doing my own laundry, I pay someone to do it and it's less than half the price for the same service back in the US.
    So I don't know what people mean by luxury, maybe they'd have to have a cook everyday or something before expenses started to equal the US, but again, try paying for a cook everyday in the US and see how much it would cost you, much much more I guarantee it, no body has a private cook in the US unless they're making over 300k a year.

      @@knerduno5942 My electric rarely goes over 5000 pesos for a 2 month period, but I turn of my air when I'm not in the apartment, as do most people here. If you're conservative like this it's not bad at all, some people pay less than what I do, for even larger places.
      Which by the way back in the states I was paying $220 every month which is actually more for a two month period.
      I brought my vehicle down, so I don't have to worry about that. But it's not double the cost here, certain brands can cost as much as 50% more but again it's only certain brands, it really depends on what kind of agreements Mexico has with what ever countries it's trading with, some cars get a higher tariff put on them which leads to a higher end price at the dealer.
      The sales tax is another factor which is 15% here instead of a typical American sales tax between 7 to 10%, but then again Mexico doesn't add that to everything either, most food, cloths, shoes, and anything you'd find in a mercado don't have any sales tax at all.
      in general I'd say looking at net balance people pay less in sales tax here than more, but it does depend on where you shop and what exactly it is you're buying all the time ect ect.

    • @knerduno5942
      @knerduno5942 3 місяці тому

      I pay nearly 4000 peos every two months for only 550 kwh of electric usage. In the US, I could use 750 kwh per MONTH and pay under $100.
      The sales tax rate in Mexico is 15-20%.
      And looking at Chevrolet vehicles. In 2019, I saw the new Suburban selling for $5000 dollars less than in the US. Then come 2023, I see Suburbans selling for equivalent of $100k USD. While you can buy a new one in the US for starting at $55k.
      The people in Mexico living off the $500 dollars a month are the ones living like a cave man at their home, and do not own vehicles. or live with family members, and own a cheap vehicle like a scooter.

      @@knerduno5942 Yea, but where were you living in the US? I lived in the south and $220 dollars a month was minimum for what I needed if I wanted to keep the house at a comfortable 74 degrees most days.
      If you were living somewhere up north then obviously you'd need less.
      But if you live in a mountain town in Mexico, say at an elevation greater than 6000 feet, I've heard of people paying as little as $30 for a 2 month period, I'm not even joking, simply put they don't use air conditioners, they just open the windows and it's fine, maybe use a fan at most, so it just really depends man, try not to compare apples to oranges.
      Yea, it's weird with the car prices, as I've said before it really depends on trade agreements and those agreements can change every couple of years.
      I don't think $500 a month is reasonable to live a good life in Mexico, but it's not a stretch to say that if you're not living in a tourist town that $1500 a month will get you a good life. Now that doesn't mean you're going to be able top afford the best and newest cars on lots or anything like that, but cars are not produced in Mexico man. Stop looking at stuff produced in the US and else where and wondering why it's not cheaper in Mexico, obviously stuff from other countries is going to have a price tag the same or exceeding that where it came from.
      Occasionally I've been able to find good deals of flat screen Tvs produced else where than in Mexico, but it probably had a limited time no tariff on the product and with out a tariff a store can sell it for a little cheaper because they don't have to pay their employees as much. But it's rare, 9 times out of 10 if it's coming from another country it's going to be more expensive than the home country the product originated from.
      But look at your grocery costs, look at house hold items made in Mexico, look at fruits and leather products, and hand made stuff, things you'd find in the market, look at things sold in Cost co in Mexico that are not electronics, all are cheaper than Cost cos at home. Laundry, maid and hair cut service all cheaper bro.
      I went to go get my hair cut 2 days ago, you know how much it cost? $10, just $10! I went go see a movie in theaters a week and a 1/2 ago, you know how much it cost? 100 pesos or about $6.50! You can't get these prices in the states.
      I'm sorry you're struggling to find cheaper prices, but broaden where you shop please.
      As for me though I'd be perfectly content here even if prices were the exact same so long as I got this very low rent for being on beach front property, with a pool and a gym like I have. This alone is worth it to me to live here, but as I've said before I'm always finding cheaper stuff when I search around for it here.

    First of all Jose, these are some prettier streets that you are walking this time than your usual, just my opinion. I like, in fact need beauty in my daily surroundings, so I notice such things. But on the subject of your video, I can attest to what you’re saying.
    I recently got my 4 years temporary residency ID from the migration office here in Oaxaca de Juarez and it was a simple process. I did have legal help btw and of course I had been in and out of the country several times not just for visa runs but to see if I liked another country better. Obviously I decided on Mexico. I had thought that I couldn’t ever get residency too, because I had seen a number of UA-camrs talking about how they did it. They went the usual route of going back home, then to the Mexican embassy proving they had financial solvency and finally being approved. I knew I couldn’t reach the income level to qualify that way, but after watching your video and listening to your lawyer I had hope that I could do it. He was in Merida and I didn’t want to make that trek then I saw another lawyer on UA-cam talking about the RNE program and I realized I might be able to do it here. I went to the Facebook expat group in which I was a member and asked for referrals.
    German Osorio contacted me and we agreed that he would represent me in the process. He was great and I got my residency in one day! I think the biggest hurdle was proving when I first came to Mexico because I think they were working with some time frame. I had first arrived in the country in September 2020, so I was good. I showed them my passport to confirm my dates and that my FMM had expired too. I had to pay a fine, a couple of fees, they took my picture and fingerprints and that was pretty much it. I was so relieved to finally be legal, you have no idea.
    As to cost of living well I get by on about $900.00US a month and I live well, this also includes the cost of my prescriptions. I have a beautiful clean well maintained two bedroom apartment with a lovely attentive landlady who lives right in the building. My apartment is fully furnished, that includes all utilities, WiFi, furniture and basic household necessities. I have maid service once a month included in my rent. I buy drinking water and I do my own laundry, the old fashioned way in a tub with a washboard and then I line dry it out back. I don’t mind that and it helps me to feel more integrated in the community. I rarely shop at any large supermarket as most of my needs I can take care of at the little markets which are only a few minutes walk from my home. I live a simple frugal life and it’s just the way I like it. Great video Jose and thanks for keeping us informed. Btw imo it’s better to visit a country for a while before going through all the changes of getting residency, because you may have a change of heart. I went to Guatemala, Panama, Canada and Ecuador before deciding definitely on Mexico. I’m a U.S. American btw.

Even though like most Americans these days they are paycheck to paycheck and don't own anything out right its all debt. She considers the life she has as "Freedom" and would never live like me but "understands" why I want to live the way I do same as I "understand" how she and others want to live the "American Dream". Sorry to scare you like that! The Title and Thumbnail are more of a sarcastic take on what other people are pushing out there on the same topic. I'm trying to get people to understand there are other options for residency out there besides having to go through a consulate and being approved solely based on financial requirements. Getting residency secured is a major concern for most people moving to Mexico and I am just trying to let everyone know that getting residency in Mexico these days is easier than ever. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks for sharing!

    "Why would Mexico not want you here?" is exactly my question...WHY did they raise the financial residency requirements the way they have, esp if they're circumventable, as you say? Why bother with that at all? (and thank you for your transparency re how much you make per month -- is that for both of you all? Or does your wife also bring in money?)

      Glad I was able to shed some light on the residency situation. Just doing my part to help others looking for a better life. As for the income I mentioned. That is just what I bring in. I am the sole bread winner in the house and I'm able to pay for everything. We like to live a more traditional kind of lifestyle and we both enjoy playing our own individual roles in the relationship. Christian does also make money from all her endeavors but she mainly uses it to reinvest in her career. Being an artist is not cheap 😅 Also with what she makes it helps alleviate any extra expenses she might have such as all the girly stuff women like to buy. I basically pay for all the necessary stuff we need to live and she pays for all her luxuries and her materials and everything else. I'm happy to be able to provide and shes happy she can afford all her stuff and therefore we are both happy with where we are at. We both understand money is just a tool and that true happiness comes from within. Sorry about my philosophical rant 😅 Hope that helps better answer your question

    Oh, thank god..lol outsiders have it so oo easy to become Mexican residents. I've been in the USA for more than 20 yrs
    Even tho. I am married to a professional American woman I still can't get legalized. I pay
    Taxes and I still there is no hope. So I'm glad that finally Mexican politicians is doing something about that.by enforcing stronger laws as well.

      Saying the opposite of the truth gets clicks. No one clicks to watch something they think they already know. Cause drama, say the opposite, people click. "Tesla giving away free cars" people click. "Tesla increases car prices as inflation increases" no one clicks.

      And it just does not have to.

    Hopefully poor people will be discouraged from relocating to Mexico. Mexico needs people who have something to contribute. Most people…those with reasonable financial resources…do just fine.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  3 місяці тому

      Everyone no matter what their income level can contribute to Mexico. As I mention in other videos. "Poor" immigrants come to Mexico to work or set up businesses just like they do in the USA, Canada, and other countries. Therefore contributing heavily to the local economy while at the same time providing cultural exchange. Mexico does not have a welfare system so if poor people come to Mexico expecting a handout they will be extremely disappointed and just go to a country where they actually give immigrants tons of handouts like the USA

      Most of those people are fed a huge lie same as most Americans are fed a huge lie that Mexico is Dangerous and 3rd world. It is sad to see so many who actually make the whole journey actually getting to the USA only to regret their decision and then doing everything humanly possible to return home.

      @@JoseArteagaTravels For sure! Like the US isn't the worst place in the world, I'm sure for some of these people depending on where exactly it is they're coming form they probably are improving their life, but for many maybe not, and you're right it's sad to see those people make that long treck for nothing when there were better places all along.

      Los Americanos y los extranjeros no son los que estan causando los problemas de que te estas quejando. Mexico es un Pais de mas de 127 milliones habitantes. Los extranjeros en total nada mas son como 1-2 milliones en toda la republica. Merida por ejemplo tiene 1 million de habitantes y nada mas 2,500 de ellos son de los estados unidos. Yo amo a Mexico igual que muchos extranjeros pero estas equibocada si piensas que todo el creciemento de la ciudad es para nada mas unos cuantos extranjeros pedorriados como yo. Tambien acuerda que los Estados Unidos tiene una poblacion de 333 milliones y de eso ahi 37 milliones que son Mexicanos. Te entiendo que andas frustrada pero la realidad es que un grupo chico de immigrantes que estan llegando Legal a Merida y el resto de la Republica Mexicana son una minoria y no son los que estan creciendo el pais. Mexico es el pais #11 mas Rico de el mundo. La gente del mundo lo estan descubriendo pero los que se estan beneficiando mas que nadie son los mismos Mexicanos. La gentrificasion es causada por los mismos Mexicanos que quiren crecer el pais. Muchas gracias por sus comentarios. Que Viva Mexico!
