  • Socialize your puppy early to ensure they enjoy the company of new people and animals! Puppies have a critical socialization period that ends at 16 weeks and if you don't socialize them before this you are likely to have issues. You can socialize your puppy before they are fully vaccinated, you just need to make smart decisions. Check out our puppy socialization videos for more guidance! • Avoid This Mistake Whe...

    After missing being socialized during the first fear period, can a dog usually be socialized well enough to not have any long term negative effects?

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining  Рік тому +4

      Great question!!! We often socialize dogs who have missed their critical socialization period and it is definitely achievable, it is just a lot of work. When puppies are socialized at the right time the process is super easy and fun. When it is done later in life it can be a really hard and time consuming process. Let us know if you need any help with your dog!

    Get him another dog to play with and introduce him to a child. Take him to the dog park and stop fooling around with "dog psychiatry". When we were growing up if we heard someone talking about our dog missing his 16 week critical socialization period we would have had a good laugh at The Madman.

      Well, the Critical Socialization Period is a real thing. There are a lot of dogs with fear and aggression issues that were caused by improper or insufficient socialization during this time period. I agree with introducing him to children and other dogs though (not so much about going to the dog park). Thanks for watching!

      Dog parks are a great way to ruin a good puppy. Dog parks are full of aggressive, untrained, poorly socialized dogs and ignorant owners.
      A lot has been learned and advanced in dog training. Old ways of training (ie beating your dog into submission) has been turned into building communication and understanding how dogs think. It makes for better dogs and better owners. You should try to actually learn instead of being ignorant.

      @@CleverClover2023 Totally agreed! We see the aftermath of so many dog park fights and issues. A lot of puppies get jumped at the dog park and then have fear issues that take a lot of work to fix.
      We love when people socialize their dogs with their friends and families dogs rather than going to a dog park.

      @@CleverClover2023 Well, first off, the problematic dog parks in your neighborhood would ALL be at the hand of ignorant humans - nothing to do with the dogs. Growing up we had dogs, as did our neighbors. We knew our neighbors and their dogs. The dogs knew each other since they were puppies. And the dogs knew the mailman. Perhaps instead of sending your dog off for a sixteen week Critical Socialization school (I'm still laughing😆at that one...), you could raise your dog in a normal family-friendly manner? Only the VERY IGNORANT would not understand that dogs, like kids, know how to socialize without your help - without your "advanced dog training". Heh... You mention "beating your dog into submission" - even cavemen didn't beat their wolves, so what are you even talking about - why are you even bringing it up?

    • @SuburbanK9DogTraining
      @SuburbanK9DogTraining  Рік тому

      @@MIN0RITY-REP0RT I don't know of any Critical Socialization School. We mention the Critical Socialization Period in this video, but that isn't a school or "advanced training". It is a time period in a puppies life. We recommend people socializing their dogs during this time period (their first 4 months of life). It is fun, free and easy.
