I was 9 years old when this happened. We lived on a farm east of Deerfield, Ks. the snow covered our house, the whole front yard. We climbed up the highest drift and tied a red rag to mark it. 19 feet high. I think a neighbor came riding on a horse into our front yard and asked us, "Where are your cars?", we said, "you are on top of them". Was that possible?
I recall crawling out the second story window onto the snowdrift. 5 days latter I remember watching the big FWD's with snow blowers from Albany dig through the 15 foot snowbanks.
I recall climbing with my dad to the top of a snowdrift at Foster Music on 7th street, about 2 blocks north of Fulton. The entire door and window above the door , about 8-9 feet, was covered and we were standing above that level
I remember watching the drift on the North side of the house until it was twice of the house and then fall over. Daddy got out scoop shovels and show Laurie and me l how to side down the drift. We lost a lot of cows, they walked with their tails to the wind and got into the fence corners and died. Laurie Oshel, who is one the video, is my sister, I am 2 years older.
If you dont remember it's because its wiped out and never happened. Meaning it was (operative word) and it literally never happened for you. Lost and forgotten. Which truth overtakes lies
too bad the music sucks, is too loud, really annoying subscripts for names and current occupations; but I'm forced to watch because I cherish first-hand accounts of lesser histories.
I remember that when I was very little. I was disappointed when it didn't happen the next year.

I was born in 57! Oddly I don't remember any blizzard that year!
I was born in '50 and I remember bad snow storms every year from the time I can first remember until I went into the navy and spent 2 years in Hawaii.

Do you remember the story of the hunter and the Eskimo?
Why do you have that annoying music?
