I think the styling of the V-Rod has aged surprisingly well. It's a shame Harley didn't continue with this model as it probably would have put the company in a better position than it is now. I think it was quite successful in non-US markets but not so much on home soil where the ultra-conservative Harley buyers couldn't accept such a departure from tradition. It could be argued that Harley Davidson's hardcore fanbase is both its biggest asset and also its biggest liability.
The Destroyer had several shortfalls. One was the limited ability to increase its power. You can do it to a point but it is basically limited to 10,000 rpm----unless you don't mind paying for oiling down a dragstrip.
Harley-Davidson copied the Britten V-1000 and made the VR-1000 race engine. The VR was never reliable so they gave Porsche the task to make it a reliable street bike engine. The V-rod.
Great design and frame... Pity it wasn't a street bike form. Would've done better in Europe if so. They didn't take full advantage of the Porsche brand... Well done, all said and done. 🫡 May😂there be more. These folks really need to think of a dual brand for youngsters/ less conservative riders. They're going to run out of their target audience soon.

The Street 500 & 750 were also similarly based
Apparently the V-Rod did not do well. When was the last time you saw one on the road?
I see mine every day.

HD has never made a product that was even remotely considered reliable. 😂
The bike had two issue - too small gas tank and should have had a 6th gear. Perfect otherwise.
Look at the sportster s the engine looks Japanese not my thing
Say it with me:

Already aged out. The Hd Trike is proof.
