I literally SCREAMED when you were describing Parachutes and you mentioned that Dani is Filipino-American! I’ve been looking for more books with Filipino representation! Definitely adding this to my TBR! Thanks for the recommendation Jananie ❤️
I LOVED Dani Brown!! She is such a wonderful sassy character, I just adore her!! Chloe Brown is just as awesome - I read both back to back and lived for every second!!
I would like to add two books. The first is Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China, by Jung Chang. The author tells a story of her grandmother, a woman with bound feet who was a concubine to a warlord, her mother, a Communist Party official during Mao's time, and her own life. I added it to the list of some of the ladies who lived as ex-pats in Xi'an, China at a time when the Chinese translation was banned. The biggest complaint was the lack of rest as many tried to finish it as quickly as they could. The book is very moving and brilliant. My mother-in-law, who was also part of the Red Guard when she was young loved the book when I borrowed the Chinese version from my local library. She could identify with many of the things that the author was describing and her mother-in-law was also a concubine with bound feet. The second book is Mikhail Bulgakov's, The Master and Margarita. It is a story about hypocrisy, integrity, truth, and courage and stands alone in 20th-century literature. Bulgakov wrote the book during Stalin's 1930s crackdown on any literary works that could be plausibly be interpreted as being anti-Stalinist. The book's main character is Satan, who first appears as a foreigner who claims to ban an expert in black magic. The Rolling Stone song, Sympathy for the Devil, is about him so once you read the book you will know the answer to the question, What's my name? The devil an his minions don't like bureaucrats so they arrange for one to have his head cut off, another to be transported to Yalta so that they could use a theatre for the planned show that will expose the hypocrisy in Stalin's Russia. There is a love story, of course. A writer of an unpublished novel about Pontius Pilate, the Master, and his love, Margarita. The Devil tells a story about Pilate and the failure to do what is right. The book was published in 1967, long after the author had died. The book is brilliant and has inspired ballets, operas, symphonies, countless of movies and TV series as well as a hard porn film that deals with the themes. It is by far the best book that I have ever read.
I found your channel a few days ago and I am so happy to have done so. You are introducing me to books I have not heard about. Thank you for your work, and your excitement.
My latest favorite was Lovely War by Julie Berry! I would highly recommend you read it if you haven't. I just finished Chloe Brown and I'm waiting for Dani Brown to come in the mail! You will love Chloe just as much. Her love interest Redford is great! Adult Romance Recs: The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory, Intercepted by Alexa Martin, The Bromance Bookclub by Lyssa Kay Adams, Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey
Recently finished Get a Life and immediately picked up Take a Hint. I've hardly ever laughed outloud at books (to be fair this isn't my usual genre) but the scene in Get a Life where she's rescuing the cat sent me to outer space 🤣😂 I'm definitely adding the rest of the books in this video to my TBR!
These books all sound amazing and I need to read them!! I recently finished The Poet X and I read it on the page and with the audiobook and as I expected it was incredible. I am 100% planning to read her other works. Love this video!💗
I'm not into romance at even, even side plots, I just don't care lol but the Brown Sisters series is something I'm intereted in, I've heard such great things. I'm on a waiting list for Slay and can't wait to read it. I just listened to the audiobook of Clap When You Land and really enjoyed it. Parachutes is on my waiting list as well, great list! Edit: I loved Just Mercy and I'll be gone in the dark
I have to read Clap When You Land and Slay !!!!!! It’s so hard to get amazing books in India. Amazon has a limited selection. I love comic books but they’re so expensive on amazon aarrgghh
Oh no!!! Hmm... Maybe you could subscribe to Scribd or Kindle if you are into ebooks? You just pay a monthly fee and get access to their whole library. That's what I did during quarantine when libraries were closed here 😅
Definitely true :(:( I was glad when libraries opened back up so I could smell the paper and return to getting paper cuts!! Haha. Next time I go to India, I'll hand deliver you a box of books! :p:p In the meantime, I hope you get your hands on a few of your favorites! 🥰
I’m excited to read Slay and Parachutes! Some of my recent favs have been, On the Come Up, A Tale of Magic, The Fountains of Silence, All Our Broken Pieces and The Mosaic.

Slay sounds so good. Clap when you land is already on my list, I have With the fire on high but didn't read yet, probably my next book after I finish A song of wraiths and ruin
Get a Life Chloe Brown was just as fantastic as Take a Hint! Chloe and Red are very different from Zaf and Dani, but it’s equally cute/funny banter and has the same emotional depth as a Take a Hint. I hope you love it!
I definitely want to read Slay and the Brown books, maybe they need to move up in my TBR! Parachutes also sounds very intense. Also, what were you painting?
Thank you for all these amazing recommendations, just about to start Parachutes now! I've just finished Loveless by Alice Oseman and it was phenomenal!
*7 hours later* I've just finished Parachutes (yes I spent all day reading it) and OH MY GOODNESS IT WAS INCREDIBLE you are the Queen of Recommendations and I am forever grateful!!
