Being the ultimate Acronym white knight and defending the recently-launched Nike x Acronym clothing collection, which has had some mixed reception overall. I picked up the woven track jacket and pants in the 'multi' colourway so we can investigate what makes them interesting, and some functionality you might've missed.
Also find out if they're able to increase my martial arts skills (solid no)

I wish someone would defend me the way Antwon defends acronym. I thought this collab still represents both parties, but in a different way than previously, which seemed hard to do after ACG, so I'm impressed!
Yeah I think most people including myself wanted something like ACG which leaned more towards techwear while this collection leans more towards football sports wear. We just want acrnm for cheap
@@Benez_02 I do think there's DNA there still. But I get that it's not the same. For an outsider like me, it has a compatible look, like if you used a jacket from this collection and only wore acronym for the rest of the fit, it'd look amazing.
Video suggestion : Technical clothing care! Everything from washing to DWR refreshing to how to handle different fabrics like Stotz Etaproof etc. Very important when you're dropping $1000 on a loosely knitted cardigan!
This. I bought the blazer lows a few months back, and whilst they’re great, the black canvas is now tearing along the designs. I don’t know if that intended or not, but if it isn’t I’d have liked to know how to prevent it
honestly I really like the jacket but 300 euros for what essentially is a pimped up nike nylon track jacket (with mostly the same materials of the nike mainline jackets) is a little steep

Thanks for explaining the quick release zip. Interesting thoughts - really enjoyed the overview on the techwear scene, where a lot of “cheaper” brands tend to copy features. This instead of developing new features and solving a problem in a new and innovative way. Great video🙌
This one will be a banger at the 22’s nights in 10-15 years. It’s like LA Gear on a speedball. Toss on the hammer pants and you’ve got yourself the outfit of a first or second level boss in an arcade beat em up

Great review as usual. Love my F&F jacket and the multi but I may just have to get the 3rd cw. And I do agree would love input on the Nike therma-fit full suit before I grab

100% agree on the point of the colab to be something new. As a fan of those 80s/90s martial arts films and the football uniform style used in them, this was a great collection for me. I am a bit envious of that jacket sling tbh, but I love the black knit track top mixed with the white martial arts pants, and I am gonna prove you wrong about how much wear I get out of those pants. It's a collection that speaks for itself, it's neither ACR nor Nike, but something unique.
I have a feeling this is going to be a divisive video, but I'm glad you made it. I've got the same jacket and maroon blazers, and I just love the futuristic look of it all combined.
I've got the black pants and jacket and I have to say I LOVE the pants, they're super comfy with the inner nylon lining, it's really noticeable how soft and nice they feel inside and they serve as just a nice, fairly subtle black track pant with a cool silhouette. Nothing earth shattering but very happy with them. Haven't worn the jacket much but love the look, I got the more subdued black one as well.
I am glad you did a video on these! I actually thought the Stadium Jersey was the most unique piece so I snagged it before I’m sure it goes for almost double on the resale market. I’m not a soccer/football fan, so I’m pretending it’s a modern cut rugby shirt, but regardless, it’s perfect. Just came in the mail, tried it on, love it. Is it the most creative/practical piece in the collaboration? Thanks for all your content!
Got the black woven jacket and I really like it. Great combination with a hoodie. The escape zip took some bravery and is more of a gimmick with this light jacket, the sling is fantastic, zippers lock. Very happy.

That reminds me of my grand-dad old 90s tracksuit he used to wear while jogging, but without the pastel colors.
I had actually just picked up the jacket and pants in this colorway, I think you're on the money it will end up being underrated - I also ended up getting the black sweatpants with the ghille stripe, those run a bit small but are still easier to wear than the pants
I took your advice on IG - I’m a husky dude, 5’ 10” 200lbs and I went with a large, same as my J1A. Perfect fit
I snagged the jacket in black, sized down to L and I like the snug fit (though I only JUST have enough sleeve) and the black pants also sized down in black L, once again there's only enough leg length, I would have preferred another couple cm of stack. Like them both, but the pants are a little 'plain', not a lot of Tech or Acronym stylings here. The jacket is a lot more inspiring, I find the slim-fitting matched with some big dropcrotch-type trous make a good look with some high-tops.
lol mentioning the 'dazzle camo' at 3:22 - I picked up the SUPERDRY 'Ultimate Rescue Jacket' in all-over Dazzle last week - its currently half-off in their sale and I couldn't resist something so overbearing :)
Glad the quality is good. I think it looks terrible aesthetically so I bought none of it, but style is subjective and a personal choice. Overall I love acronym and Nike collabs and hope it keeps happening. This drop wasn’t for me. Next one might be.

Fantastic review! Tbh out of all the acronym clothing pieces, I think this track jacket is the one I've seen people buying the most. The thing I've seen the least of online is definitely the beige tracksuit set. I dont think ive seen anyone styling that one yet so would be nice to get a better look at it since it feels so rare 🤔

I got the beige track jacket! It's on sale at Haven for $100 which seems like a fair price. I love how it looks, I'm surprised it's not more popular. It has more features than I expected; water beads on it, and the triangle pattern insulation is super warm and comfy. Also in addition to the hand pockets there are 2 huge inside pouches so there's a ton of storage.
The only possible negative is that the sleeves are pretty long. Also, the fabric that goes up the back of the neck is reinforced, so you can't fold the collar down to give that shirt-jacket look. Anyway I love it and I can't believe it's sitting at Haven for such a bargain

I’m glad you made this video. If Acronym is the Kakashi/Tech Ninja Core, NikeLab ACG the happy medium, then this Acronym x Nike Collab is the Rock Lee/Might Guy edition so you have to look at it from that perspective and I love it
Hey Antwon, just some unrelated and possibly unwanted feedback: I'd love to see more 'techwear news'-style videos e.g. stuff to look out for in SS22, top 5 things that dropped this month, monthyly upcoming releases and quick reviews of the latest collections etc.
I feel like I miss things and while I enjoy the deep dives on certain topics, it would be good to see what's going on in the scene as a whole and kept informed. Just a request.

You can still get the Lego A-Wing, in mint condition, for about 250-300 quid. It's only gonna get more expensive over time though.
I was torn between getting a pair of blazers and the track pants or the track suit top. In the end I chose shoes and pants, and I am pretty happy with them. I took not of some sizing advice Errolson Hugh out on his Instagram and actually sizes up to get a P30-esque silhouette. I was a bit concerned I would ha e to constantly adjust them all the time to stop them from slipping down but they tie-cord works pretty well. I do keep looking at the jacket though... It's available a few places and may pick one up in a month or so if they are still available. I think you re right the woven jacket is the standout piece. I suppose o chose getting two pieces over getting the single best piece.

Good choice I think, the shoes are great so not one to miss out on! I'm hoping some of these things hit sales at which point they'd make great pickups. Glad the pant sizing worked out for you - I'd have them falling down all day if I went for L/XL hah
got the blazer and pants too. I worried about the sizing of the pants too. I feel my choice to go with Small was the right choice.

Hey, spring is coming soon. Think you can do a video on clothes like convertible cargo pants? I'm actually curious to know what options there are since I got a messed up knee and I gotta wear a brace. Having one half pants and the other shorts could be an interesting look.
There aren't too many convertible ones out there but the recent ACG Smith Summit ones look decent

This track jacket was the only thing I liked, crazy patterns reminded me of vintage Nike windbreakers and can see this being integrated with stuff like denim and Jordans but for me 300 is wayyy too much when you can find crazy patterned vintage Nike jackets for cheaper
The jacket is the best item for sure - would love to see more people style it with reference to those retro inspirations. It feels like at the moment everyone (including me!) has taken the 'techwear uniform' approach
the apparel and shoes are both sitting hard here in Japan, the majority of stock is still directly available from Nike.

I think the pattern are freaking out many who would normally have copped. I personally am copping while the prices are still at retail.
That Terry cloth section on the arm might sound like a good idea in theory, but who wants to keep washing their expensive jacket everytime they wear it? Not to mention that Terry cloth is on the arm, the most active part of your body, it's going to get snagged on a bunch of stuff that'll slowly unravel it. I don't see this jacket lasting long at all.
As for the loop, they don't look that sturdy, so they're not for hanging anything heavy, but sunglasses? You can just slip it on the collar of your t-shirt, though I personally would rather carry a case.

As much as I actually think they looks sick (and I got both colorways of the shoe), I think the biggest issue is that for the price I could get something made from a cooler material or with more techy features (Like something from Rosen-X). I'm happy to see somebody defending the collab though, it gets way too much hate.
Seems like this collection is for people who have 3-5 acronym pieces or at least a couple of classic acgs. For me, a person dreaming of my first piece this looks not relevant at all.
I wish they create some essentials collection with some basic t’s, cargos and jackets for a middle range price and reduced but still cool functionality.
I think that's true to an extent, but they could also be appropriate for people who aren't typically interested in the 'Acronym aesthetic' because they are so different.
They are heading slightly in that direction - over the last couple of seasons they've released some pieces in higher quantities and (slightly) lower prices at a variety of retailers. Things like the P31A-DS and J68 came in cheaper than typical Acronym jackets/pants but were still unmistakably Acronym

Imaging smth like Acronym + FOG Essentials. Not so loungy and casual as FOG, more "casual ninja-tech" but still of a high quality and cool cuts.... dreams :)

I just don't seems to feel e vibe for this color way.
Simply too many blocks of colour on the jacket, and the design is nothing to write home about for me, except for maybe the zippers. I feel like if they went with a more uniform approach instead of this modern art esque pattern with zebra stripes, while putting more emphasis on the cut, materials and features of the jacket itself it would be more noteworthy. For this collaboration, I can definitely feel a significant amount of Nike's influence, and it feels sort of stuck in between techwear and mainstream sportswear, like it's trying to appeal to acronym fans and the masses at the same time. When you try to cater to everyone, it doesn't work out.
