- i really hope this is a useful tool for people receiving the Gambler's Chest! i tried to give as much detail as possible without the video running too long 🖤 if you see anyone struggling with the installation of the Gambler's Chest, please send them this way, and with your help i can answer any questions they have in the comments.

If you take out the rule books the entire GC tray with everything actually just fits in the 1.6 box... But it makes it so dam heavy!

This was fantastic and will be really useful along with the follow up videos. I have the main models assembled now and about to start painting, not sure I am ready to mix the 2 core boxes together yet so might run another couple of campaigns before diving fully into the Gamblers Chest.

I unboxed a while ago but this was still a fun watch! There's so much content in Gamblers chest i struggled to close the box after unpacking it (and admittedly sleeving most of it). I'm glad i use binders for the gear!

Love your videos and Channel! What sleeves does your group use? Recommend any for this monster?
way back a decade or something ago i bought enough sleeves from a company called MAGE to sleeve everything except the GCE-specific shaped cards like Philosophies and the Bone Eaters encounter cards. but i think they’ve gone out of business now so i’ve bought the official Kingdom Death ones for my second Gambler’s Chest copy! i think they’ll be the best option, though it would be even better if they made opaque-backed ones!

thank you! 🖤 so far i've really, really enjoyed it! it's shocking how much content it adds, probably at least 5 years' worth of play at the rate i'll go through it. i've only been able to arrange one session with my group, but we got through several lantern years. we loved both the Croc and the Smog Singers, and the Philosophies system feels extremely juicy and and interesting!
@@anawfulfeelingThat's great to hear!! I have the opportunity to pick it up right now, but it's still a lot of money end of the day and takes up a lot of shelf space. So I'm trying to persuade myself to pull the trigger 😊. But from the sounds of it, it's worth it.
My one fear is that it adds a crazy amount of book keeping and additional complexity, especially since I only play 2P and solo.
How did you find the added complexity so far, especially with arc survivors?
it definitely does add a significant amount of bookkeeping and complexity - i already think core Kingdom Death was way too much for one person to do solo! i've mostly played in a group of either 2 or 4, but i haven't yet played the Gambler's Chest with only 2! personally i think it would be manageable but a definite step up in admin and stuff to keep track of, so much as i'd like to say "go for it!!!" i think it might warrant a bit of thought! 🖤 i really hope that helps!
What is the advantage to putting the dividers behind the stack they belong to rather than in front? Or is it just personal preference? (Also, thank you for the organization tips.)

good question! this is for the Dream Keeper campaign. for PotL you can install different parts using the instructions for each in the rulebook. i can make another video for People of the Lantern if people would like one!

Before diving into GC, I want to do one more PoTL campaign but with 1.6 included.

such good questions! i’ve been thinking about whether to make a legendary card pack video, but i’ve already installed mine so i’ll need to get another one to make it i think! i remember the installation guide it comes with being quite clear so i’m sure you won’t hit any snags 🖤 i think the biggest change that affected us was the one to the Vespertine Bow, but now i really want to make a video to study the rest of the changes in more detail!

I'm wondering... at 24:57 you place the hand AI card together with the core box hand AI. Doesn't it replace an older hand AI card?
i think you just add it rather than replacing another card! according to page 64 of the GCE rulebook, “Use the existing Hand card divider to store Suspicious” 🖤 it doesn’t say to remove anything.

Why would you get 2 Gamblers Chest boxes?
Man. This is becoming my grail game. I'm like this looks so cool. I just don't know if I can justify dropping $800 and time for model building. Maybe I can ask for Christmas/birthday or something. But it might be a bit of a stretch to ask for. Is it good playing solo or should I really only do it if I have a dedicated game group that's into hardcore mature campaign games?
eeek its a tough call, i’ll do my best to advise you 🖤 Kingdom Death is obviously my favourite game of all time, but i’ve never seriously played it solo and i probably never would-it’s a social game to me and the stories that happen to your group and bonds each player has with their survivors are part of the magic. plus it’s just absolutely monstrous to organise and keep track of a whole settlement. however, i have three things i want to mention:
- you can definitely easily play with 2 players (like in my Affliction playthrough on this channel), you don’t need 4!
- lots of people do play solo, even if i personally wouldn’t - they use the Scribe app to do the record keeping. i wouldn’t recommend it but it might be worth asking someone who does, maybe on the Lantern’s Reign KD:M discord!
- Kingdom Death: Simulator is amazing value for money, a perfect reproduction of the board game, and will give you a good idea of what it would be like to play solo or with a group if you can find someone else to play with. i’d strongly recommend trying that first before dropping the full 800 dollars!

So im fully invested into KD but havnt made it very far (using core game only). I dont seem to have the time and i kind of suck at it. Anyway, would you recommend adding GC or play more core +/- expansions? Im ok playing more core. There is much for me to do.
it’s a really hard game sometimes! especially if you’re just playing with the core set-expansions can make it quite a bit easier, so don’t be discouraged! 🖤 i would probably not recommend adding in the GCE right away, because there’s so much to experience with the other expansions (also the GCE adds a lot of complexity). it is fun though so follow your heart! if you’d like to make things a bit easier for the core game, you could add in the flower knight and Gorm or try the people of the sun campaign from Sunstalker!

How can we use Gambler Chest new rules to play People of the lantern? How do we integrade wanderer into People of the lantern? Can we intergrade Hooded Knight into Gambler Chest game?
i can make a video about that! i haven’t tried to do it myself yet but i know it’s possible so i’ll learn how and make a tutorial 🖤 it might take a while though, so boardgamegeek or the Lantern’s Reign discord might be good places to check until then!
I understand this is to play the people of dream campaign. There should be no cards from any other expansions. Now, what about playing people of the lantern? I didnt find anything on mixing the GC cards (innovation, FA, etc) with other expansions
it’s definitely possible but not made entirely clear in the rulebook (it’s the ‘Pillars’ rules off the top of my head that explain it) - i plan to make a video about it early this year to make it easier for people to run People of the Lantern with the GC features! 🖤
