I take Beaulieu Garage's Series 1 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 out for a spin, and discover that it is a lot faster than I thought it was going to be. Not the instant torque that you'd come to expect from modern cars, but a lovely surprising burst of power from its 4.2L straight six.

The most beautiful car in the world. These were developed off the back of 1950s c and dtype winners at lemans, so the etype is a proper thoroughbred with real racing roots. The wing mirror you have there is non standard. They actually came with none! Also remember the fixed heads (coupes) came in 2 seater configuration which is arguably the purest of Sayers design. They were basically designed by ex aircraft designers out of ww2. The powerplant famously being drawn up in air raid shelters of ww2... It's a mini Merlin 👍 the 3.8s had non synchro on first gear, but are more delicate as a result. Proper drivers cars and one of the best things to come out of this country alongside the Spitfire and Mallard! I love mine 😘

Hi Adam . I can see some people just don't like "e" types, what ever floats your boat. I have the identical car albeit with a four speed box with overdrive! (overdrive not fitted as standard) . No one has pointed out that the car does not have Weber carburretors from the factory. They were fitted with triple S.U. 's. The car is far more responsive with those webers and the 5 speed box. I can tell you were pleasantly surprised. Thankyou.
