That's actually a Series 1.5, which you can tell from the larger uncovered headlights placed further forward, replacing the glass-covered ones from earlier models. But retaining the above bumper rear lights. It also features twin fans and ribbed cam covers. While many Series 1.5 models adopted rocker switches instead of the toggle switches found in Series 1 cars, this particular one retains the original switches. I believe they used leftover Series 1 parts during the transition to Series 2. It's a beautiful car!

Love the bits where you rev it out and get your dad's reaction. I drove one a while back on a driving day thing and was blown away by it - I was scared of meeting and driving a hero, but what a machine! The race breeding really shows through in the drivetrain, loved the ride/handling set up, the ambience in the cabin, could have driven it all day and had a smile on my face the entire time. So modern and archaic at the same time, designed with British roads in mind.

fit modern shock absorbers that are adjustable and it handles like a dream , the gears IF the gearbox has the right oil in it the gears are very easy to get, even the steering if well oiled is nice and light. a well sorted E-type is a very nice thing to drive,
it's just a lot of owners have no idea,

People need to remember that back in the 1960's when the E Type was designed and graced our roads, the vast majority of people were thin. Fast forward sixty years and the vast majority are overweight or generally bigger.
It is, the most beautiful car ever designed and built in not just my opinion.

Man, I haven't been to your channel in about a year but I'm liking what I see. Congrats on the marriage. Cool to hear your thoughts on an ugly and over appreciated car like the E-type. I grew up when these were just a pretty old car and the hardtops could be had for nothing.

Had a 1968 Series 1.5 coupe, not as powerful with two carbs and that crossover manifold. Still great, if flawed, car. They rust though, and get very hot in summer. Ours was gunmetal over red, a beautiful thing. I'd really like to find a 1965ish Alfa GTV to restore, smaller, more practical than the Jaguar, yet very beautiful. Sadly, those rust badly too, not so many left.

Much prefer pulling thru rev range in a more leisurely rate and savouring the different engine characteristics with a 4 speed + overdrive type car than ludicrous modern propensity of continually adding more gears and weight + minimum 'change times'
Cars such as this and the MGB, Stag etc are a delight to listen to - modern cars with 6-8 gears...really??!!
Same with fitting lower and wider tyres - got so daft now, they even fit them to off roaders!!
Then there is the ever increasing ride stiffness and lowering in ground clearance....
Dont start me on 'mine is faster than yours' mentality with the 'power struggle' - a 1000bhp / lb ft in road cars surrounded by millions of non motorsport vehicles with less than optimised drivers......
Car designs that ground to a halt as everyone trys to out brag each other with a lower CD - just look at how depressingly similar and unappealing car design has become
'Back in the day' we had Ford Anglias and Muiras ...at the same time....
    Yesterdayyyy....seems so very .....
