If I had to imagine what music would go with the story of harry potter as I opened the book The Sorcerers Stone 16 years ago, this was it. When I first heard this tune, it was perfection.
No it's just the first and 2nd violin section showing their hate to John Williams for writting their part like that. ^^ (The violin parts are impossible for some part of that score).
@@RmDIrSudoSu Tell me about it. I play 2nd Violin, and when I play it sounds that Harry Potter had been eating too many Gobstoppers and Chocolate frogs
+kawaiimina Well funnily enough not every orchestra has a Celesta to hand which makes things quite difficult when playing hedwigs theme. So the only other option is a keyboard
+kawaiimina Actually, the Hedwig part is supposed to be played on a celeste, which is a struck idiophone operated by a keyboard. It looks similar to an upright piano
Plenty. I'd like to ammend my original comment entry. I'm now including the following: mmmm- Arc's blue eyes. mmmm- Arc's blondie hair. That is all. :)
I love Harry Potter and I'm in the best high school orchestra in the United States, and we are playing this piece. Unfortunately there seems to be a lack of anything in this version. I'm sure it might have sounded better in person however the recording is ghastly. You can't hear the strings at all. For someone who plays in a full orchestra, I know what it should sound like. Instead, the brass section drowns out the entire orchestra. This orchestra needs more instruments, especially strings as well as they need to speed up the tempo a bit, stay in tune and together and just allow whoever has the melody to have it. I shouldn't have to fight to hear the melody over the brass. However very good solo. This was a good performance it just needs a bit more to be spectacular
I belonged to the best orchestra in the nation in 2004. This piece is extraordinarily exhausting as you know, and being the concertmistress, it was very hard to carry a piece with the limited amount of strings we had. We were just a regular orchestra that belonged to a minority school that was also a Classical school that had no sports just orchestra, band, dance, art, and chorus. We were limited on what we had as far as a full orchestra. We had to pull these members out of the band class because there was no such thing as a full orchestra at our school. We were a force to be reckoned with, though. We had 2 clarinets, 1 oboe, 2 trumpets, 1 french horn, 2 flutes with one that doubled as a piccolo, 1 trombone, 1 percussionist who served as the main but had a backup for other extraneous instruments...it's been over 14 years so my number memory is gone. We were requested to play at the Governor's mansion twice (NC), State wide superintendent conference, we broke down the strings for numerous weddings we refused payment for (I began playing solo and charged $100 for rehearsal and wedding day), wherever anyone wanted a string orchestra, they called our teacher. I learned how to play in the public school system at 10 years old, and had the same teacher all the way through until I graduated from high school. No private lessons at all. Just drive, passion and practice. I performed Felix Mendelssohn's concerto in e minor 1st movement for our graduating class' awards ceremony with piano accompaniment of a retired Julliard piano professor, went on to join our city's Symphony Orchestra that just hired a new conductor who was Internationally acclaimed. He kicked it into high gear and I took weekly lessons with the concertmaster. I also took Maestro's class where he was an adjunct professor. I also taught private lessons at $40/hr. Sadly, after my last Bach concerto in 2010, I had to put my violin away. I had contracted undiagnosed Lyme disease, Babesia, Bartonella, Mycoplasma, EBV, a host of different dangerous herpes viruses. Before I knew what was wrong, the Lyme spread to my brain. I had horrible hand tremors, lost finger coordination, can no longer feel my pinky and ring fingers on both hands, short term memory loss, cognitive function disorder (which inhibited my ability to read sheet music), seizures, and much more. Losing the one thing I loved the most in my life was heartbreaking. So I want everyone to realize how lucky you are to play an instrument and never take it for granted.

sulezraz I'm afraid you are right. There seems to be a lot wrong with it. It is extremely rare for me to write a negative comment, but I just have to ask how on earth any orchestra can make this fantastic music sound such a dirge as this one has? Some of the orchestra members look like they don't want to be there. Some look positively angry, and some look like they absolutely hate the music. Then, the poor conductor just carries on, possibly with the mistaken thought that he is conducting a masterpiece, which in a way he is, except that the whole ensemble conspire to produce the most lacklustre performance of this music I have ever heard. The only positive is the second or two of the applause at the end, which indicates that at least some of the audience actually liked the performance. I only wish I could say the same.
Non capirò mai perchè certe orchestre si impegnano solo nella musica classica. Sembra suonanata giusto perchè andava suonata...che dispiacere vedere come la musica da film venga trattata in questo modo, sopratutto le opere di John Williams...

the soundrack of the chamber of secrets always gives me chills
I could be in a horrible mood. Yet the instant I hear this music, I'm happy and I feel like I'm watching Harry Potter.
Nicholas Williams Same!! 😍😍

OMG So many memories come to me when I hear this song. A melody that I will never forget.
fantastico concerto
I am touched by the music every time I watch the movie!!!
John William is amazing!
This music video is... MAGIC !
No, the movie "Amadeus" was magical, not this. This is a two-bit film score by JW, who sold out to Hollywood YEARS ago...
goosebumps.... amazing, really would want to see this soundtrack live one day!!!

Playing this at school, I love it so much one of the best soundtracks ever!!

I thought I was alone
fantastic
The keyboard is not part of the orchestra........
That's what I was thinking
+kawaiimina Well funnily enough not every orchestra has a Celesta to hand which makes things quite difficult when playing hedwigs theme. So the only other option is a keyboard

+John Doe i think hedwig's theme sounds best played on glockenspiel and vibes
Keyboards are a part of the orchestra whether it be a piano or a harpsichord. Should have been an actual Celeste
The music, and the interpretation... Both PERFECT!
Eu adoro ouvir essa música
Amo esse som!
Bellissima interpretazione, magari ad averne di orchestre così.....

I'm a wHaT?
Perfeito, me emocionei, trabalho perfeito, sou super fã de Harry Potter, sem palavras *-*
WHY IS'T NOT ANY GLOCKENSPIEL?!
Because glockenspiel mustn't play it! The theme played by the keyboard it's written originally for celesta! ;)
A.F. Galopp But glockenspiel much more epic. John Williams dident write it to some lame keyboard, he wrote it to the epic glockenspiel!
***** Yes, you're correct. It's for the celesta.
ZimowHD he wrote it for the celesta, which looks like a piano, but sounds like a Glockenspiel
I'm a grown man but I'll admit I had tears in my eyes listening to this.
I think this performance shows just how good John Williams truly is! (With the Great, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, of course!)
See above comment about "no musical discernment"...
I love Harry Potter and this music!*-*Thank you very much, Joanne. Harry is my life! (with Rudy Zerbi =))
