Me as 14yo when this movie aired : "Yes finally a movie with my name in it" Literally everyone since 2009 after watching it : traumatized, scared, horrified and never want to hear the word "Coraline" ever again
This movie is from an animation studio that's specialised in stop-motion animation called Laïka. There is other movies that are good : Kubo and the Two Strings (my favorite one), Paranorman and Boxtrolls.
Fun fact: The director actually wanted this whole movie done in live action. The problem was that they didn't want to make the cat seem to uncanny when it comes to CG or giving it a lip sync effect. So they opted to go with the stop motion route.
To me its the closer thing to a horror movie I’ve seen obviously I love Scream and Halloween but they aren’t scary I didn’t even find the Conjurings scary but good movies I will say Coraline is a different story I hated it as a child and still do at the age of 21 LOL so it took a lot of effort for me to click on this I finally thought you know what Sean is reacting to it I’ll feel better watching it with him 😅

I listen to the commentary last month and I never thought of it but Dakota fanning filmed this over 3 years. So she had to match her 10-year-old voice to her 7-year-old voice. That's a lot to ask of anybody let alone a young kid plus ask them to play this complicated character
I've seen this movie in fifth grade with my classmates, and I've got one thing to say: I fear no man... But that thing... **This movie** ... It scares me...
Written by Neil Gaiman and directed by Henry Selick. Dakota Fanning voices Coraline, Terri Hatcher voices Mother/Other Mother, Ian Mcshane voices Mr. Bobinsky, and the Cat is voiced by Keith David
I love this movie. I'm the only guy I know who does, but I love it. :) As for the cat bringing Wybie "dead things", I think actual cat owners can correct me, but a lot of cats have the habit of bringing dead or dying things to their owners with the idea that they expect the owner to "finish them off". I think it's what a cat would normally do with their kittens to teach them to hunt. Toadstool rings normally grow in nature, but the old myth is that you were supposed to avoid them because they represented pathways into the world of fae.
This is literally my favorite movie I’m so happy one of my favorite reaction channels is reacting my childhood was built on this movie I know every line and songs sleep to this movie
I don’t think I would’ve hated it as a child but I watched Coraline as a teenager so I immediately loved it, it was scary and amazing and just all around a wonderful scary kids movie! Lol
I’ve watched this move I swear more than 100 times. I am obsessed with it. I can literally watch it everyday nonstop. I know literally everything they say in this movie, but in Spanish, that’s the language I watched it as a small child.
3:51 those mushrooms forming a circle are a fae ring, there's some legends about them, they're the place where faes reunite and you shouldn't disturb it,some say that if you step inside you'll be trapped there and will be forced to dance with the faes till you die, others say you'll get cursed with bad luck or severe misfortune, basically is not a good idea to get too close to one,the creators probably put it there as a way of giving a nod about the danger the well was hiding and that Coraline could get stuck in there if she wasn't careful
You have to watch this a second time, there are so many interesting plots and signs of what´s going to happen that you cannot see the first time. For example how the lightning in the beginning is the shape of the other mothers creepy hand. This movie is so well planned out it´s a real masterpiece and I´m so happy you reacted to it:) sending love to our precious Sean
I was like 7 when this came out and me and my family went to the cinemas to see it, IN 3D, I had nightmares for months, i re-watched it recently and its still creepy as hell, but fair play they did really good making this movie, reminds me a bit of Nightmare Before Christmas.

edited to add time stamp 😂
Excellent movie with Dakota Fanning, Terri Hatcher, Keith David, Ian Mcshane
I listen to the commentary last month and I never thought of it but Dakota fanning filmed this over 3 years. So she had to match her 10-year-old voice to her 7-year-old voice. That's a lot to ask of anybody let alone a young kid plus ask them to play this complicated character
I was really scared at the scene when her parents wanted to sew her eyes out into buttons. This movie really scared me as a child.
I've seen this movie in fifth grade with my classmates, and I've got one thing to say:
I fear no man...
If he doesn't love it I'll cry
I love this movie. I'm the only guy I know who does, but I love it. :)
As for the cat bringing Wybie "dead things", I think actual cat owners can correct me, but a lot of cats have the habit of bringing dead or dying things to their owners with the idea that they expect the owner to "finish them off".

Lol
Coraline had such a huge impact on my childhood 😔🤚
Love the book, Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite writers and the film rocked
one of my favorite movies to this day
I’ve watched this move I swear more than 100 times. I am obsessed with it. I can literally watch it everyday nonstop. I know literally everything they say in this movie, but in Spanish, that’s the language I watched it as a small child.
I loved watching Coraline.
When you first watch your either terrified or love it. No in between
Yeah I was traumatized. But the second time I watched it it wasn't as scary.
You are my new favourite UA-camr! You’re literally so funny 😂
Coralline was childhood CULTURE
Finally! Been waiting for this for so long!
“The animal is always bad or good, there’s no in between”
Coraline’s Cat: *exists*
i grew up watching this everyday i know all the words. my favourite
This movie built me and now I see why I “give off a weird vibe”. My sisters words not mine.
I lovedddd this movie as a child.I watched it manyyy times. Didn't scare me much. And I am still baffled when someone hasn't watched it.
I love this movie its one of my favourites!
Also its not an animation it's stop motion which makes it even better!
I was like 7 when this came out and me and my family went to the cinemas to see it, IN 3D, I had nightmares for months, i re-watched it recently and its still creepy as hell, but fair play they did really good making this movie, reminds me a bit of Nightmare Before Christmas.
