Your crest factor video changed my life. My mixes now naturally hit about -10 lufs in the rough mix before I start doing any serious limiting/ bus clipping/ mastering.
This is very true, so many engineers don’t even realize this fact.
I found that digital clipping (bad gain staging) and bad 2 bus processing adds the wrong distortion, limiting how far the master can be pushed without sounding awful.

No problem I clip the shit out of it 😂.
The question is, how you achieve good loudness during production? You are careful what kind of instruments you are adding and how, in order to creare a balanced mix and not add things on top of each other in the same place. But this depends on the composition and the arrangement also!

Nah, the 2 reasons he says controlls how loud you can go. If the mix has a great balance and low crestfactor, then you can go how loud you want and then some ❤
@SlayerDarkRaver nope, that's not all to make a track loud. I have tracks that just as loud or even louder than commercial tracks coming straight out of my MPC and Fantom X. That has nothing to do with overall loudness. That's more so clarity in mixing. You can have a distorted bass sound and still be as loud as commercial mixes. I'm not going to say how to do it because it's a secret.
