I can't remember if I left a comment already because I haven't been very active on UA-cam or touched nails in almost a year due to health reasons; I am so glad this video showed up in my feed again. I just love your videos because they are so informative! You are so artistic and your nail creations are beautiful! Thanks for sharing and Blessings!
I watched 1000 videos and not one video ever explain this I was having a very hard time. I’m so happy I came across see you. I truly appreciate you sending you love thank you. ❤
I would never had known you weren't a "professional"had u not said. Everything you turn out is professional quality, and very informative as if you have been a nail tech instructor. So I agree with Serenitie3...you definitely deserve to be able to call yourself a professional. Thank you for all your videos, they have helped me so much :)
i found that using naio brush cleaner to dip into between each ball helps instead of dipping into the acrylic liquid, it works really well plus brush cleaner is cheap to use as you can go through quite abit of acrylic liquid dipping into it all the time to keep brush clean.
What a fantastic video Nicki. Oh how I wish I had seen this video while I was still doing acrylic nails. I always had bad clogging problems. I don't do acrylics now because I've become allergic. I'm showing my granddaughter how to do them so I will most definitely tell her to watch this several times. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
Thank you so much for sharing this trick. I have always struggled with doing my nails but have been able to do my own very nicely since I have started watching your videos. You just addressed the last problem I was having. You are incredibly talented. :)
Cherry Lacrosse clean it with acetone (let it sit for about 5 minutes) carefully clean out and acrylic and treat the bristles with oil then wash it out with warm water. It should be as good as new. I suggest just having a roll of paper towels near to so you can replace it easily. 😊
Thankyou thank you thank you Thank You! I Just watched a video before this one and was not sure if this was right and did not know whether or not to believe that video or not. But thanks to you actually doing the steps and the actual cleanup you showed at the end helped me to fully grasp and understand how the monomer really does keep the brush clean...yes, I can fully see and understand the monomer is so important and is almost the only thing I need for artificial nail work & care. So thank you. Now I will go back and give the first video acknowledgement. So again thank you!
oh thank god, I thought I was messing up with my Naio Mega White! It's always bleeding into my brush when the other powders don't, glad to see that I'm not going wrong lol x
Finally someone who understands my question! I wasn't sure how to word this or how to explain what I was looking for as far as advice and this is exactly what I was looking for I couldn't figure out when to wipe my brush when not to when I should dip when not to I was just so confused! I'm definitely a beginner and I fully intend on getting good someday LOL but I could not figure this out for the life of me
Hey, i am a beginner too. Just started a month ago. Did you figure out eventually how to do it? I wasted so many brushes I ordered from amazon, (like 15 brushes till now) it’s like whenever i do a set, the brush is halfway ruined. And then i do another set, and the brush is gone, the bristles are all fanned out like spread out, and the acrylic is stuck on it, and it’s so hard to end up working with it, that I’ve to throw it. I don’t know what to do.
...a few more tips...First thing first, buy a legit Kolinsky brush. Cheap brushes will only frustrate you and will prevent you from learning correct application. It also varies based on the monomer you're using. Odorless systems, you're never supposed to re-dip your brush bcz it makes it worse and the product gets stuck in your brush. Oderless requires a patting method vs the pull and drag. You'll get taffy like peaks w Oderless systems and that's a sign to wipe more monomer off of your brush. Even though it feels like u need more monomer, fight the urge to dip over and over w Oderless systems. The normal/speed dry systems are OK to re-dip in order to work the bead. So if a person is having problems keeping product out of their brush, understanding the different techniques required for different monomers will greatly help. Another thing to know is that re-dipping in odorless monomers will also interfere w your product from drying quickly and will give you a horrible gummy layer on top which can lead to breakdown of service. If you're still learning, sometimes adding a little bit of acetone to your monomer will help you fight the product from sticking in your brush. Just remember that acetone will eventually destroy your brush, but then again so will dried acrylic. HTH!
Loretta Griego Loretta Griego the same issue happens with Kolinsky brushes if you don’t have a technique for keeping the bristles clog free including slower acting monomer. I found cheaper brushes better (I’m a pro nail tech). Cost is not always a reflection of quality. I’ve got a £2 brush that’s better than a £7 kolinsky one. The gummy layer info’ I have to agree with. I use acetone between applications. It’s also such a waste of pricey monomer using this method (even the cheapest monomers are expensive) but, if it works for you - good for you..each to their own. To the OP: I agree with another lady who said you come across as a pro!
Thank you so much - I am currently practising and every single time the product has ended up all inside my brush and makes the monomer immediately powdery so I will definitely try this technique!! X
I want you to know I love your channel. You have inspired me to do my own nails. I will no longer have someone else doing them. So if they look like crap I am to blame. LOL. Keep up the good work. Big fan from the U.S.
i was JUST searching for a video like this on your channel the other day!! and just got my naio products home TODAY!! --perfect timing-- !!! :-)))))))))))
thank you so much nicki I have just started to use color's and have all most lost my brush because I did not know what I was doing :( just in time to save me :D love you hun have a grate day
I found this so helpful and since trying this no more clogged brushes ( yeah) but I still need to work on this cause I find I contaminate my liquid especially with black, white. red or a glitter powder . I'm convinced it's clean after wiping before dipping back into liquid but no , as you've said it takes practice ( and a better light hehe ) . Thanks for sharing your tips you rock big time .
One thing I was doing before I figured it out was the size of your dappen dish .. those little small shot glass type with a lid isn’t big enough you need a ceramic with a lid and keep that lid on as much as you can..anyway if your using a tiny dish like shot glass type & notice your having issues with your acrylic balls not being just right & you can’t keep acrylic out of your brush get a ceramic with lid like Nikki is using in the video you still use small amount of liquid it does help a lot I was able to correct a lot of mistakes when I was learning..
Thank you so much for making this video! I did my nails tonight and, thanks to my gummy brush, it was a disaster. Lol I will definitely follow your method going forward.♥️
Great info. weird I see this after I was swatching some glitter acrylics and noticed a little red acrylic residue on my brush that I'm soaking out right now.
Glad to see I was doing it right. I do it the exact way. Love that brush where did u get it and how much In American money would it be??? I've actually had this really cheap brush I got from eBay I think I paid $3.95 for it and it's still like new. One of my favorite brushes.
Thanks for this! I'm no where near as talented as you, but watching your videos always helps me! Now that I got this down, I'll try my glow in the dark powder! 😀😀😀😀😀 Another great video!
Thank you for the useful tips x I wish I could do it as good as you sometime the glitter gets clogged I am so going to try the way you just shown us x x
Nicki hon, this is a great tutorial,I have messed up so many brushes because they get clogged,I can see now that I was not dipping and wiping as I was applying the acrylic,Plus I think the brushes were just cheap and cheerful ones. Can you recommend a brush, that is good but not too expensive to buy please? I need to do my nails as I have not done them for months but have not got a brush. Thanks, hugs,Elaine xx
I am not a nail tech (in fact, after watching your videos for a few weeks I finally went and had my first set of acrylics done...I wanted so badly to tell the woman that she was doing it all wrong, but stayed quiet. Needless to say, I'll be finding someone else to go to next that uses clean drill bits and other equipment!), but I am curious...the acrylic liquid is a bit pricey (to my eyes at least) for the small bottles like you get and it seems that you have to wipe a good amount on the paper towel to get your brush properly wet and whatnot...are there other ways to keep from "wasting" it? I so look forward to having a new video of yours to watch each week! There are only a handful of channels that I religiously watch every week - and yours is definitely one of them (and the only nail one as the other four are makeup vloggers). I think that if the opportunity ever came where you could financially attend school to get your degree/certificate that you should! You blow some of even the most experienced nail techs I've seen out of the water! Have a lovely week! xoxo
The monomer isn’t that pricey you use small amounts at a time so a 4-8oz bottle with just you using it will last awhile.. ive had an 8oz bottle for at least 2 months & it depends on how much your practicing or doing your own nails..
I used to be well I still am an artist and when you’re done with the color such as paint acrylic you just put it in the water for the paint that no matter what brush you use and you’re done oil paint is a little different and then of course now that I’m trying to be a nail technician many times I wipe my brush while I’m doing my own nails and until I get it down I won’t touch another hand except a plastic one I just can’t get away from the clogs no matter what brand they are and they all are sable hair calling ski they’re not $70 brushes but they’re not five dollar brushes either the roundabout price is between 20 and $35 so that’s average for a beginner and I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong I’m a great artist but I really have a hard time with the acrylic on nails however I still love doing it even though my brush looks a hot mess at the end what do you suggest?? Tysvm if u can respond…
Somebody else on here said you’re professional as far as they’re concerned. I’d like to add my two cents: I’m a nail tech and would be happy to call you a professional (solidarity!). Being professional is about professionalism, care for clients, dedication to improving and a passion for the vocation. You can pick up training when you’re ready if you want to prove it to people but, more for Health & Safety but, some professionals aren’t as good as you and that’s a fact! 🤷🏼♀️
Nikki Nikki Hey Nikki, for this video I can’t quite remember where I got this one from. In my more recent videos, in the description box u will see 2 links to where u can get 2 kinds of different brushes, both the companies are really good and very reliable. The Alpha link, they are based in the USA and will post worldwide. Hope that helps x
Yes thank you for this video! I thought I was doing something wrong because my paper towel is always such a mess lol. Your getting really good with the bigger sized brush. Tfs Nicki!
+sue cooke You have to make sure it's a kolinski sable, some brushes are that bad, ur lucky to get one application out of them! Hope this video helps u hun x
Do u have any photos of what oval acrylic brushes are supposed to look like after they are dry bc I got a #8 oval brush from alphabrush and now the brush is dry and it looks kind of weird? Like I cleaned it and now it doesnt have an oval shape , but whenever it is in the liquid it goes back to an oval shape. Idk if that’s normal or I should return it ? I believe I am exaggerating but I wanna make sure I didn’t get a bad batch
ally idk No hun that sounds quite normal, mine do exactly the same, as long as it goes into the nice oval shape when it’s wet, it will apply acrylic the right way (if u get what I mean!!) xx
The Acrylic liquid stinks or at least mines does anyways but anyway do u have a fan to clear that horrid smell up or have u just got used to it? Thanks x

"Dip, tap, and carry on" is my new philosophy for life. Thank you.
I had to watch this again to see what u meant (it is 4 years old lol) but u made me LOL!! Xx
Even though you may not have gone to nail tech school I think you have the right to call yourself a professional

by far best tutorial. every video i've seen, they never explain what they do with the brush when it goes out of frame
What a fantastic video Nicki. Oh how I wish I had seen this video while I was still doing acrylic nails. I always had bad clogging problems. I don't do acrylics now because I've become allergic. I would like to add 1 thing if I may, Nikki, n that is.... DO NOT keep wiping ur brush n the same spot 😉
I learned that the hard way lol
What happens if you do keep wiping your brush in the same spot?
Cherry Lacrosse It becomes too wet and the brush gets thick and hard to work with sometimes depending on the brush.
@@ConfusedCurlz Thank you, I did it and my almost brand new brush starting fanning out the bristles
Cherry Lacrosse clean it with acetone (let it sit for about 5 minutes) carefully clean out and acrylic and treat the bristles with oil then wash it out with warm water. It should be as good as new. I suggest just having a roll of paper towels near to so you can replace it easily. 😊
