Should have used a buck regulator with current limiting adjustment. As it is, if the batteries were actually flat (yours weren't) the charge current would possibly be very high and blow up you buck regulator or the batteries. This is possibly one of the reasons there are so many Lithium Ion fires.

No. It has to be a special charger (i.e. XL4015) that has constant current (CC), constant voltage (CV). You cannot use a normal 12V or 13.2V constant voltage power supply.

The BMS in the lithium battery is for the battery protection of low voltage cut out, excess current turn off, over charging protection. It is mainly for preservation, not charge management.
So what your saying if the bms doesn’t specify cell balancing then its just for charging and discharge management? I have a charger that has variable voltage and current settings and over charge protection so I’m wasting my money because i can always put a fuse to protect the device against excessive discharge current although i wouldn’t have undercharge protection shutoff other than installing a voltage meter.

NOW does a BMS do this? Hint the answer is NO ! You can drive a screw in using a hammer but that is stupid - so is using a BMS to charge

I’m just getting into this now and just using slightly cycled batteries to learn and having removed the bms that comes with modules i didn’t know how important cell balancing would be as i picked up a variable charger that can handle the charging requirements. Guess i’ll find out!

i have a nikon en-el4a battery it is 11.1v 3s . My logic follows that if i opened it up i would find a similar bms board inside . In order to charge it with a smart charger like imax i assume i just need to connect the positive and negative terminals?
If you know that then you know the status of the capacitance of your battery by determining how much current it took from total discharge in X amount of time.
У меня такая плата вообще не запускается. Придется пока её отложить и заряжать в Imax6. Но тут проблема, чтобы не высадить аккумуляторы ниже 2.7В. Использовать буду в RC модели.
