  • How To Make 12V 15Amp Lithium Battery Without Spot Welding and Soldering.
    Hello friends, This is very cool project to make 12v lithium ion battery pack using lithium battery cell without spot welding and soldering. This battery will gives you 15Amp capacity but output 300Watt output at a time. This is very simple to make just follow all the step and make your own battery pack.
    Components :
    1) Lithium Battery 2500mah 3C :roboman.in/utwc
    2) Lithium Battery 2600mah 3C :roboman.in/mmab
    3) 3S 40 Amp BMS : roboman.in/c0vj
    4) 3S 25Amp BMS : roboman.in/7r3x
    5) Battery Holder 18650 pcb mount: roboman.in/dxdp
    6) Cylinder battery holder 18650 : roboman.in/palu

    These cell holders are NOT meant for making battery packs. For stationary applications its not too dangerous but for a mobile application these are unacceptable. Even for a stationary application the reason why we don't use these cell holders is because of resistance. The contacts have so much resistance that you cannot safely draw anything more than a few amps from cells in these cell holders. Jehu Garcia learned this the hard way when designing his PCB boards (which have many safety features built in that make them at least usable for low draw applications that are stationary). He had to test a bunch of cell holders and find ones that provided the least resistance and I think now he has a low drain and medium drain option.
    I have a video on my channel showing you what the resistance is of these cell holder contacts and which ones are the best or the worst.

      Wow..... good point about the heat! How does this thing charge? Is it a reverse voltage across the two contacts? Ia that how the BMS board's work?

      I have such small battery cases. 1 5V and another 12 V. It is ok for small amp. They give 50% current of normal Powerbank but depending of the use, it can be enough and useful. Camping, emergency, radio, lamp, Bluetooth. Even fan. Will not use it for such a project. Maybe such cases with pure copper exist ?

    Very good, well done. But there is something that should be taking in consideration: Output terminals (See minute 8:55) must be soldered but not crimped because in case of a high current demanding by any load, it can create problems in these teminals. So, my rating is 4.7⭐

      I used to think same as you guys but the accepted method and preferred over soldering is "crimping" the connectors. I do think however that his crimping was not of best quality. Oversized crimps for his gauge wire for one and the crimp itself was not ideal.

    • @FarhanAli-fd6vq
      @FarhanAli-fd6vq Рік тому +3

      lol, on high current that crap bms will shut down (trip) and in order to make the trip over you need to either charge it or disassemble it. In most of the videos all of these people doing such stuff knows nothing about it. He built the battery without knowing what battery is.

    • @ericklein5097

    Worrying when you don't even know the difference between Amps and Ampere-Hours.
    They are not the same.
    We don't measure battery capacity in amps, it's measured in either Ampere-Hours (Ah) or in Watt-Hours (Wh).

  • @ashutoshrath1918
    @ashutoshrath1918 Рік тому +2

    No soldering hmmmm ok
    You need to change those wire because that can't handle 15 amps if you draw that much and make some ventilation hole in cabinet /outer shell because as you use li-ion get heat up also bms so if you don't want a fire hazards make some holes
    Overall it was awesome project and you did it great

    One slight concern. Why only crimp the internal ring tag connectors,? It would be better to solder them and sleeve them for stability and current capacity.

    • @ChrisSmidt-us1bz
      @ChrisSmidt-us1bz 7 місяців тому

      Solder would be the best option. And if I might add, a better quality crimped fitting would have been the preferred option. Must confess though that the built is great and I shall try a similar battery but with a three times four cell containers like these. Still, great job.

      He used cell holders with steel leaf springs, I doubt he cares about any of that. He didn't even charge/discharge all the cells to the same voltage prior to connecting them. Some of them got one hell of a charging current for a couple seconds.

  • @ericklein5097
    @ericklein5097 Рік тому +3

    All battery voltage >3.7V? Why? As long as the cell isn't below its minimum discharge voltage its safe to use
    What you need to do is put all the cells at the same voltage before connecting any in parallel and to make balancing easier do the same before series connecting.
    Imagine the charging currents some of these cells received when you hooked them up in parallel. Can only wonder what the balance was like for the first 20 cycles until the BMS was able to get anywhere sorting that out with limited balance current

    • @o.m.2188
      @o.m.2188 Рік тому +1

      No, these are 3C cells so with 15Ah capacity the max. power output would be 15x 3=45A. That's not enough to start a car! The 2nd problem are the cheap battery holders which are limited to handle only low currents. Their clamps are made of steel but for higher currents it needs nickel or copper. And the 3rd Problem are his crimp connections. You want full contact between the copper wires and the connector. To fold it backwards and put the heatshrink in between is not a good idea. The resistance is very high at that spot and can pretty hot and if the insulation melts the wire will come loose.
      For a car battery replacement you want
      - 8C cells lor lipo pouch cells with 20C or even higher ratings
      - best siuted are LFP cells because they have better cycle life (up to 3000 charges)
      - better connections between the parallel cells to handle high current, nickel or copper
      - thicker wire for serial connections and from cell pack to outer +/- connectors and better crimp connection(without insulation clamped in)
      But there is a much better way for a car battery replacement. Simply buy 6 super capacitors like Skeleton or Maxwell 3000μF/2,7v, connect them in series using a BMS especially made for a 6S super capacitor battery and that's it. You only need to pre-charge it once and it can be charged and discharged millions of times and can throw out tons of amps. That would probably be the last battery you would ever need in your life time...

    Very well done with all the necessary steps for a beginner. I saw many videos like this one but without all the steps such as where to connect the BMS to the batteries...
    Liked and subscribed. Can you make some videos about how to make a normal power banks for 20 Amps or even 30 Amps for home and another powerbank with a small solar cell for charging it ? With all the steps, what kind of cells to add, including what kind of 5 v charging module to use and how to connect it with BMS and maybe with a small module which shows the Volts, amps maybe and/or the percentage of the available power/charging ? Thank you.
    Oh, with normal charging at 2.1 A or 2.4 A , no need for 3 A quick charge.
