After clear coat, wait a few days, if it doesn't wrinkle then you did it right. If it wrinkles you need to cut & buff it. Its a very tricky clear (wet look)... You need to put it on in very light coats (about 5), not all at once. You need to clear these colors on styrene plastic, spoons are different for some reason they give you a nice gloss. I really like their paints.
The fire orange looks good on a 70's Doge Charger. Also, the Saffire Blue looks good on a 80's GMC Pichup. Testers Extreme Lacquer paints are for model cars. Someone might find other uses for the Extreme Lacqure. We will have to see later down the road. Mike
Thank you for the test/review 👍👍 I have used a couple of these. As long as you do light coats and wait about 5 to 10 minutes before each cote it will lay down beautifully. I am wanting to get an airbrush but for now I am using spray. cans.
Many years ago, Testors put out factory automotive color lacquers in spray cans. We had several leak at the seals after they where on the shelf for a few months. Hobby Lobby has 1100 stores and a warehouse to stock so they buy directly from RPM (owner of Rustoleum-Testors) and have very good buying power (= lower cost) where us mom and pop shops only buy 3 or 6 cans from a a distributor (who has a markup) so us small shops have to sell at "retail" to make a couple dollars on a can. I suspect that each rattle can coat is much heavier than each airbrush coat, maybe 2 or 3 to 1 heavier. Thanks for sharing you time and experiments with us.
Thank you for this test, I will try their clear coat. In regards to your dog's limp, my small Terrier had a front leg limp that was treated with acupuncture (he was back to normal after a few treatments).
I always recommend these to anyone and everyone. They are fantastic decanted and are absolutely beautiful when topped with 2K clear, wet sanded, and polished out.
Great paint review and testing, that green on car body looks great. And the can of wet look is really cool. But the price OH my. I've been painting with testors enamel and lacquer for too many years to count, have always had good luck. I have two bottles of their glosscote and 2 of dullcote right here front of me. One bottle that I bought at Riverside Hobbies in Sacramento better then 10 years ago has a price tag of $3.35 for 1 3/4oz bottle. Still works great. Thank you BR, great video.
I've used the Fiery Orange, Mystic Emerald and Inca Gold (the old name of the Gold) on some of my car models and I love it. I've used the Diamond Dust as a base for some of the other colors.
I love these paints right out of the can! I have decants of the maroon, red, gold and the white lightning. I have cut them all with Levelling Thinner otherwise they dry way too fast for my liking. Also, 8.29 is entirely too much for this small can. I should have picked up a ton before they jacked up the price at Hobby Lobby last year.

Hi, Few years back... I had the same problem with a few Testors lacquers cans! I believe the sprays cans are defected! And I stop using them, Actually I don't have any more spray cans everything is in yards or plastic bottles!
No definitive answer but I just used the extreme wet look clear lacquer and unfortunately got a couple runs. I plan to sand those areas level, but when can i sand polish these types of testors lacquer spray paints?
That Purple and that what you called Subaru Blue are looking awesome. And that Metallic black was also nice with a lot flakes in it. BTW DID you got the GaaHleri e-mail about the summer sale from 1-6 untill 30-6 with 40% off. Will ordering a few brushes inc you swallowtail with fancap and support. Still the first order coupon for the discount, hitting a big buy for little money. Yes Yes Yes i AM 100% DUTCH.
Most of those look real good. The Purple- icious lays a nice purple on the current release 40 Ford sedan kit. And Deja blue lays nice dark blue on the brown plastic of the '86 Ertl release. There was another one that got overlooked here. The Inca gold it lays down with a matte finish came out of the can with alot of goobers. I plan on stripping the body,of the 67 Cobra, and airbrushing it with that color. It's a good color. I like it, just better through an airbrush.
Of its my spray booth you're asking about, it's a Pace Spray Booth. The one you see is their largest one. I also have one that about half that size. I've done videos on them. Search Pace Spray Booth, they are hand made by Bob Pace in the US. Wonderful man
I’ve used them when they were the One Coat. Had the same issue of them leaking that varnish out of the seams. They made a mess. But besides that, they were awesome. That white lighting got me tho. Didn’t know it was a pearl as the cap didn’t indicate that. It looked like metallic white. So when I sprayed it over gray primer, it came out like a silver gray color…still looked good tho. Will be trying them out as I did buy a few that were on sale.
Also, make sure you shake the can well. The pigment may clump up and have a thick layer on the bottom. That is the main reason I cut the top off so I know I've gotten al the pigment.
I just decanted 27 cans of paint this weekend. Do not poke a hole in the can until you have removed as much of the gas as you can. Hold it upside down and hold nozzle for several minutes. If you don't you will lose half or more of the paint. You won't be able to stop the paint from coming out. Ask me how I know. I will let it sit upside down for several more minutes while I am starting another one. The gas will continue to come out of the paint as it sits in the can. Do it again just before drilling. Don't do it inside. Don't drill into the domed part at the top. Drill just below the thick ridge connecting the dome and the can. Use a paper towel in one hand next to the drill bit. Cover the hole quickly with the paper towel and thumb. You can slowly let the gas out but it could still come out a lot. Do not have the hole facing you as you drill. Do not aim it at anything you don't want to paint. Make sure you have plenty of paint thinner and paper towels handy. I had to repaint some patio furniture after my first attempts. After your big hole I cut the top off and squeeze the top to a point. Pour into a plastic or glass bottle and put the cap on loosely for at least several hours. I use throwaway funnels to make less of a mess. Sometimes no matter how careful you are there will be a mess.
Hey it's a spray cans review time, such a great time when your hobby is getting so intense. wish i will be like you in my future, can do much of a hobby in my free time. Bless you, hope you're doing great, sir.
Rattle canned the mystic emerald over the diamond dust and got a really rich, deep emerald finish. The metallic can seem a little of scale in 1/25th model cars, especially the de ja blue.
mine ran great until it got over 100k miles. i loved that car. i had 2 Nakamichi 12s in the back and was drivin around bangin Metallica and SOUTH OF HEAVEN !! my neighbors hated me for it LMAO.
hey rex watching from Australia love the content. I look forward to your videos each week it helps a lot. i started with the hobby build Gundam's and just recently got into helicopters and fighters jets for the first time. Is your paint line avaible here in Australia.
Hi from your experience does anybody make paint for Kyosho Optima Mid 60 I anniversary edition? They call it Peppermint Green. Or maybe advice on how to mix/match it?
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Gaahleri sale on the website, pretty good prices. Maybe you could mention it on your Community page. I’m not connected with them but bought your Swallowtail from them and was extremely impressed.

I had the cans for a while. The colors are good. But over time the liquid comes out of the can. I still have some. All in the same condition. If you are going to use the can completely all at once, it’s ok.
@@barbatosrex9473 That's the part that had me a bit confused. Only because I'd already bought a few cans from hobby lobby and because it says it's primer sealer lacquer all that in one I was like do I need a primer? Cuz I'm a little nervous about using lacquers
The Extreme Lacquer paints are outstanding for a spray can option. They must have a good dose of retarder in them because the flow and minimal orange peeling is incredible. The downside is lack of color variety, and the colors that are offered are all metallics, some approaching a fine metal flake. I think the dullness of some of the colors is by design and a topcoat of high gloss clear will take care of that. At $8 a can it’s still reasonable. I can easily get 2 car bodies painted per can.
Watching Barbotos Rex on UA-cam while opening my just delivered set of Mecha empire metals.....awesome !

These are lovely. I think the heavy metal flake would look great under a clear colour.
it would be interesting to see the maroon sprayed with the airbrush to see if it is shiny.
Just wondering, does it (and Mr Hobby Color) react when using the AK fine black primer (spray can) as the base?

Robert, since these are supposed to be an all-in-one type paint product, did you do any tape test, durability type testing?
Hello. What I've often wondered about in your videos is how you built your extraction system. Are there instructions for rebuilding this?
You mean my spray booth?

Don't know if you have done this or not, but how would you decant if your spray can doesn't have any more gas in the can but is full of paint?
Drill 2 holes at the top at opposite ends and pour it out
Also, make sure you shake the can well. The pigment may clump up and have a thick layer on the bottom. That is the main reason I cut the top off so I know I've gotten al the pigment.
How do I de-cant from one of these Testors cans? Great video as usual.👍
CAREFULLY poke a small hole at the top, let it gas out, make the said hole bigger, let it gas out more, if necessary then pour it out.

I'm doing great for sure and bless you too
I would have liked to see the wet look sprayed over the already shiny colors to see if that gives it a “show car shine” to the colors.
They come out better using the diamond dust or a gold as a base coat

lmao - i used to have one of those Ford Probe's - mine was a 1994 GT. - by the end, i wanted to cut that thing in half too !!! thats too funny !!
I actually owned one too. It was the generation after this one. Ran good, mine was mostly a Mazda underneath
mine ran great until it got over 100k miles. i loved that car. i had 2 Nakamichi 12s in the back and was drivin around bangin Metallica and SOUTH OF HEAVEN !! my neighbors hated me for it LMAO.
Very useful info. Thanks. 🏁
I do like some of these colors but at $8.29 for 3 ounces not a super deal. Probably best to decant to stretch the paint.
Totally agree

Same thing
Normally I'm not a super shiny clearcoat kind of guy- but move over Future!!!
The silver without the primer does look glossier on my screen. Too bad the pearl white didn't really show very well on camera.
I had the cans for a while. The colors are good. But over time the liquid comes out of the can. I still have some. All in the same condition. If you are going to use the can completely all at once, it’s ok.
Can you d decant the can that was messed up or is it a lost cause
I had trouble decanting it but I'm going to try and poke a hole in the can and drain it
I tried that stuff and had nothing but problems with it
So price point is it worth buying to decant vs say buying a bottle of Gaia?
Bottle of Gaia
@@barbatosrex9473 Thanks 😁
The red was at least15 years old the can has looked like that as long as I can remember!
Maybe it's implied but I still as a novice. Need to ask how would this be on a scale model Gundam kids that use ABS and other plastics?
With ABS and Gundam's I would always primer it first
@@barbatosrex9473 That's the part that had me a bit confused. Only because I'd already bought a few cans from hobby lobby and because it says it's primer sealer lacquer all that in one I was like do I need a primer? Cuz I'm a little nervous about using lacquers
I'll test it on a Gundam kit tonight and see what happens. I'll post it on my community section
What temp do you set your Dehydrator at?
Just over 100 to 120
@@barbatosrex9473 Thanks
I noticed that the $8.29 can from Hobby Lobby had the RustOleum name on it, the $5.99 can from HL did not. Things that make you go "Hmmmm........."
For sure, Rust-Oleum bought Testors a few years ago. I must have had that can sitting around before the purchase hence the price too
The trouble with spray paint is that there's so much waste
You need a spoon company to back you 😆
Thanks For Sharing This Sir 🏆🏆🏆 Praying For God's Healing Touch Upon Your Wife and Puppy 🙏🙏 Amen and Amen.
Rustoleum quality control. They ruined a great model paint. I loved the Model Master line of paints, especially the Metalizer line.
Testors cans are the worst. I've had several of them do the slow leak into goo all over the tops. Even when the cans hold up, the nozzles are crap.
