I got into gunpla earlier this year. Built my first kit and had a big "now what?" moment. I found your video on the Neoeco $40 airbrush and bought it and then bought that air compressor you did a review on around that same time. Your paint tricks and tips have been so helpful to me. For example I had almost stopped using Tamiya paints and then watched a video where you were like "Just use 91% alcohol to the top of the jar and thats it, it's ready to use!" Like those are the kind of tips I love. And your whole "don't worry so much" attitude about cleaning the brush between colors. Love your videos I appreciate the heck out of them!
Great video. I bought your swallowtail when it came out and two weeks ago, like a dummy, was cleaning it over a sink. The trigger screw fell out down the drain and after taking the sink apart, couldn’t find it. I looked everywhere for a replacement screw and reached out Gaahleri directly. They don’t sell this as a replacement part but they actually sent me a replacement screw free of charge! Thanks for all you do!
That is the main problem with airbrushes like that, lack of replacement parts. That being said, it's awesome that they just sent it out to you. Big brands, Iwata, Harder & Steenbeck sell each and every part as a replacement, however they sell them. Doubt they would just send you a part for free. Definitely a plus.
That screw popped off of my swallow tail. Fortunately I found it. It came off twice on me. I had to tighten it the best I could. Hopefully it won’t do so again. 😂
A tip for fitting a threaded nozzle. First put in the needle and place the nozzle on the end of it. Draw the needle back slowly till it meets the body. Start to turn it so the threads bite. Pull the needle back so it is safely out of the way and finish tightening it
I am very impressed with your effort to demonstrate equipment and paints. You have demonstrated your concern about working with quality manufacturers as by the service they have provided to you and your followers. Replacing screws for free, changing bottles to provide lasting storage, and your time and energy to make it happen is a real plus in this day and age when quality service tends to be lacking. And Kudos to you for doing this on your birthday.
Once again, happy birthday! You're the main reason I even build gunpla, and thanks to your instruction, I'm custom painting! Keep on keepin on, brother
Screw on nozzles are much more precise than drop in, which is why they are used on all higher end airbrushes, like the gsi you mentioned. Iwata makes a nozzle tool, which, in my opinion, should always be used instead of the wrench. Not only is it much easier to use, but it almost eliminates the chance of snapping the nozzle off. Nozzle changes can be made just about as quickly as the drop in style with the tool. Great video.
I was going to mention this, but you got it. My Iwata CR and my PS-290 have the screw nozzle. I picked up the Iwata tool and it's a total game changer. Virtually eliminates the chance of over tightening the nozzle. I drilled a hole in the opposite end and put it on my keychain that has all my cleaning brushes so I don't misplace it.
Definitely easier to use the newer drop in nozzles. I’ve used Thayer Chandler air brushes for years which has had the cone style nozzles and they were much easier to use so a comparison between the two brushes would be fun.
Not a bad airbrush. Seems like a decent investment. I use a self closing duck bill tweezer to install screw in nozzles. Thank you for sharing the nozzle information. I am a beginner with airbrushes and had no idea they made drop in nozzles 😮
I bought my first black widow with the trigger gun 3 weeks ago... I might buy another and switch it to the .3mm needle and nozzle and leave it as is.... I have a bunch of model cars to build.... Hope they can handle lacquer paint....🙄 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT!!!!!.... 😁👍
Happy Birthday, I appreciate you doing the review and test of this. I have seen this at my local Harbor Freight. Just haven't pulled the trigger on buying it. Thank you again.
I really appreciate your honest review of products showing good and bad points. So far I have never regretted any purchase you recommended. Thanks for all your efforts!
Happy Belated birthday Robert!! Another great review as always. Looks like I am going to see what my local Harbor Freight has hiding amongst their shelves. This airbrush is definately a far cry better than the one i bought years ago.
Yea I always drop the nozzle too. My go to now is a Neoeco w/ .3 and it does the job pretty well. Also dedicated.5 imyyds. I wouldn’t mind switching to a trigger brush. Thanks for your videos, your my go to for most modeling tips.
That seems like a decent airbrush. The labeled caps are definitely a plus. I have one of your swallowtails that I really like, especially for the comfort of the trigger style while working.
Great review, thanks for taking the time and keeping us all informed. I think if the black widow had more "meat" on the palm side of the handle it would help with your grip issue, perhaps an opportunity for someone with a 3d printer. I wish all the airbrush manufacturers would include the containers for the needle & nozzle that's in the airbrush when shipped, so when a user switches from one size to the other they can put the removed size into a properly labeled container.
Happy birthday! Thank you for reviewing this. All I have is a cheap airbrush with a built in compressor, and I've been looking for a reasonably priced replacement for it. This one looks promising.
I think I definitely prefer yours in terms of convenience for the nozzle but I do find that the swallow tail tends to "sputter" more for metallics in 0.5 with the fan cap when compared to the screw on nozzle regular AB.
This was interesting and great to see, was rather curious about the gun style air brushes for priming and such. Need to get something that I can change needle sizes with for other paints. Great video, thank you Robert!
Happy birthday Robert! I am always looking forward to every video to put out. I am thankful that your reviews are always honest regardless pf what the item is. Please keep it up!!!
I have both the new Black Widow. They have one in 0.2mm & 0.3mm, and the pistol grip that has 0.3mm and 0.5mm. This one has a fan tail. I can tell you they are very good 👍. Not bad, but I would still order a Gaahleri airbrush. Any Gaahleri airbrush is amazing. If you collect airbrushes, you will love the Spectrum airbrushes. I love the big grip. I actually dipped my Gallery Swallowtail in rubber to make it a little bigger. That's my only problem with the Swallowtail; the handle needs to be bigger. It's too small.
I started out with the Harbor Freight airbrush (with the siphon bottles) It was good to learn on. Now thanks to you I've bought the Badger patriot and each time I'm getting better. As my skill increases so will the amount I'll spend on airbrushes. Just bought the compressor with the separate tank. Keep up the great work. Happy Birthday!!
I personally like the labeling on the nozzle parts. Very easy to see and one of my pet peeves of other manufacturers. The overall look is very cool. Like the black with gold accents. Maybe I'll get one just to paint Halloween decorations.
I feel like ghaaleri's channeling on the nozzle makes a big difference too IMO but i have a .2mm tamiya airbrush that is spectacular, luckily i never have to change the nozzle though
Not too shabby, I definately agree about the nozzle. Can be trying at times for sure. I'll admit to having broken one before😅 Awesome Iron Maiden flask. Somewhere in time is probably one of the best albums ever imho. Have a good evening and happy late birthday boss!
When i am changing nozzles I slide my needle through the brush and slide the nozzle on the needle. Than back the needle out until I can start the nozzle.
Happy Birthday (again), Robert! Thanks for this video, very informative. My vote also would be for drop-in plug-n-play nozzles. Wonder why they didn't think of that? I'd imagine the machining cost for threads would actually cost the OEM more.
It's a great video and looks like a decent trigger brush for a decent price. I'm ok with mine that was only $30 but the nozzles doesn't like to work with the needles it's supposed to go with. Also, for that new color. I got a neat name for it. Burnt Wrought Iron.
I've been using their "Avanti" airbrush for 2 years now, and it works better and more reliably than my expensive Iwata airbrush. Harbor Freight has really stepped their game up.
Your review dropped at the right time! I was just at harbor freight and weighing the gaahleri swallowtail vs the widow. I'm all about the drop in nozzles too, so that seals the deal!
I'm getting back into model building after a 30 year hiatus. I really appreciate your videos on air brushing. I've only done rattle cans but would love to take up air brushing.
Nice review! It does remind me of my Grex, just not built as nice. Taking the needle cap off is tedious, but I've gotten used to it. Harbor Freight can be hit or miss on some things, so it's nice to see this is good. Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a great one!
I have you 2nd batch of airbrushes Rex and love it. I use all Gaahleri brushes now. I have/had 2 of the brushes that you need a wrench to change the thing and I gave the newer one away and the other is in the desk drawer... Lol Like the looks of the brush if only it was a quick change... LLAP 🖖
Thanks for reviewing this! Your channel has been a lot of help. everything I actually want to purchase, I find a review on your channel and I know what i’m getting. Been wanting a trigger type airbrush so I’ve been watching your reviews on what’s out there.
Again Robert, Happy Birthday! I saw the Black widow at Harbor Freight the other day and was curious about it so thanks for the test. Take care everyone!
Happy Birthday. So nozzle type is not a big deal and just to show you on my Swallowtail, the first time I changed the nozzle the nozzle fell off and went bouncing into oblivion. Of course as soon as I stopped looking for it, I found it. Pros and cons on both sides. I might have to check out one of these Black Widows.
I think this looks like a really nice, affordable air brush. The presentation is fantastic- the case looks great, the black and red interior is great. The black and gold on the air brush looks sharp. Nice air brush for $70!
I'm new to airbrushing, but look forward to the testing that you have done with all your video, I use a lot of your reviews now. Thanks, look forward to your videos.
Been subscribed, liked, and watched the video. To be honest most of the master airbrush series also have the screw on nozzle. I agree drop in the way to go. .
Your swallowtail arrived today, very impressed with the packaging and all the included items, haven't tried it yet but maybe later tonight. Only thing is I wish I had known it was going to be on sale :)

They have awesome customer service

That screw popped off of my swallow tail. Fortunately I found it. It came off twice on me. I had to tighten it the best I could. Hopefully it won’t do so again. 😂
So is that a problem with this airbrush? Yours is the third one I've read. I just bought one.
Hasn't happened to me. I did tighten that screw when I got mine, seems to be holding up

Both the Black Widow compressor and the regular brush are on my "buy soon" list. Nice.
Happy birthday! thank you for your informational videos! I always love your enthusiasm when reviewing products.
Thank you Mr.Rex for being an amazing resource to learn the techniques and tricks that I've used to take my model painting to the next level.
Happy birthday Robert. Great content, I have learned a lot from you. Keep up the great work.
A nice looking airbrush. Thanks for the review. Happy Birthday. Sto Lat!
Both are nice looking air brushes. Guess depends on someone’s personal preference. I do like the drop in nozzle
Thanks for the review, Robert! And you're definitely not alone in disliking the screw in nozzles. And Happy Un-birthday!
Happy Birthday, I appreciate you doing the review and test of this. I have seen this at my local Harbor Freight. Just haven't pulled the trigger on buying it. Thank you again.

As always a honest review! Please keep up the great work, a lot of us depend on your honesty!
That seems like a decent airbrush. The labeled caps are definitely a plus. I have one of your swallowtails that I really like, especially for the comfort of the trigger style while working.
I've been waiting to see this video thanks for the review Robert. Happy Birthday
lwata sales wrench that is easier to use.
Happy 🎉 Birthday 🎂 Robert! All the best! Keep up the good work, and the 100k dream of yours will just happen!!
Again, another insightful video. I have been learning SO much from your UA-cam videos. Thanks!!!

Happy birthday Robert, wishing you the best. Thanks for showing off the cool airbrush.
Love the channel, been watching for quite awhile now. Always enjoyable to watch regardless of subject matter. Keep up the amazing work.
Looks like a nice brush to have on the side for quick color changes or to have different needles sizes ready to go. Thanks for sharing.
Happy birthday! Thank you for reviewing this. All I have is a cheap airbrush with a built in compressor, and I've been looking for a reasonably priced replacement for it. This one looks promising.

Nice review. Very informative. I like that you give an honest opinion and not a lot of fluff.
Keep it up Barbatos....it's been a while since I've checked your stuff out but I do so enjoy all you do!
Happy birthday Robert…both the Swallowtail and Black Widow spray guns look awesome!!!
This was interesting and great to see, was rather curious about the gun style air brushes for priming and such. Need to get something that I can change needle sizes with for other paints. Great video, thank you Robert!
Happy Birthday! Thanks for everything you do. I've learned so much from you!
That Black Widow airbrush looks cool! The trigger style airbrushes have always intrigued me. Thanks for the review!
Always enjoy your reviews on different products. You are very thorough with everything. I learn a lot from these videos. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for the quick demo on the blackwindow an the time an effort you put into are videos and hope you had a good birthday
Definitely helps me choose between this and the Gaahleri! Happy birthday too
Happy birthday Robert! I am always looking forward to every video to put out. I am thankful that your reviews are always honest regardless pf what the item is. Please keep it up!!!
I like that airbrush and the case it comes with. I also like the fact that things are labeled on the airbrush.
Happy Birthday Robert! Easy to remember - it’s the same as my best friend’s when I was a kid. Thanks for another great review.
Not a bad airbrush for the money, really. It sure looks better than some of the others on the market. Thanks for the info and happy birthday, Robert!
Robert, Happy birthday and thanks for testing these HF Black Widow products!
Happy Birthday and another great video. 🎉🎉 wouldn't switch my swallow tail for nothing, I love it.
Love this video and I love using the swallowtail for primers and clears!!
Nice Airbrush,Harbor Freight has been upping their game, and Happy Birthday my Friend.
Happy Birthday! Watching your videos have been really informative since I've gotten into gunpla.
I was looking at one today at Harbor Freight then I got notification of your review so this helps me decide

Awesome Iron Maiden flask. Somewhere in time is probably one of the best albums ever imho.
Have a good evening and happy late birthday boss!
I appreciate the review, I've been thinking about getting another airbrush specifically for priming and varnishing.
Happy birthday🎉, glad you did this review. I've been looking for an honest opinion of this airbrush, as always great job.
When i am changing nozzles I slide my needle through the brush and slide the nozzle on the needle. Than back the needle out until I can start the nozzle.
Love your videos lots of information every time. Oh I love the fan nozzle.
Robert, always appreciate your reviews. Love your airbrush btw. It’s become my most used by far.😊
A nice looking airbrush. I'd be interested to see how it performs with acrylics since I use those almost exclusively.
Oh, and Happy Birthday 🙂
I've been wanting to get into model cars you make it look so fun and easy. Keep up the great work!
As always, thank you for a reliable review. It’s really appreciated.
Happy Birthday (again), Robert! Thanks for this video, very informative. My vote also would be for drop-in plug-n-play nozzles. Wonder why they didn't think of that? I'd imagine the machining cost for threads would actually cost the OEM more.
I saw they were selling this line there now and wondered how well they perform ,thanks for another great video ! Happy Birthday !

It really amazes me how much better harbor freight stuff has gotten. I used one of their cheap brushes like 15 years ago.
I've been using their "Avanti" airbrush for 2 years now, and it works better and more reliably than my expensive Iwata airbrush. Harbor Freight has really stepped their game up.
Great video again!
They both look awesome! Thanks again for the video's!
Happy Birthday. Just getting into the Gunpla hobby so I am trying to get my toolkit built. Fingers crossed!
Your review dropped at the right time! I was just at harbor freight and weighing the gaahleri swallowtail vs the widow. I'm all about the drop in nozzles too, so that seals the deal!
Happy birthday, Robert. Thanks for the video.
Really enjoy your airbrush testing video. This one did not disappoint ether.

Happy b-day. Saw the Airbrush the other day at HF and it peeked my interest. Your review has help me answer some questions i had about the brush
Again Robert, Happy Birthday! I saw the Black widow at Harbor Freight the other day and was curious about it so thanks for the test. Take care everyone!
Happy birthday, hope both you and your missus are doing well - this looks interesting.
Happy birthday Robert. Great video as always

Happy b-day dude!! Helped me get in to air brushing last year during a rough time. Thanks for what you do!!
Thanks for another informative review. it sure helps as I am retired and need to make good choices with my limited resources.
Harbor Freight has stepped up their product line up over the last few years. Another great review.
Thanks for all the reviews you do. I wouldn't have had the confidence to start airbrushing if it weren't for your videos.
Happy Birthday old(er) man! I both of the Black Widow airbrushes, but haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I'll get 'round to it, though.
ever since i started airbrushing. youve been my number one guy for tips
I'm new to airbrushing, but look forward to the testing that you have done with all your video, I use a lot of your reviews now. Thanks, look forward to your videos.
Welcome aboard my friend and thanks for watching
happy Birthday Robert! Feliz cumpleaños!!!
I've been curious about this airbrush. Thanks for the review.

Always useful tips on painting models. Now I just need time to paint mine.
Really enjoy these reviews! Started using Mica pigments and clear coats helped me find colors for some of my projects.
Nice review as always. I just purchased a new compressor based on your recommendations.
Thank you for doing this. Was thinking about trying this out and now I can see it is worth trying. Keep up the great content.
