This is what I like about you: Wildly amateurish carpentry with a soupcon (I don't know how to spell it) of O.C.D. + a pile of perfectionism, blended with a goofy philosophical mind set! There! I said it. Been subscribed long time.
Floor insulation - since you have some of it left, you might consider installing the rolls flat against the bottom. It should not matter if the joists are uneven. This will give you an air space with the insulation on top and bottom... which should significantly increase the R factor. I've seen this done on other floor applications. Will also help keep the bugs out. Love your videos. Greetings from Brookings, Oregon.
I don’t know if this is entirely applicable, but the people who live in the very isolated communities in northern Canada do not keep their rifles in a heated building in the winter. The moisture in the cabin when exposed to a sharp drop in temperature can cause the rifle to malfunction and prolonged exposure to a humidity environment can also cause rust to the metal components, as well as severely dry out the stock due to constant swings in humidity level, just like the effect on solid wood guitar bodies.
I would tape the edges of that bubble wrap insulation. Not that the gun rack isn't nice enough but crooked branches would look cool too. thanks for the video.
Just a quick idea, try a putting a gutter an downspout on one your buildings. Then bucket/barrel under it for water. Maybe a screen over the top for chunks. Rain water makes a great shower feeling...
Another great Saturday morning. Coffee and Ringworm. When are you going to build your solar bank? That would be a cool project for you... and save you some gas generator time.
You have become my Saturday morning viewing go to . 😊Very entertaining young man. If you get time to skirt the underside I bet the temps will be even better. Something to consider
Water down any color latex paint. Apply with cloth then wipe off immediately. Repeat to desire effect . it makes cool cheap colored varnish. Then poly over it.
Kind of agree with Patrick, another layer of that insulation and glue the edges while you're under the cabin would improve the R factor and seal out the bugs. I really enjoy your creativity!
Those Ringworm Coins are going to be cropping up everywhere there are coin operated machines, so get ready for the notoriety, and then of course the jail time. I love em, I love em, I love em! You do excellent work young man.
You know what you can do? You can draw around the edge of it of your gumbo machine. Then route t head out toward ships down in there enough that it won't fall out or off
Ryan -- who says these upgrades are unnecessary? I can picture learned archeologists from future millennia examining rare plastic tokens bearing the previously unknown image of a ringworm, and speculating liberally about the civilization that used them . . .
Cool. I made a gumball machine out of mahogany in highschool wood shop. Basically a vertical and slanted hole and then a big dowel with a hole slanted that would drop candy as you turned the dowel.
I thought I knew almost all of the great guitarist in the world I had never heard of Derek trucks so I had to Google him Man !!! I listen to midnight in Harlem was blown away thanks for turning me on to him Will be listening to more of him 👍❤️✌🏻
You could put two small dowels to fit on each side of your stud then put a screw under the the shelf in the stud!! Just a though! I do enjoy your shows!!
You probably did not notice but the limb you used for a brace on the M&M dispencer made it look like an optical illusion. It looks like it is suspended from the wall by a limb. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
With the live edge on just one side, it's too bad you didn't mount it with the coins on the right. If you think the oil base poly a little it can soak into the wood and seal it better and still give it that great look!
Love watching your channel. It's the reason that I wake up early on Saturdays. I'm actually going to start building on my off grid property this summer. You have alot of good content
love the perfect lower case "r"s (for ringworm, I am sure) you put upside down to hold your rifle. Can't wait for you to make the "cheese" dispenser as cool as the candy dispenser.....a must have in the woods...but hope the bears don't sniff it out!
Sorry Ryan, I just couldn't reach from where I am sitting....Ontario Canada LOL!!!:) -I'd have to get an invite, hint, hint.... yea... i Get it! 😄👍 Hey that first pass with the router looked like a Charlie Brown Smile! Every cabin ought to have a gumball machine!! You have a gift of cutting out the R&D on a project with very few prototypes -if any!
Question: have you considered adding gutters to your cabin to capture rainwater? It may supplement your freshwater source without the need to drain the swamp to refill your tanks?
I've never used glow in the dark filament before, but they say it will chew up your nozzles if they aren't hardened. I've also experienced in the past that your drive gear will also get chewed up if it's not hardened. Just a little tip if your using a lot of glow in the dark filament. It can slowly degrade your print quality due to the wear on the mechanical parts.
Maybe you should make some coozies for your water buckets using the reflectix insulation. Should keep the water from freezing and also catch the sweating. You could put some felt in the bottom. Love your videos!
For the mancave a wood block vice and some peg holes in a bench. Find a couple of used rigid solar panels and mount them near the cabin. Even in bad weather they will generate some power and trickle charge the Jackery's. On a good day they'll be banging. Cut down on the generator.
Now just add another layer of the bubble insulation spaced about 1 1/2 -1 3/4 apart and your R value will increase so much you won't even believe it ! As a hint , I just ripped some 2" rough cut strips from scrap material to hold it in place and did a triple layer on the skirting on my camp and at well below zero F I can now run around barefoot with no issue now. In hindsight three layers was likely over kill and I realized 2 probably would have sufficed . Of course originally the main floor had been insulated with standard insulation, but sense I added the skirting and bubble insulation the second Winter my floors went from around 40-45 F normally to nice and toasty on well below 0 F days. I swear by the "Refletix insulation" and in the 3 Winters I've been here at the High Mountain Homestead I reduced my firewood consumption by well > a full cord the second and third year just from using that insulation and I only heat with wood . Big Plus,, it's just so darn easy to work with too ! You think the single layer did wonders for you Ryan, try a second layer with a dead air space in between and you'll be astounded by just what a difference it makes,,who'd a thunk it ? I like it so much I am using it on my new 26X30 steel garage and even after using only a single layer so far as a vapor barrier ,,as you did, it made so much of a difference I just can't believe it. I'll never use regular insulation again after using the Refletix insulation. Bonus part is that , bugs, squirrels, and mice just don't touch it and it won't hold moisture like any normal rock wool or pink insulation does,,,,, IT'S FRIGGING AMAZING STUFF !
GosH you could make wooden plates like a cafeteria plate be a big hassal n I duno what youd use em for or serving trays for your parties I always liked wooden bowls for salads n things. Or there arev emersion heaters to heat buckets or even tubs of water but they are electric and expensive we had gas ones in the army for heating 50 gallon barrels n I think they us gas or diesel fuel for the field mess or kitchen w gas stoves.
Why don't you try making 1 x 2 boards and put those on top of the part that sticks down on the bubble insulation underneath and just screw them to the floor joist would be a lot easier than using Staples
Ry, my guy, we need you get the puppy asap, I kno it's a burden of sorts for you, But the customer is always right..and more important than ur needs lmao, and please get you a proper solar power setup Also put some felt on the gun mount mounting surface keep the piece nice
Great fun watching you puts around the cabin on these “unnecessary” improvements! You’re craftsmanship just continues to improve. Not surprised that the bubble foil improved your heat loss. Excellent!
Ryan, That Cedar Wood you have on your property makes some beautiful stuff. You are fortunate. I would do anything to have a cedar tree on my 4 acres. P.S. The GumBall Machine Holder wood looks really good regardless of what kind of wood it is.
Love that you are making your own bit coin.
This is what I like about you: Wildly amateurish carpentry with a soupcon (I don't know how to spell it) of O.C.D. + a pile of perfectionism, blended with a goofy philosophical mind set! There! I said it. Been subscribed long time.

It would also give critters an amazing new home though...
@@MrFowl a furring strip perimeter and zip tape seams could keep critters, moisture and erratic breezes at bay.
Exactly!! He needs a sealed air gap between the floor joists for it to actually have some R value.
Portable tankless shower. It would pay for itself by not wasting all that propane the way you're heating up that pot.
I don’t know if this is entirely applicable, but the people who live in the very isolated communities in northern Canada do not keep their rifles in a heated building in the winter. Keep it rustic ,like door, drawer pulls, handles. Ect.
You really have some gorgeous wood grains in the lumber you mill!
The best and worst, (if you can call ANY wood grain that) of wood grains!
Ryan, Love your videos. Always take several small passes when using your router. You could always make a wider base for you Ryobi on your 3D printer.
You have become my Saturday morning viewing go to . 😊Very entertaining young man. If you get time to skirt the underside I bet the temps will be even better. Something to consider
Derek Trucks is a guitar powerhouse. He’ll eventually be regarded as one of the “greats” from his generation. World class.
Cabin needs a sign outside “Ringworm HQ” And the year it was completed.
Those Ringworm Coins are going to be cropping up everywhere there are coin operated machines, so get ready for the notoriety, and then of course the jail time.

lookin awesome. so glad you gave the bubble rap a try and that it's working out for you :)
I listen to midnight in Harlem was blown away thanks for turning me on to him Will be listening to more of him 👍❤️✌🏻
you're a craftsman, believe it!
Starting my Saturday morning at the worm is the best‼️🌲😊love your channel👋🏼
So glad you are doing well, Noah n I are so ready to take vacation back up there, living the dream.
Bob Seger's Like a Rock has a mesmerizing slide guitar. I've been known to loop it while driving...
Looks sooooo good.👍
This in now practically the only UA-cam channel I watch. Like your life, these videos are so much fun. Keep the content coming Ryan!
You could put two small dowels to fit on each side of your stud then put a screw under the the shelf in the stud!! Just a though! I do enjoy your shows!!
Hi. You need to remove the moisture. It could cause mold. Can't wait to see what you do. Take care.
Oh my god. We love you, Ry. But you forgot your eye protection while working in the man cave. C'mon!
I've only been watching a short time but i am totally addicted!
You probably did not notice but the limb you used for a brace on the M&M dispencer made it look like an optical illusion. It looks like it is suspended from the wall by a limb. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
BTW, your creativity shows no bounds! Great job! Thank you!!!
Glow in dark coins for bubble gum machine way cool!!!
😂😂
Those bugs in your wood are probably powder posts beetles. We have them here in Tennessee also. I hate those little piles of sawdust they make.
Dude I love the way you are with life
With the live edge on just one side, it's too bad you didn't mount it with the coins on the right.
If you think the oil base poly a little it can soak into the wood and seal it better and still give it that great look!
Ryan, I've been binge watching your videos since I found your channel! Great and entertaining content! Keep them coming!
Every thing is turning out so nice.
That bubble wrap is not insulation. All it is doing is blocking cold air from coming through the cracks, it isn't insulating anything.
Tedeschi Trucks Band - "Gravity" That was awesome. Unique, like your new build. Just some things you wouldn't expect.
Amazing love watching your videos 🤙🏼, and seeing you use all the Ryobi tools
You do have some good ideas. I’m taking steps to do what you’re doing. Shhhh…don’t tell my adult children. They’ll think I’ve lost my mind.
Tung oil is lovely!
I truly can't imagine him taking that whole place apart again to varnish it all later. I look forward to him completing the ceiling.
I can see it! When he's back in the tent this spring/summer he will gut it and finish it up I bet haha.
So fun. I wonder if stapling the bubble wrap straight across the floor joists would trap even more air and insulate better. Bugs be damned. Gumball.
Question: have you considered adding gutters to your cabin to capture rainwater? It may supplement your freshwater source without the need to drain the swamp to refill your tanks?
I find your innovation quite inspiring!
Morning well afternoon here in Switzerland.
The great news is we get to watch him build this twice! I’ll be here every Saturday for the “varnish” restoration!
Now ya need a vice in the old wood shop. :)
I've never used glow in the dark filament before, but they say it will chew up your nozzles if they aren't hardened. Helping your algorithm. Always love your Saturday vids❤
Cool printer money. You always have some cool ideas. Later Ryan. 👍👍😎😎😎😎
Love everything you have done. I was thinking maybe rout out the gum ball tray so the machine sets into the shelf slightly .keep on keeping on.
In some states it is illegal to even possess the lockpick tools.
If you want bring out the wood grain you can get a light color danish oil first then poly it
Love to see you enjoying your cabin, love the paper towel holder and of course the gum ball machine, your hooks are one of a kind
shed antlers work for gun holders............think about it...
I still think another layer of insulation an inch or two down from the other one, would give you much better "R" factor.
Maybe you should make some coozies for your water buckets using the reflectix insulation. Should keep the water from freezing and also catch the sweating. You could put some felt in the bottom. Love your videos!
Deer hooves
You should take the bottom off the gum-ball machine and router out a channel so the coins fall back into the front coin tray.
For the mancave a wood block vice and some peg holes in a bench. Find a couple of used rigid solar panels and mount them near the cabin. Even in bad weather they will generate some power and trickle charge the Jackery's. On a good day they'll be banging. Cut down on the generator.
You put the bubble foil down, but you didn't skirt the cabin, so there is potential for more warmth left
I just want to let you know I really enjoy watching you on UA-cam videos
Bob Villa would be proud of all your wood work accomplishments around camp!
Jackery needs to hook you up with the big guns.
You do pretty nice work Ryan!
Curious to know how well your cordless batteries hold up during the winter temps.
you should get some forstner drill bits for holes
you could get a Mini-Cube woodstove to just supplement your propane use
Now just add another layer of the bubble insulation spaced about 1 1/2 -1 3/4 apart and your R value will increase so much you won't even believe it !

IT'S FRIGGING AMAZING STUFF !
Love how that varathane brings out the grains of that beautiful wood. Good job. 🙋🏻🇨🇦
I think your cabin needs a glow in the dark night light, maybe 3d print a wall light, deer head? bear head? maybe a Big Ring Worm?
Thanks for the video Ryan!
68.7K
When you do the floors I'd like to see you add a sub floor heating loop.
Tedeschi Trucks is awesome, I’ve seen them 3 times in metro Detroit! Love the 3D printing stuff! Great job Ryan! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
GosH you could make wooden plates like a cafeteria plate be a big hassal n I duno what youd use em for or serving trays for your parties I always liked wooden bowls for salads n things. Ive always wondered how to adapt Pavlovian behavior to woodwork. now I know
Double or triple the installation under the cabin
Hello Ryan love watching you improve your cabin love it all 👍🙏❤️
Thanks for the show. The m&m machine log support is great.
Great content Ryan, can't wait for next Saturday morning!
Glad to see you doing your "market research" while testing the coin thicknesses. Thank you for letting us tag Along on your journey. Peace!
You might want to move your gas line away from your burner a little. Looks like it could be a fire hazard, or a flame thrower.
Paper Towel Holder: Tapered, beveled dowels for ends?
You should 3d print a oval disk to make a light bulb so you could have a lifetime night light In your window.
Always fun to have toys that you can make stuff with. Feeds that engineering beast some of us are blessed (cursed?) with. Always worth the visit.
Ryan, That Cedar Wood you have on your property makes some beautiful stuff. You are fortunate. I would do anything to have a cedar tree on my 4 acres. P.S. The GumBall Machine Holder wood looks really good regardless of what kind of wood it is.
What kind of sanding disk do you use on your handheld grinder?
Did you get a couch/loveseat? You've been talking about it.
You use what you have. A resource is great to have.
taking shape nicely.... one thing for your....that your not short of...imagination
