Part of my work from home self care is taking a 20 minute walk during my lunch break when possible. It helps clear my mind, de-stress, and not work through my breaks. If I can squeeze in a walk, I stand on my porch and breathe in fresh air for five minutes after I sign off. I have also become comfortable saying 'No" without guilt or explanation.
Your videos is everything. Literally your voice itself is so calming for a person like me thats dealing with anxiety. As a single parent of two teens and working a lot. Its hard! But i took the time out to put myself first. I go to parks and sit under the water fall and meditate for an hour. Had to get better on loving myself and u see things so differently.
"Take the time don't let it take you" sounds like a line from the Player's Club. lol Much Gratitude for you. Thank you for everything that you share with us , Dr. Nina👑🥂💐💗
Hi dr nina thankyou for your video you are beauitful and intellegent women i happy you are happy with yourself i was struggling with mental health my job was breaking me down
Dr Nina, your self care videos encourages me to take those necessary steps to care for me.To take time for me. I'm learning that taking care of you is not selfish, it's self love 💕.
I watch a lot of your videos. But I don't always make a comments . I decided to take this time to let you know you are appreciated for all of the positive advice that your sharing on your UA-cam Channel. Your recommendations always help . Thank you for sharing.
OMG - I 100% fall into the "everyone telling me I need to make this move, but I believe where I'm now really good -- but then told that I am 'self-sabotaging' by being 'stuck'' - need to get out of my 'comfort zone', etc." - led me to change jobs and although the pay was substantially more, was miserable as it did not fulfill me as the former job did -- felt so stupid not listening to me and relying on others that don't know me or my needs. Good to know that others feel this way too -- got down on myself. But I stripped myself of former job and found another role in former company that is even better -- much less salary, but a role that fills my creative and research loves. Learned what matters to ME most :)
I've been feelin' re~al down these past few months. . . Man, what am I talking about, it's been like a few YEARS. Anyways, this video has really helped me. Thank you so much, Dr. Nina! 😁😆😁
Just had an idea can you ask your husband Sean if he can do a self-care for men vidoe. One of my good friends whose name is Sean as well and he has gone through some life changes and is starting over , relationships job, finaces. He would benefit from a self-care for men video. I know how much your self-care videos helped me to rebuild my self-worth. And I know a male version would help him.
I do the best I can. My self care routine is very simple. Less is more, I love my exfoliates sugar scrubs. You definitely have to do what’s best for you and you alone. #blessings
Yes especially when you have kids. All of these are great, but I have to do what I can because my schedule would not allow me to do everything. At least reading a chapter of a book every other night and taking a bath works for me now.
This video has brought me to tears because my life has gotten to this point Anxiety Always trying to put others first before me. Thank you Dr. Nina your so Beautiful 🤎 your voice is so calming.
Years ago I watched a video where Dr Nina cleaned her scalp with witch Hazel after working out to keep her scalp fresh when her hair is in braids and this was a game changer guys. Works likes a dream to keep that funky braid smell at bay especially if you workout a lot like me.
These videos are EVERYTHING! I love these self-care tips. My self-care is working out (yoga, cycling, strength training, walking), knitting, spa treatments (need to do this more), and watching a good movie with glass of wine and chocolate (cheat meal). Please keep these videos coming❤❤❤
As a woman whos had 3 children under 6yrs, 2 of them in the spectrum and has abandoned herself and let her go, due to lack of time, self love excuses etc... I respect everything you say and appreciate each of the videos Ive watched so far and deeply appreciate them... thanks so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This was very helpful..I've been contemplating relocating to a new city and I've been wasting time thinking about what others would say....... Thanks for helping me remove that burden!
I LOVE your advice Dr, Nina! i'm definitely going to take advantage of my online banking & set up payments, ESPECIALLY my credit cards that I am trying to pay off by the end of the year. I striving to be credit card debt free by the end of the year. My car will be paid off next year & my furniture will be paid off 7/23/22! I'm striving to live beneath my means. I have been working a part time job for almost 2 years but lately my supplemental income has been going to other household bills & that will soon be coming to an end (all I will say is re-evaluating who is good for me). Stay blessed!

Hi Dr. Nina, I enjoyed and appreciated this video so much. I am also a recovering people pleaser as well. I'm learning the value in saying no while being kinder to myself. I saved this video to my "watch later" list so I can refer back to it.
You are so so right many levels Dr.nina I just had to deal with a someone who thought was my friend I learning to not be so trust thank you drive Nina sincerely yours Mrs Amber McCutchen

This was right on time! 🛑 shoulding yourself! I should be here etc.. you are right and the scarcity mindset. I just was reading on this so I’m taking this video as sign for me. Love it 😊
Again, OMG -- I 100% have the scarcity mindset ... I have no problem donating $x , spending $x on my kids (adult), buying special food for my senior pets (who have seen the doc more than I have) -- if there are dollars remaining? Then I feel I need to save it or pay off more bills. I literally feel beyond guilty just buying myself ANYTHING. LOVE our videos --- thank you so much.
Hi Dr Nina! I recently found your channel(subscribed immediately) and i love love you and all the great content you create and i recommended you to my 15 years old daughter and she is also so much in love with Dr Nina. ❤ from South Africa
what a LOVELY video; thank you Dr Nina! Some of these things I already do now, but some of your tips I will aim to put in place. Let me go ahead & book that massage 🤎🤎
You have to put on your own oxygen mask before you help your seat mate!Self-care is not being selfish or self-centered. H-A-L-T-We say that as a reminder in our Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous fellowship. These things of life are big triggers to veering off course of your healthy lifestyle. I also add a 2nd “T” -Thirsty. Dehydration has the same mental deprivation/deficit as drinking alcohol. There are revealing studies about hydration and mental acuity. Thanks Dr. Nina for your wisdom, at such an early age and for teaching us daily. God bless you and your husband🥰
Great ideas, Dr. Nina!!!! I've taken a week off from work in July and I think one of those days I'm going to hit the Shedd Aquarium in downtown, Chi! Thanks for the advice and best to you and your family.
I know personally I ask myself am I angry am I tired am I hungry or am I lonely, and if I can really take a moment and stop and answer those questions, a lot of all of my feelings of inadequacy or anxiety about something I’m doing, someone I’m interacting with, or some event I have to go to just disappear when I can answer those questions. I also do a purge of people on a regular basis. I know that the people in your life are meant to be there for a season or maybe even sometimes a long time, but you have to know when to let go. And I learned that lesson in my teens. All I can ever say at this point is thank God I learned this lesson then. Some people can drain all of your energy, or think that you owe them something for them being your friend, but there is an easy solution to deal with people like that. I don’t have a problem with dumping people out of my life at all. Some people think I’m a snob just because I’m not going to play that game with people. The questions I ask myself when I decide to keep people in my life are. can I laugh with you can I smile with you can I tell you something without it coming back to me on social media, or in conversation with someone else, and lastly, can I cry with you can I do anything that I would normally do with my parents. If I could not answer yes to any of those questions those people get a immediate boot out of my life. So these are some of the things that I did and do on a regular basis just to take care of myself. I’ve always said I like to keep it simple, and I can honestly say that keeping it simple really has truly helped me, because it makes it easier not to buy things because it’s popular. So if anybody else is looking at this, I hope what I do can help somebody and as always Dr. Nina thank you so much for sharing. I stumbled across your channel about maybe 5 years ago, and I have always admired your attitude and your willingness to give people real advice that they can follow and explaining to them that what works for you may not work for someone else. I love the fact that you are a black American woman who is doing her thing and doing it well it’s just something to be absolutely proud of. Thank you so much for being a total inspiration.
Hey Nina I just saw this video for the first time today. I am wondering how well Sunday did with your lawn over the past year. If you get could include an update in a future video I would tell my sister to check them out. She has a yard I dont and I live with her. She currently uses Tru Green and wouldnt mind another opinion.
Hi Dr. Nina, did you experience a hard drop in your mood after working out? Like a crash in an hour to 4 hours after a good work out. If you have, how do you prevent it from happening? Or help it?

“I was way nicer to other people than I was for myself” girl I felt that. I’m still healing from that mentality too so this video is perfect for me 💛
Me too sis I felt that in my soul!
Guilty!! 🥺 Definitely need to take better care of myself 🧖🏾♀️❤
YES! There is no way I would treat others the way I treat myself or even let anyone else talk to me the way I talk to myself.
