This movie is absolutely 𝗣𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗟, an undeniable 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗣𝗜𝗘𝗖𝗘. It’s my all-time favorite film. Watching it in the theater when it first came out in 2014 was pure magic; it completely blew my mind!! But seeing it again a few weeks ago, 12/08/2024, in the IMAX for its 10th-anniversary re-release was mind-blowing too. If you have the opportunity to see it in the IMAX, it's a total CRIME if you miss it! The scale and immersion felt like experiencing it for the first time. Having seen it many times, I found myself often watching the audience in awe of what they were witnessing. The applause at the end was so well deserved and emotional for a movie that still resonates a decade later. It’s incredible to live in a time when Christopher Nolan, arguably the greatest director of the last 15 to 20 years, is creating work like this. Hans Zimmer, the greatest composer of our generation, adds unmatched brilliance to every moment. Seeing them both at the peak of their creative genius, coming together for this project is pure cinematic magic. This isn’t just a movie. It’s a masterpiece that has stood the test of time and remains unmatched. For me, it’s the greatest cinematic achievement ever created.
Rewatched in theaters last week, my first viewing in the theater and I was sobbing (as always) at the video messages scene and the final scene. Masterpiece. Will always hold a special place in my heart!
Thanks for reacting to this movie and sharing your heartfelt emotions! It's definitely a masterpiece of storytelling, emotions, music, special effects and acting. Imagine watching this spectacle in theaters, the visuals were just mesmerizing and made me forget I was watching a movie. Also you could see silhouettes of people in the audience wiping their tears.
Still overlooked in my opinion for some reason beyond me. For me, after 2001 this is the best space sci fi movie ever. It is beyond me how Zimmer did not win the Oscar for the ost, way better the his Dune one, imo.
The Prestige is another great Christopher Nolan movie. Hugh Jackman , Christian Bale and Scarlett Johansen to name a few of the actors in it. Def worth checking out.
It is funny to note, the re-release of Interstellar made more money than some other new releases at the same time. Hollywood has become quite a sad state of affairs.
Hey, just as a part-time film composer myself and a huge fan of Hand Zimmer, let's get you two into a couple sets of decent headphones. At the very least, a set of air-pods each. The music and sound design is just too darn good to listen on a single earbud. Love your reactions so far though! Great channel!
Fun tidbit. Dr Mann's first name is Hugh. He explains to the team the reason for Plan A was because people would choose self-preservation over saving the species, to which we eventually learn is exactly what he, the "best of us," did (despite his proclamations that he was only intending to "complete the mission.")
TARS is not just a robot its an super intelligent AI and the mission was successful cause of it, TARS got them to Jupiter, saved Brand, did the spin/sync to dock to the Endurance after Dr Mann destroyed it, collected the quantum data of the black hole to solve the relativity/gravity problem.
All at the direction/command of Cooper. TARS is a super intelligent Assistant AI.....robot. A tool. Autopilot computers can guide them to Jupiter. It's all programmed. TARS may have helped maintain systems and monitor the sleep pods (If he wasn't in standby mode being saved for the mission). Those systems are also automated. Doyle told TARS to save Brand. TARS would have stood there holding the debris without instruction. Probably would not have considered saving Brand based on risk and survival factors, success of the mission, etc. (ala, iRobot). Cooper came up with the idea AND did the heavy lifting of the spin/sync piloting to save the Endurance, despite TARS skepticism and advice. TARS assisted in the docking, again at Cooper's direction. Romilly came up with the idea of sending TARS into the Blackhole and told him what to look for. There was no guarantee that it was going to work. And it certainly wouldn't have unless Cooper was able to make contact with it and tell him what to do with the data to get it to Murf. Not diminishing the help of the Robots. TARS and CASE are super helpful tools that absolutely helped make the mission a success. Just like all the other computers in the ship, the ship itself, the tools, spacesuits, etc. But in the end, it took Human ingenuity and intuition to use them properly. And as TARs said, "As a Robot I have to do what ever you say." Just sayin.....
You should check out True Grit. It's a western, but it's one of the best westerns ever made. Not the John Wayne version, the Jeff Bridges version. Matt Damon is also in this movie.
“Need to get past this sad feeling” ohohohoHO sister! This is I N T E R S T E L L A R You do NOT get to do that, you aren’t even allowed to BREATHE until the last 5 minutes of the film!
"The sound design is really good" You said that but you guys are sharing a pair of AirPods. You can't even hear proper stereo or the rumbling of the bass. Get 2 pairs of AirPods Pro 2 - you will hear spatial audio like in the cinema and you can turn "Transparency" mode on, so you can still hear each other.
Your reactions are interesting, you called the movie, insane and bananas, and I’ve really seen other reactors. Say those things about it…. Most say it’s a masterpiece… eye of the beholder I guess
As great as this movie is, one thing annoys me every time I watch it. On Miller’s planet, the way Doyle seems to stand and watch what’s going on, when he should have been rushing to get back to the rover. He had plenty of time to get back and climb onboard before Case and Brand got back, but he didn’t. It seems like they did that purely as a way to end his plot line.
I think the robot design was probably an homage to Kubrik's 2001 sadly it does come across as goofy and more significantly, one of the worst and impractical designs for a robot, nothing anyone with the intelligence to be a robotics engineer would design, unless they were exceptionally hung over that day.
There are so many 'nods' to 2001. Kubrik's FX team didn't have the tech to make Saturn 'believable' (as it was in the book) and was forced to change it to Jupiter.
Him grabbing her hand is the worst part of the movie. Made zero sense! Zero! They [5th dimension] rewound time, so he could shake hands, (Then , fast forward time, and then wash up later at the edge of Saturn.
“Because my dad promised me” 😭 that line always gets me

“Goofy robot”…
Yeah, until you come to realize he’s the freakin’ COOLEST designed thing EVER!!

Easily the most accurate depiction of interstellar space in a movie and easily one of the greatest movies ever made.
Still overlooked in my opinion for some reason beyond me. For me, after 2001 this is the best space sci fi movie ever. It is beyond me how Zimmer did not win the Oscar for the ost, way better the his Dune one, imo.
so true
The Prestige is another great Christopher Nolan movie. Hugh Jackman , Christian Bale and Scarlett Johansen to name a few of the actors in it. Def worth checking out.
You can watch this in theaters now for the 10 year anniversary re-release Nov 2024. Its hard to find tickets though.
It is funny to note, the re-release of Interstellar made more money than some other new releases at the same time.

Thank for the re-upload, Sam and Tristan! 🚀
Got to watch this for the first time on the IMAX 70mm re-release and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!

Plus Chad lvls of a smart ass!
