Nice review. I ride a fat tire bike, but when I was in Florida on vacation, I rented a pace 500 and loved it. I rode about 32 miles around the panhandle. Loved how quiet and quick the bike was. I do like this upgraded bike. Also, looking at the Velotric.
Awesome... It's so funny I like something different about all my Aventon bikes. It's definitely a lighter bike. Feel free to use one of my affiliate links if you like. :)
And now that the 500.3 is out That may Help to make up your mind.
Great Review. I'm looking for a good ebike and I figured that I'd start with Aventon.
Good choice, they make a great product. Please feel free to use my link in the description:)
Thanks very much Mike … this is exactly the info I was looking for as I have my heart set on the Level 2 but then I prefer the handlebars on the Pace! Darn. Can I get them switched?????
I'm sure you could probably switch the neck but something you probably want to check with Aventon support first. They're both very nice bikes So I get it's a hard decision. I think I would just ask myself if I'm looking for more of a laid back cruiser style bike the pace would probably be my choice then. Also keep in mind now the pace 500.3 is out which now has a a torque sensor as well. Please feel free to use one of my affiliate links when you decide. :):)
Hi Mike. New subscriber.
Thanks for your review of these two bikes. They are two of the three that are on my short list of bikes to get for my wife and I. I am leaning towards the Level 2, mainly because of the torque sensor. However, I am somewhat concerned by the riding position. The Pace not only has handlebars that bend back a bit, but also has an adjustable stem. If that stem was on the Level 2, I would probably get two of them. We are both in our mid 70's and would much prefer a more upright position.
Hi Dave Thank you for subscribing. I know what you mean about the riding position but probably goes a little more hand in hand with the torque sensor concept. I imagine you could get different style neck or handovers but this would just add expense. I find myself being able to get the exercise I want by adjusting pedal assist levels or even sometimes turning off the motor and pedaling straightaways. Hope the video can help assist in your decision.

Further to my earlier comment, my wife and I went to look at and ride these 2 Aventon bikes yesterday. They didn't have a Pace 500, but we got to ride a 350. I liked both bikes a lot, but couldn't justify the price differential. The torque sensor on the Level 2 is great, but the 350 rode very nice as well. We ended leaving there with 2 350's in the back of my truck. Another significant advantage to the 350 is its light weight coming in at just over 40 lbs without the battery. I can still transport both bikes on my current rack.
@@daveweir6407 That makes sense congratulations enjoy them I'm sure you'll have a blast.
great video..thanks. Are the handlebars interchangeable? I'm 62 male, 5'8" 275lbs. Any suggestions? I am leaning towards the Level 2.
Are you leaning toward the level two because It has a torque sensor? If so it sounds like you may like the new Aventure.2 that was Just released last week.
If interested and it works for you feel free to use my links in the description. :)
Great review Mike. As it turns out though, the Level 2 weighs in at 59lbs vs the Pace 500 at 52lbs. Although if you add a rack and fenders, it would probably be closer to 56lbs.
Thanks Gary, strange I got the weight from the Aventon website. I just went back and confirmed. I also thought the level would be heavier. Where did see the 59 lbs?
What size were these bikes? Small, med, or large.
I’m shopping these two bikes. I’m liking the cruiser style handle bars on the 500. But, I’m 6 ft 4 in 250lbs and think I’ll need all the seat stem deployed to fit me?
I would check one out at a bike shop if you can first
Pace 500 v3 is gonna need a torque sensor, which should increase range and make it more smooth. My Pace 500v1 comes on strong with the assist. My mid drive E-Bike is a lot more like a regular bike, but not as fast. Aventon is good quality stuff, glad I spent a little extra to get it over others so far.
It now has one :):)
Good comparison video, a riding comparison would be good too
Thanks DearSX, I do have a riding video for each ebike on the channel.
@@mikerochester Thanks, I will look into it.
@@DearSX No problem Thanks for watching :)
@@DearSX No problem Thanks for watching :)
Another video I watched the guy said the pace 500!pedals are more forward and might be easier on some people’s knees verses more under knee pressing down is that true
I guess I don't know or didn't notice that it is a very comfortable bike to ride though
I have to agree that it's odd that Pace 500.2 and Level.2 are both speced out at 52-53 lbs. It's interesting to me that various websites list the weight dramatically differently for the Level.2 I have seen specs calling it as much as 62 lbs and as low as 53lbs. Has anyone actually weighed one out to know what the actual weight is ? It feels a good ten pounds heavier than the Pace in the store
Good point, I have not put it on a scale. I have to see if I have one that's able to weigh me with the bike.
@@mikerochester I just got a reply directly from the Aventon "Bot" The company states that the Level.2 weighs 62 lbs. Interesting given what is on their spec sheet ! Thanks for your video
@@DMillervideo I would have to wonder if that's without the battery.
The Level 2 is actually between 61 and 62 lbs
Definitely some conflicting numbers
Good video but the Level 2 doesn’t have pedal assist. It comes with torque assist. Furthermore, who in the bloody hell built the Level 2? All the cables are supposed to run UNDER the bars, not over. Fix this
Ill have to look into this mine has pedal assist 1-5....i wonder if they did a refresh after the new Level.2 was released or if mine was a demo. Also thanks for the heads up on the wires I definitely wouldn't have noticed this till the spring when I pull that bike out of storage. Would have drove me crazy so I already fixed it.
