    Very nice review. My wife and I just bought two 500’s and they are a delight. We have ridden further in one month on these bikes than in the last 2-3 years total on our standard bikes.

    Great review that is to the point and hits all the key points. Great features and great performance. Wondering if you have had a chance to ride and review a Rad Power RadCity 5 plus? I am shopping for an E-bike and have narrowed down to these 2. The price point on this Pace 500 is hard to ignore with all you get. Thanks and keep up the great work!

    Trying to loose LOTS of weight, but around 220lbs right now (Goal 160). Flat level riding on well packed trails, etc. No off road adventures in mind. (not yet). One, will this bike kill my back and butt? Would a Adventure be a far superior ride, regardless ? Seems like it even goes further and is better setup for short fat guy, LOL. Thanks.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn’t say the Aventure is far superior, it is a different kind of ride with the fat tires and suspension. If you haven’t ridden in a while your butt may hurt regardless of bike, but they both have an upright seated position so you won’t be leaning forward, less strain on shoulders/back. Making sure you have a good posture while riding will help your back as well. The fat tires and front suspension of the Aventure give it a more plush ride. Either way, whichever bike excites you the most to get out and ride will be the best one!

    I just ordered the Aventon Pace 500 and one thing that I find to be a necessity, especially when riding on the street, is a mirror, basically to see cars/vehicles approaching behind me. And on my current bike I have a "Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror", which required me to open up the end of the bike grip to attach the mirror inside of the handlebar. So will I be able to put this type of mirror to my Pace 500, and if not, can you recommend a brand of mirror to purchase?
    Also, I currently have an "Inno Tire Hold 2 Bike Platform Rack Hitch" which has a carrier bike weight limit of approximately 48lbs per bike, so the Aventon website says the weight of the Pace 500 is 52lbs, so I'm assuming that when I remove the battery from the bike, the bike will be light enough to put on my rack. Do you know how much the Aventon Pace 500 weighs w/o the battery?

    • @flynlow4ever
      @flynlow4ever Рік тому

      I’ve seen your post elsewhere while researching this bike and thought I’d share my opinion if you haven’t found your answers.
      I’ve used Mirrcycle mirrors for quite a while and they are my favorite! Bar end mirrors definitely offer better visibility without your arms or body interfering like bar mounted ones can. They also articulate well for doorways or other narrow areas and can simply be adjusted back again.
      As for bike carriers, I’d look for something substantial to put something so expensive on. I’d look for capacity well above the actual weight, especially on the back of a vehicle where weight is amplified by speed bumps, dips, potholes, etc… You sure don’t want your rack breaking and see your bike tumbling down the road!
      I put mine in the back of my pickup. If I had a SUV or car with a hitch, I’d go with a cargo platform style. They can be rated for 500lbs and bought for as low as $100. Throw on some eye bolts for a the ratchet straps and the bike isn’t going anywhere.
      Hopefully I helped you some.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  Рік тому

      That's great input. We don't tend to ride with mirrors, from decades of cycling around town, to riding across the country, we've found the classic look over the shoulder to be our go to. However, we've been riding with the garmin edge and garmin varia radar and it has been absolutely amazing having it notify you if there is a vehicle behind you, how many, and how close they are.

    Nice review.
    But, a smartphone is required to upgrade this bike to Class 3? Other logging functionality also requires a smartphone? RAM is dirt cheap, seems sensible to have a little onboard for downloading to a PC, maybe housed in the battery pack for easy access (while charging, for example).
    Brake lights steady on when the lights are on, no braking indication?
    Buying one any time soon is out of my budget, just learning and curious.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal

    What is the noise level of the motor when you're sprinting compare to Core5 Ride 1 up ebike. Or just let us know the decibel from the sound meter of your cellphone. Thanks for added information.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  Рік тому

      There are a few factors to do this properly, a phones db meter is not a very accurate way to accomplish this. Additionally, which power assist level would you be interested in knowing? With more load on a motor there will be more noise from both the motor and road/wind noise.

    I like this review...It answered a lot of my questions, and I was on the fence as to whether I wanted to purchase the Aventon Pace 500 or the Aventon Soltera, and based on your review I've decide to purchase the Pace 500. Also, I'm considering purchasing the Aventon Suspension Seatpost for bump-absorbing comfort, but it's $114.99, which seems expensive for just a seat post. So in your opinion, is it worth it??? You commented on how smooth the ride is, so do you think buying a Suspension Seatpost is needed or worth it at that price???

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  Рік тому

      I would say depends on how bumpy the roads are where you ride and how comfortable you feel currently. The seat is pretty soft and if you don’t run too high of tire pressure you should be fine.

  • @mrbubetube
    @mrbubetube Рік тому

    why do they disable the class 3 setting before shipping it to you, and then require you to buy a $500 smartphone, download their app, create an account, and then log into their computer just to enable the top speed setting? SCREW THAT! I'm not paying for that bullshit. the previous version pace 500 had all class 1,2, and 3 settings readily available from the display control, as it should be.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  Рік тому

      Our thoughts are that it has to do with regulations since class 3 isn’t legal everywhere. At least it can be clad 3 and you don’t personally need the smartphone. Just access to one.

    • @mrbubetube
      @mrbubetube Рік тому

      @@ElectricBikeJournal Ya, I think it's great that Aventon can now help enforce regulations on their ebikes. The good part about this new feature is they can now deny you permission on the class 3 setting if class 3 is illegal in your state. Hopefully in the future, they will improve on these new features to keep more centralized control and tracking of all ebikes for everyone's safety.

      hey!! im 5'1 and i own the step-over pace 500 v2 (in R size) and while i struggle a little bit with the sheer weight of an ebike and stepping over, it is an overall manageable bike at my height! you might want to look at the step-through models if comfortable mount and dismount is a concern. i simply prefer the step over since i can more easily lock it to things.
