ALSO bear in mind I edited the first half before I found out I was rejected sooo… that’s why the text in the first part seems pretty ignorant of my impending demise 😋
don’t feel too discouraged, and the fact you’ve got a durham offer is really good! cambridge is super super competitive and you might want to consider rejection as redirection if it helps, take it as an opportunity to improve for whatever you choose to do next! you seem smart and well-tempered (even if it is ‘just coping’), so i’m sure whatever you do in the future will be great
Awwww thank you !! Honestly im super grateful for my offer from Durham and im glad that this rejection is redirection as it opens me up to so many more opportunities in terms of unis I want to go to
This really paralleled my experience with Cambridge for undergrad. I got rejected post interview for Jesus college and while I felt quite dejected in that moment I ended up attending trinity college Dublin for my undergrad to study history and geography which was much more important to me. Long story short though I’ve been accepted to Cambridge for my MPhil in Geography. So there’s always another chance down the road if you you’re set on it and you’ll have a brilliant time in Durham I’m sure.
omg that’s amazing!! congrats on the acceptance. but yeah - if I do want to keep on learning about geography then maybe I’ll apply for a masters but who is to say hahaha thank you for commenting :) hope you had a great time at trinity college ☺️
Random recommend vid, but hers my thoughts. Immediate thoughts to seeing "I Got Rejected From Cambridge" was, congrats in getting accepted to Durham! The home of the Oxbridge rejects! ...and then you said you had been accepted to Durham, amused me :') Heres something, you're young, and you may not realise that Oxbridge is just not nearly as important as you may think. It really is not a mark against you. My Brother got into Oxford (under my direction) and hated it. He did one year moved to Edinburgh and loved it. He now has an excellent career, and a doctorate. My friends daughter, chose not to go to Cambridge to study engineering, and iirc went to south Hampton (much to the contestation to her school Which prided itself on its Oxbridge turnover). She is now an F1 engineer. At the end of the day, its you, with luck and talent alongside commitment, regardless of the Uni in question that decides your destiny, regardless of the prestige of the Uni in question. Closing points, don't stress, and enjoy any Uni you end up going too. You will likely make great, life long friends, have experiences, and earn an education regardless of where you study.
Heyyy! It’s always nice to meet another person who didn’t get in. I’ve seen far too many acceptances than rejections smh so it’s super nice of you to comment
