    In this video, we look at a simple gesture that can reveal that certain movements, which should be well within our range of motion, are borderline impossible. Get a stick and try it yourself.
    Features images made by Jeando Masoero.
    I offer lessons in the Initial Alexander Technique, which are conducted one-on-one with a teacher over Zoom. They are designed to help you gain conscious control over how you move your body. Most people have no idea what they’re doing with their body, and as they misuse their body, they end up with discomfort, pain, and other issues that they may not even realize are caused by what they’re doing to themselves. But how do you figure out what you’re doing wrong? And how do you change what you're doing and overcome lifelong habits?
    In an Initial Alexander Technique lesson, you will record yourself through Zoom, so you will be able to see and understand what you are doing when you stand, sit, walk, and perform other simple gestures. With the assistance of your teacher, you will come to understand how you are misusing the mechanisms of your body, and you will gain the ability to choose to use yourself in a more sensible way. You can learn how to use your body without pain. You can break free from long held habits. All you need is a system that works.

    "If I was ever to succeed in making the changes in use I desired, I must subject the processes directing my use to a new experience-the experience, that is, of being dominated by reasoning instead of by feeling, particularly at the critical moment when the giving of directions merged into “doing” for the gaining of the end I had decided upon."

    I used to think that you were wrong because the pictures of you showing good posture, looked more like bad posture but after learning and researching about singing, I've learned that the ideal posture for singing and allowing the breath to expand the back is similar to the one you described. Marnell Sample himself recommends slightly rounded shoulders, slight posterior pelvic tilt, etc... for allowing the breath to expand the back.

      Fascinating. I also have experienced the same thing, and I am not even a good singer . I did notice a significant improvement in my vocal ability just by shifting my posture.

    I saw your video about mewing, and it makes sense lots to me in my close to 10 years mewing experience.
    I found out that improving your physical condition can help as well.
    Simply training daily, keeping in mind the techniques you know, should show you how much better you can do.
    In my case mewing helped me realize that, and I gained muscle and weight at home without the need of a gym. I would eventually make content about my own methods, but as you know with mewing results take time.
    I could put it simply this way, muscle is also contributes to posture or helps you have achieve it so to say.
    I do train daily because of that and I feel better than ever, no back issues, no knee issues, no nothing pretty much. I plan to keep doing the same for much much longer.

      That’s interesting. I would like to see how anyone who says this was easy performed the gesture. If you'd like to make a video and send it to me, I would appreciate it. I’ve presented this idea to many different people, active and inactive, and I’ve never had anyone who easily made the gesture. I don’t think I’ve had one who did not lift the elbow massively on first attempt.

      @tomdean829 2 місяці тому +3

      Did you warn them ahead of time to not raise their elbow? I agree that raising the elbow a lot makes it EASIER. But it is still very easy to do it without raising the elbow significantly (well below the armpit).

      I give one on one lessons through Zoom that are currently priced at $35 for a 45 min session. The premise of the lessons is to help the student develop the skill to guide themselves through gestures using verbal directions. Once the student is proficient at using a conscious system to guide and control their movements, they can apply the system to any activities that they engage in - from the everyday (walking, sittings, bending down) to the complex (playing an instrument, playing a sport, public speaking).

      Some of their ideas are interesting and some even match up with the ideas I support. However, I think their model is a bit off, and so they don’t really get the fascia working as it should. Their methods of intervention are also often subconscious, which in my view, is a serious limitation.

    Bro i was watching some of your videos and I had finally been able to get my neck free and let my head go forward and up, but i got some issues.
    When i do so my mandible slightly opens by itself and when i close it, the muscle under my chin gets so bulgy and tight but at the same time I feel immense pulling forces on the maxilla. And this is so hard to maintain.
    And I'm not sure if this is good or not.
    So i wanted to ask you if this is the right way or not and if this could cause damage to the muscle under the chin(it is strongest near the tip of the chin)
    UA-cam deleted my other comment don't know why

    • @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147
      @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147  3 місяці тому +1

      One of the limitations of teaching through videos like this is that I don’t know if you’re doing things correctly or not. There can certainly be uncomfortable feelings, including under the chin as you describe, but it could also be that you’re not doing something correctly. I would doubt that you’re doing damage unless you’re doing something quite extreme and in some way wrong.

      @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147
      Yeah, that's understandable. Let me try and describe my situation to you so you can better find the problem.
      Well,let's say when i move the mandibular angle and the chin upward, the teeth of my lower jaw slides back a bit(mouth still closed). Is that good?
      And when i force it close, my masseter muscles gets activated and the muscle under my gets even more tight.
      I'm 18 and recently suffered from tmd because of excessive hard mewing (i already completely stopped mewing now)
      This has gotten me a dislocated jaw and now i have very limited opening of my mouth ( of about 2 fingers) . Is this fixable through this sysytem of conscious guidance?

    Are there effective solutions for hunched back (kyphosis) ?

    • @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147
      @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147  3 місяці тому +1

      Certainly. Kyphosis is not just a problem specific to the location of the upper back, it’s a whole body problem. Lengthening and widening the back will require that you come out of kyphosis and also correct the issues in the pelvis and rest of the body that are contributing to the problem.

    • @monnoo8221
      @monnoo8221 2 місяці тому

      start with body awareness ogether with a good coach.
      kyphosis is a result of a lazy disconnected brain. Rebuilding the wiring is needed which will take you some time (3y+). The muscular architecture of the back is anyway more on the complicated side, but for a developed kyphosis there are many layers to be considered. The roots of that condtion are deep in childhood

    I watched your video on mewing and I used to mew and now if i dont i get a little bit of a double chin, is it fine to just rest the tip of the tongue on the palate (without suction) or should tongue touching the palate be avoided completely?

    • @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147
      @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147  2 місяці тому

      In my view, it’s better to address the bit of double chin issue by addressing the whole body, especially the torso, so that the head can be brought to its correct relative position.

    Is it possible to grow taller by jumping like Maasai tribe and creating micro fractures which will then heal? or is it all just tiktok trends trying to get views? and can i fix asymmetrical face (one side of the jaw is bigger)

    • @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147
      @delsartealexandermasoeroyo9147  2 місяці тому

      It might be possible, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t advise trying that without some real proper guidance. Most modern people can gain some height by just stopping the habitual leaning and bending that they do. Asymmetry of the face and who body can be eradicated. Typically it’s not that the jaw is bigger on one side, it’s that the habitual incorrect use of the jaw and body generally had made the body twisted.
