I have the Eskimo. With the 8" it blows through the ice faster than my friends easily. With the 10" it is equal or just behind. But...no gas , no fuss, no muss. It just works , and no leaning on it. Love that it just pulls through the ice on its own and never bogs.
For fun I use a Nils 8" and can drill a hole as fast as most of them , but takes a little effort 😆

The Ion is an awesome unit. I’ve just picked up a Strikemaster Lite Flite to use with my Milwaukee Drill and can’t wait to use it. No more gas at all!

I'd take gas if I was way up north like Canada, but now days electric is king. You can drill it in your ice shelter without harmful effects, start up is not an issue and extremely quiet, but good old gas has more torque better for deep ice

Interesting test for some of those older augers but why no Strikemaster Lithium 40V Lazer Augers? or a, Cordless Drill/Strikemaster Lite-Flite/Eskimo Pistol Bit Setup in this test here?🤔🤷‍♂️😂.....As it would have been cool to see that for a, 7 Auger Race to really see a good test here

With sharp blades the results would be very different.

In actuality with the exception of the 3HP Jiffy (less sharp blades), the 2HP Jiffy (hand sharpened) all were essentially "out of the box" sharp and I as surprised that the Eskimo seemed to have less bite when drilling.

Would have been cool to have even more out on the Ice but these are what's in our arsenal of drilling rigs.

Buddy has been using it for the past 3 winters and it’s been easy to start, reliable and cuts easily.

Ion started later than the others.

Lame test, gas blows away the electric any time. No way the jifgys don’t beat theelectric.

Just an attempt at a comparison; completed more and the Ion was the quickest on every drill. To each there own in making a decision in what works

Do the same test over without half bearing down on them like... the electric for sure the Rapala and a little on the eskimo...

@@mikescoleri9393 no weight in the units. The Ion hands down cuts fastest.
Since then, I’ve went with the Strikemaster Lite Flite using my Milwaukee 18V and it’s unbelievable. By far the easiest, smoothest and fastest auger I’ve ever run. Haven’t done a review yet but you can see it in my end of 2023 on ice trip.

It sure how can those old jiffy’s junk, they don’t cut as fast but they are extremely reliable.
I use an ion and an old jiffy 30 as backup.
