I just sold my strikemaster 24v and ordered one of these, got the 8” composite bit version. I had some issues with that 24v auger, Worth it to me for the 5 year warranty alone with the eskimo
@@simonricher5799 I didn’t like how it would sometimes catch hard at the bottom of a hole, and no matter how hard I cranked down on that bolt that connects the bit to the head, I had to retighten it every other trip. Anything under 30 defeees and I had to keep the battery warm and carry it around in my pocket, an hour outside and it would not cut or drain very quick. Those were minor things, what made me look at selling it was on season 2 it started randomly cutting out and beeping halfway through a hole. And this was on 5” of ice, so not overheating it. I’d have to take out and put back on the battery to finish a hole, it was random but happened about every 8-10 holes. Tried a new battery and same problem, Strikemaster didn’t want to do any troubleshooting, and told me to get with a service center. The local service center serviced gas engines. Strikemaster couldn’t help any further, so I was stuck
They're basically the same. Or atleast have the same parent company. Look how they designed this eskimo and the alpha. Im even seeing some of the same parts
It’s cool and all but that quick connect once it hits the ice hard enough you’ll probably lose the auger. If you’re not careful maybe not though it just looks like something that might hit on the ice.
New update… we have 6” of safe ice and so far I really like it… got a full battery ran through it and you almost have to pull up when you run it. Hope it stays like this
I just looked up prices for this one, the Ions, and the strikemaster electric augers. Wasnt this model supposed to be the "affordable" model?? It costs more than every competing auger. The quick disconnect is something 98% of ice fishermen didnt ask for. At the price point, this seems to be the worst electric auger one can buy. Maybe thats why they gave content creators free augers to try to sell them.
Little early but the Marcun is charged and ready. Beaver in just about a month. 😊
A great video, love these new electric augers but man they are expensive !
They are definitely spendy!!
I think you sold me on it with the simple detachment, wow!
I love it . I'm hoping to see some ice this year so I can go ice fishing.
I like the quick disconnect feature, but bought a 40v strikemaster 10’ 3 yrs ago. Might have to upgrade can’t beat the weight of it too
Why don’t auger manufacturers make electric augers that use Milwaukee or DeWalt batteries that we all have !
Because they make more money duh!!!!
They would have to pay for licensing as it's proprietary to the company
It's called a k-bit
Trademark and copyright issues. Why doesn't Milwaukee make an ice auger?
Ion battery are interchangeable with Ego so if you have any Ego equipment you have a small win

Do you like the Eskimo or the ion alpha better??

Nice ! Man I can't wait to get on some hardwater !!!!!!!!!!!!
do they have an extension for really thick ice
Yes they do. I have an 18" one

dont forge the company gets an extra $100+ for every shaft you buy to use in this quick disconnect. Thats why its there....
The quick disconnect is nice, but what happens when you need to add an extension?
Special extension with a disconnect clip in it?
Its a "feature" that allows the corporation to sell you additional parts at $100+ a pop.
I'm not going to lie... i got this e40 a few days ago, and man it feels sluggish compared to my strikemaster 24v....
Where are you at that you have enough ice to tell the difference? youd need at least 10 to 12 inches.
Is that a composite or steel auger?
Composite
Will my pistol bit fit this so i can get a 10" and then have 2 auger sizes?
I'm not sure about that. You'd have to contact Eskimo
Reverse to flush out hole?
It has reverse but it's much easier to pull the auger out and hit the trigger
I have a eskimo 8" pistol auger and Im looking for just the motor
How long in the last season did you get to run it?
I only ram it for one day. I have one this year though to test
Update bought one at scheels ice fest… price was too good to pass up
@@kevinotteson4858 What was the price you got it for at the ice fest? What was the promotion? Thanks
It was originally $599… $100 off so $499 free battery and a $75 gift card after purchase

Way to early to be thinking about that kind of stuff or ice fishing. It's only the beginning of September for Pete's sake.
They just released the auger is why we're seeing this
So.... Eskimo is making an electric auger .. this will be interesting sents Eskimo and Ion are made by the same manufacturer !!!
Speak for yourself, some of us will be on the ice at the end of November!
I'll be on the ice before then
I hear ya there. Both Augers have their strong points for sure. In my eyes pick the one that best suites you.
👍🏻😎🇺🇸
