- An attempt at the sublime live version of ‘Mr Pink’ taken from one of the three gigs that made up the live album recording of ‘A Physical Presence’, from 1985. The three gigs can be found on YT to listen to in full I believe. GREAT fun to play! Played on my 2023 Jaydee Supernatural Series 1 Classic Bass.

How do you learn these songs? Do you learn by ear?
How do you record? Do you play over the original take with lowered or removed bass or something?
How long do you typically spend learning a song like this?

Hey! Thanks for watching and your question 😄 I’ve been playing by ear for a long time now, I don’t read music. However, when I record these, way before the record button is pressed, I really do try to replicate EVERY note, nuance and feel by making sure what I play is as close to what you hear on the record… and that is something that I never used to do.. check out my videos over the years and you’ll see and hear what I mean. The DAW I use is Logic Pro X, and I plug into my interface which is an ‘Audient mkII id14’ and record into Logic with that. I then mix what I have recorded over the original track, changing EQ, adding a little reverb and chorus effects… that’s it! 👊 (please sub! 😁😆👍)
