"A Night to Remember." Almost had me believed you've struck a huge ocean liner full of troops😅 At least it good to see those Vals (Aichi D3A) back in action in War on the Sea, E13👌
IKR?! I was grimacing a bit at the reference, since it would have been a bit distasteful, IMHO, but... it didn't keep me from binge-watching the entire episode in one eager, if slightly guilty, sitting. 😅
One of the odd design choices for this game is the crew's eyes. The fact that their eyes are always pointing at you is a little creepy. I get why they did it, it's probably better than having them all standing there dead eyed. Makes them seem a little more alive, so to speak. On the other hand, if my entire crew was giving me the side eye like that I think I would be more than a little worried about what they were thinking at that point. Probably not sleeping much and wondering who was going to stab me first, lol... Holy Jeabus, flak gunners were something else. taking down a four-engine bomber while getting blinded by a ley light is more than a little impressive. Especially with only one reload, lol. Those guys will never pay for a drink again.

Care to lend me your AA men? Whenever I get caught on the surface my Uboat ends up damaged. They earned those medals!
OMG that opening shot with the moon in the back and the prow of the U-boat slicing through calm waters.. :-o. Downright awesomely cinematic! What a wallpaper that'd (e.g. 1:13) make in high res!!!
Not that your other series aren't well done, but this is the series I'm looking forward the most each week. My weekly dose of cinematic submarine episodes. Edit : too bad you couldn't get more interesting prey this episode, and it's difficult topursue convoys under the surface, but that's why it's a realistic sub simulator. Sometimes you need to put your sub first, your tonnage sunk score second.
Really, I just want to see you do another SH3 playthrough in the Atlantic. While your old Type ix career is great, i want to see you do another one with your great storytelling improvements.
I'd like to see Wolfpack try an SH3 campaign on a separate install using the "Surface Mod 2.7" mod - playing as either the pocket battleship) Admiral Scheer, or as the merchant raider Penguin, in 1939. (Both ships have both guns and torpedoes).
I've been watching your Seawolf vs. China series from a couple of years ago and find the level of difficult of your Mediterranean deployment off the charts, Wolfpack. Hope you can survive long enough to see the end of the war.
Since Wolfpack345 plays Ironman campaign, if sunk he should leave dead time afterwards, so the calamity isn't spoiled by the remaining time & length of the video.
Good decisions by the captain. One ship sunk and one plane shot down. Contrary to appearances, a lot was happening and there was tension until the very end.
“A Night to Remember” is a song by the Eurodance group U96. I hope your title is a cheeky reference and not a coincidence 😊 (and of course, U-75 is not U-96, but U96 (the group) is named after the submarine U-96). They also do not use a ‘-‘ (hyphen) in their name.
Do not feel bad about chasing that convoy for half the night, just to find out it was Italian 😮 There is an expression; Sh*t happens. 😅 Great video Wolfpack, thank you very much. 😊
24:45 I dunno. It's kinda strange and stands out to me that there would be 4 escort destroyers guarding/escorting one merchant ship. Maybe something or someone important on board?
Great video as always, for a bit better immersion please tell also where this convoys (could) going. This paint a bigger picture at the specific time of the war.
Why amazing? Summer 1942 was a very much Axis time for the central Mediterranean. Tunisia. Libya and western Egypt are in Axis hands, and only Malta was holding out. Of course you would see Axis convoys moving supplies not only along coasts but also across the Med.
Generally love your work, though caught myself almost verbally saying "Stop talking yourself outta the shot and SHOOT". ;) Ah well. Would've been a unique entry in the kill log.
AIRPLANE SURVIVORS? -- I've always wondered if there are any survivors when an airplane goes down? Every ship sinking always seems to have survivors. Next time you shoot down and aircraft, run the camera over there, look for parachutes in the air, then do a thorough check in the water in the area. Here, it would have been fun to have picked up some British flyboys, and then turned them over to the Italian convoy you intercepted. Talk about timing! Otherwise, it would have been a good excuse to visit a port on the southern coast of Sicily and drop them off. I wonder if the game has any such features, like handing over prisoners to Allies on their ship or in port -- built into the game? Maybe when you finish the patrol, sink your last ship and are heading back, you can pick up some prisoners from the water, and take them back to Las Spezia! (And check out the game engine!)
Is this being played with the GWX OneAlex mod? If yes, how did you install it? The mod works fine except for the resolution, it's all messed up and if I try to fix it or change the D3D9.ini file to another resolution that isn't my current one it just crashes with the "Can't intialize 3D Engine"
4 engine land based, with a Leigh Light. As only Wellingtons, Catalinas and Liberators were equipped with them and Wellingtons and Catalinas were 2-engine aircraft (and Catalinas famously were flying boats), ... you connect the dots.
Looked like a Short Sunderland (it was a single tail aircraft so it couldn't have been a Liberator... Well, unless it was a time-traveling experimental XB-24N or the PB4Y-2 Privateer derivative.)
Why don't you take shots at 2 escorts, especially as close as you are? If you get lucky and get both, perfect. If you get one OK, evens the odds a bit. If you miss both run like hell. Personally, I believe you're good enough to get them both before they realize what is happening.
As soon as I saw that first group of ships heading NW, I suspected they were Italian. British merchant ships would never sail parallel to the coast of Sicily like that - they would want to be as far away from Italian airfields as possible. Sorry you wasted your time and fuel chasing them.
Also, I would not have sailed close to them - in SH3, there is no such thing as friendly fire - but in real life, nervous Italian gunners would likely assume that any submarine on the surface near them was probably British, and open fire!
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 : Don’t be too sure. The Italian navy sank at least 18 British submarines in WW2, not counting ones sunk by Italian mines or Italian aircraft.
"can take out" does not mean "will take out", and you know how the Brits dealt with the flak U-boats: Using group tactics, attacking from several directions at once. Try shooting down 10 planes converging on you from different directions and arriving above you at about the same time ... height separated, of course.
Those flak gunners are getting their drinks covered by the rest of the crew for a while after that save!
A fortuitous first encounter with a lay-light equipped aircraft.
Spoilers!!!!
That night bomber crashing into the sea was awesome
Yes it was! It crashed pretty close though - scary stuff for the bridge crew
Damn! Using that little thing to escort their ships? The British must be desperate!
Sir, it's Italian.
Oh...
XD
Holy ****! Those two gunners are definitely getting medals. They must have gotten lucky shots killing the pilot and co-pilots.
That was my thought as well - no fire on the aircraft, engines still running at full power
HURRAH, MORE SILENT HUNTER!!! Been yearning for more episodes of this amazing series, keep them coming Wolf.
This!

SH3 series are my favourite on your channel, but choosing best series made by Wolfpack is like choosin fav child ;) Bro i love your storytelling!
The Hurricane fighters modified to be launched up from a freighter to attack German Condor bombers were known as “Hurricats”.
No Condors operated in the Mediterranean. Only He 111s and Ju 88s (and Italian bombers).
Or "Catafighters", apparently, at least according to Wikipedia =p

These videos are great! Keep the subs going, man. Ain’t nowhere else to get this kind of content.
Sweet, been waiting for the next drop. Great work as always Herr Wolfpack
Since the flying boat you shot down is technically a water craft, does it count towards your tonnage sunk total?
24:45 I dunno. It's kinda strange and stands out to me that there would be 4 escort destroyers guarding/escorting one merchant ship. Maybe something or someone important on board?

Amazing to find so many friendly ships in the Med. The enemy must be too scared to send out more ships into the jaws of your fearsome submarine.
