Janski Tech It mostly depends if you like iOS or Android. Also if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, it's very hard to get out of your comfort zone. Personally, I’m used to Apple since 2008. I never had any Android device / product. So obviously, I would go for the 2020 iPad Pro. Same thing as the Android users. If they like Android with large open system and many customization options, they wouldn’t go for Apple with many more restrictions.
I think this is great. I own the Tab s6 but is a super premium tablet at iPad Pro prices. The Spen support for me is the most important thing for me. So I think it's great they're releasing a cheaper tablet for people who just want to take notes in meetings.
iPad pro prices? I just bought a S6 for less than half an equivalent iPad Pro prices... (Samsung: EUR 650 including keyboard and pen, Apple: EUR 1373, oh and the Apple weighs more than 1kg my S6 only 790g)
I'd like to thank you Thao for your reviews of the Samsung Tab S6. I've since bought one and it has replaced my Surface Pro. Without your reviews I wouldn't have made the leap. So many other people complained about the keyboard but I've had the same experience as you had. It just works. Absolutely adore this computer! Thank you again for the splendid reviews!
Can you share your thoughts on why you would replace a surface pro, arguably the best windows tablet, with an android one? I own an iPad pro 9.7 but have always wanted a surface pro though I don't really need one 😅
Surface Pro: 1.2kg. EUR ~1300 (with pen and keyboard). Good support for Linux software. Extremely average battery life. Extremely poor software selection. Samsung S6 Tab: 770g. EUR 650. Okay support for Linux software. Mind blowing battery life. Great software selection. Depends entirely on your use case. My primary needs were battery, and weight. It runs everything I need (basic programming). It's slower for the programming tasks, but, that doesn't bother me really. And for other stuff, it's faster than my Surface Pro 3 (I know, old, unfair comparison, but it's what I have already). Mostly an iPad would satisfy my needs also, but, more expensive if you want a good keyboard, and no support whatsoever for Linux applications which is a deal breaker. Bought my wife an iPad 2018 for EUR 329 (~3 months ago) and she loves it. It's all about use case! What do you use the tablet for?
I have used all those apps..and I have to say..its fast, quick..the apps detect that Spen is attached when you open them...all the functions work great....some apps support palm rejection and some don't.... would suggest art flow for simple basic drawing or else go with Ibis paint x for pro features...
i wish that they could introduce a more S5e-ish tablet with an S pen :( I personally really like the Dex feature and the Amoled display. I don't mind paying a little bit more for that, as long as it's not as expensive as the Tab S6.
It seems Samsung changed direction in 2020. The S10 Lite is more cut down than the S10e, other than being bigger. The S5e is basically a premium tablet", very little was cut.
I have had the Galaxy Tab S5e and its official keyboard cover for 2 weeks now and I have to say, it is a very good tablet. The keyboard is very convenient for typing text and I added a wireless mouse to provide a computer like experience. The Amoled screen on the Tab S5e is amazing like on my Galaxy S10e. Battery life is very good. The quad speakers setup is gorgeous to watch Netflix. Dex mode is very useful especially with the keyboard. The fingerprint sensor is very accurate. I miss an S Pen a bit but we can find some alternative. All the features that are available on the Tab S5e (Amoled screen, fingerprint sensor, quad speakers, keyboard) aren't on the latest Tab S6 lite so that's why for a person like me, it is better getting the Tab S5e instead of the Tab S6 lite except if you care about the S Pen... This is a definite no go for me. Unless you really need that S-Pen and can't afford the S6, I just don't see a reason to buy. I picked up the S5e on sale and it's a nice tablet if you just need something for content consumption. Unfortunately, Samsung is awful at updating their tablets. If all you are doing is watching Netflix and UA-cam that really isn't a big deal though. At the end of the day, as much of a Samsung fan as I am, I struggle to recommend a Galaxy Tablet over an iPad. Even if you are not in the Apple Ecosystem, I just think you get so much more for you money. Just my two cents. I will say it again...you make great videos and I enjoy each one. Thank's for your hard work. Stay well.
I purchased mine for $250 which included the Samsung magnetic cover. The tablet works " as a tablet not computer " which is my intent. Krita along with the included pen is fantastic. Watch Netflix at lunch and streams well with good enough sharpness and color to be a good experience. Read my e-mail and news channels/paper and watch You Tube and read Facebook. Blue tooth ear phones is my preference. Battery life better than my apple tablet was.
Wow!!! Thanks Thao, I didn't know they were coming out with a Lite version. It's perfect for my mom that prefers a Samsung tablet over an iPad. She just uses it for Facebook, Messenger and web browsing.
Love your Samsung appreciation...they do make some pretty awesome hardware. Like you, I stick with the Pixel 4 XL for the camera because Samsung still hasn't mastered the consistency of the Pixel.
No external keyboard? Hmm, that's kind of a deal breaker for me. I were hoping for a good keyboard cast so that I could use this unit as a complement for my laptop at work. The regular S6 is a bit to expensive for me but the Lite is in a better price range. It's seems like this is a common thing among many brands sadly.
First I got so excited with the tablet as well as your expression..but things get started to be different when you said no smart keyboard no dex mode no oleds.. a clickbait for me
I'm a big S Pen fan with a small budget so I was holding my breath for the launch of this device, but the price is disappointing for the compromises. At 200 dollars I could consider this product but 349 is too high.
How strange it's predecessor is superior. AMOLED really is a must, unless it's a budget tablet. Hopefully they'll stick with a name though. E last year, Lite this year.
Could you talk about things like multi-tasking, Spen functionalities, portability, etc? From the stand point of someone who would use it for work or a student.
i preorder tha tablet paying it just 280€ thanks to a birthday coupon code from Samsung! can't wait to get my hands on it! i just wanted something to use in Uni without spending too much and that seemed perfect!
I have the s5e and it's a straight up media content beast!! Great screen, dex, headphone jack and those insane quad speakers! Picked 1 up new from eBay last month $329. If performance is more important than the s-pen? You know what to get!!!
Even if the hardware is excellent main problem in tab space is lack of proper support from android!I'm an android phone user but in terms of tab i would go with ipad
Hi, good review/comparison,, thanks. Does writing on the screen feeling like writing on glass or does the stylus have some kind of texture that helps in the writing?
Hi Thao, I am typically an apple user but also have a small Samsung Tab A I’m looking forward to upgrading. I have been eyeing the S6 Lite but you brought up the 5se as an alternative. I’d like to see more comparison between the two! In things like charging time, screen/speaker comparison, and accessories. Thanks for the video!
So far im statifsy for productivity on Tab A 8.0 with Spen. It's portability fit my waist bag. Working on construction site as QC making inspection & report on-site just become much easier
Awesome vid. This seems to be the best option for me since I want a cheap android tablet with a stylus for school, particularly marking up pdf slides as I'm in class. Any particular apps that I can use for this tablet for pdf mark up and note taking?
I actually pre ordered the blue WiFi model, for the things I want in a tablet (simple to normal usage) that includes an s-pen and the latest OS and not costs an arm and a leg like the regular Tab S6, this is the only choice. The iPad comes without apple pen which adds another 100 euro to the list if you want that.
Good intro video Thao. I think for me a detailed S5e v S6 Lite would be great as that almost seems to be it's biggest competition in the Android realm.
I will only start to look for android tablets more seriously if they tweeks their software more like ipad Os. There's just so much screen real estate that can be utilised for maximum productivity
Good brief assessment. I use the pen a lot - have had a series of the note phones and would one atablet with a pen but they are all so much more expensive. This might do the trick. Keen to see more use of the pen in a full review
Great review, Thao. You covered all the main advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, there are too many compromises for me to be interested in this tablet. This is the problem with Samsung's mid-range tablets. I think that the Apple strategy is better. Cheaper tablets can do pretty much all the things that their pro line can do, just not as well. I originally bought an S5e and liked it a lot until I found out that it has no s-pen support, and bluetooth pens worked poorly on it. I took it back and bought an iPad Air 3 for the same money, and am very happy with it. Add DeX support and a keyboard connector to the S6 lite and you have a winner. Add s-pen support to the S5e - even better.
For using as a note taking device at university, how would this compare? Pen is essential, no keyboard...is that a real problem for 'in class' (at home i have another device with keyboard)? LCD screen is not a problem as going to be using productivity apps not Netflix etc... What do you think? Aimed at the student market or lacking something key? Is DeX functionality important?
Hi 1 year late but if anyone is still wondering, Samsung has updated the system to the point that many of the functions that she mentioned are possible now such as finger prints and dex. Also if you want to connect with wired keyboard, you can do it. But needs converter. The music quality is superb. I prefer it over my speakers. The downside is that it does not have fast charging
E Flagship tablet has no headphone jack but the lite version does? I don't understand Samsung!? Nice videos Thao, I always watch your reviews before I buy anything :)
I thought I could get excited because I like new experiences on brand new items. But based on this review I will stick with my Samsung galaxy View 2. Instead of watching my TV. I'm always watching movies, UA-cam, and TV shows on my View 2. Beautiful color on my 13 inch screen. God quality sound. I love it.
I like the idea of this tablet for my kids that need to do school work from home and don't want to spend the money on a laptop like a surface. We have Samsung products at home and it syncs easily with our Windows laptop when needed. At the moment, one of my kids uses an older tablet, Note Pro 12.1, but it's been really great for writing on pdfs and submitting homework but since it's a bit old, MS word, etc doesn't really exist and battery drains quicker now. I would like to see how it fairs in productivity tasks and having to use things like skype/zoom or whatever for an 8hr day. The long battery and headphone jack seem great as Bluetooth headphones tend to not make it the full day if they're not charged the night before. It sounds like a good budget tablet for when you want to use it just to just get things done without breaking the bank.
️ EDIT - It uses an Exynos 9611 processor.

Stay well.
I think it is a decent tablet, but that pricing in canada! ouch!
AMOLED was the only leverage Samsung had in the s-line, it's a shame they removed it
The kiss, in the end, is always so refreshing!
Alright. I am happy with my S5e after watching these sacrifices.
s5e awesome
I guess you're happy with no SPen support. For me, that's a deal breaker.
Any other advice with this price range (tablet + pen) ?
That was pretty Quick. ❤️
Wow!!! Thanks Thao, I didn't know they were coming out with a Lite version. It's perfect for my mom that prefers a Samsung tablet over an iPad. She just uses it for Facebook, Messenger and web browsing.
My favorite part is "Hi Everyone! Thao here!". Then she points to her smile.
Love your Samsung appreciation...they do make some pretty awesome hardware. Like you, I stick with the Pixel 4 XL for the camera because Samsung still hasn't mastered the consistency of the Pixel.
Oh LCD. I'm out
i thought it was amoled but no :/
Yeah huge let down
Same
But there is no PWM or pentile pixels, so that is a plus.
right even the s5e has oled
Yeah its way too much for what it is. That screen really ruins it for me.
why, why, samsung made this tab when my tabs 5e is way much better.
because people like me wants a tablet with s pen for the price of 5e.
How strange it's predecessor is superior. AMOLED really is a must, unless it's a budget tablet. Hopefully they'll stick with a name though. E last year, Lite this year.
SE next year probably
@@Dave7heRave ha ha probably.
This tablet makes zero sense when the S5e exists
You cant use a stylus with the s5e, that is its only downfall.
The s-pen is a big factor
I agree with the other two comments. The s pen is a must for me
Same I would wanna use it for copying from the blackboard during lectures and stuff, for everything else I do have a very very good laptop
You are one of the best Tech reviewer Thao!!!
Keep it up
I'm planning to get the galaxy tab s5e next month but was going to get this until I watched your video seems like a downgrade to s5e in specs.
I already bought one. I was always using my phone for browsing and making shortcuts. So I think it is the right choice for now.
Please do a video for notetaking for students on this tab
I have already purchased, it's wonderful. U are so lovely
You're the only person who got one . I don't see any other videos from known UA-camrs
We want to know the note taking ability with s pen!!! And differences between s6/s7.
I'm still using galaxy tab s4 and I still love it
Thao. I love your channel. All the details you say are important
Nice overview Thao, you always manage to make talking about tech interesting for the viewer. Stay safe.
I have the s5e and it's a straight up media content beast!! Great screen, dex, headphone jack and those insane quad speakers! Picked 1 up new from eBay last month $329. If performance is more important than the s-pen? You know what to get!!!
Love you for your samsung tab reviews... THANK YOU!
Even if the hardware is excellent main problem in tab space is lack of proper support from android!I'm an android phone user but in terms of tab i would go with ipad
Thank you for your beautiful review... Going to get one now.....
I was thinking of getting it. But then I got put off by No Dex. That's the one deal breaker for me
Hi, good review/comparison,, thanks. Does writing on the screen feeling like writing on glass or does the stylus have some kind of texture that helps in the writing?
Just purchased in UK for £329 LTE version with free book cover case. An absolute steal. Would love to know specs against the tab S2.
moving onwards ,why not scrap lcd display for all new tabs ,phones ...
a downer for this model not in amoled display
Hi Thao, I am typically an apple user but also have a small Samsung Tab A I’m looking forward to upgrading. I have been eyeing the S6 Lite but you brought up the 5se as an alternative. I’d like to see more comparison between the two! In things like charging time, screen/speaker comparison, and accessories. Thanks for the video!
I have been waiting for this all the while. Please explore the s pen functionality more for your full review. Thanks
Just wanna ask does it BEND LIKE THE IPADS
So far im statifsy for productivity on Tab A 8.0 with Spen. It's portability fit my waist bag. Working on construction site as QC making inspection & report on-site just become much easier
Wow! Just found your channel... Great job! You have me excited for the full review and other future videos :)
You deserve more subscribers you are amazing keep going
How's is the performance and how well will it age? I think this is a valid question when deciding to buy this over the competition.
HEY YOU ARE SWEET! I JUST GOT MY TAB S6 AND WITH THE GALAXY NOTE 10+ I AM TOTALLY GOIN CRAZY WITH THESE SOOOO AWESOME YEAH!!!
You are my favourite tech reviewer , I have the standard s6 tab lte , love it . And Ozark rocks 👊🏼
Great review :) So much real world info in a short amount of time. Good stuff
Of course I am interested. Last time I checked the fancy pen was sold separately for the iPad.
Next review: app optimisation for tablet consumption: are apps optimised/redesigned for tablet viewing or they are just versions of phone apps?
i wish they figured out a way to cut corners except the amoled screen.
Please do comparison videos soon! I always believe in your videos when come samsung tablet.
Cant keep track about what she says about the devices as all the concentration is on her shes pretty and full of energy keep going 👍👍you are awesome
E
Flagship tablet has no headphone jack but the lite version does? I don't understand Samsung!?
Nice videos Thao, I always watch your reviews before I buy anything :)
Nice Video! I hope you review the upcoming tabs7 as well!
THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! ♥️😭
I love it.
Wow the lite has a better shaped pen than our tab s6 .... still love my tabs6
PLEASE DO A FULL REVIEW. IM MAKIMG A PURHASE DECISION SOON AND I NEED TO KNOW. Thanks for this amazing video. Keep up the great work.
Hi Thảo, great video as always. I would like to ask your thoughts on using this S6 Lite for photo/videography. Thanks in advance
