The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite makes all the right compromises when decided what to leave out from last year's Tab S6. It's great for drawing and art. In general is a good value for an android tablet.

Samsung really made a tablet that is functional and affordable for us broke university students

Or artists/illustrators.
I know right!!!
That moment when your from a 3rd world country and cheap still means expensive

Even the Tab A is expensive for me 😂
Hi Brad! I really enjoyed your review, but I got one problem about your criticism when comparing S-pen with apple pencil you said that S-pen has problem with palm rejection that it leaves marks on your drawing when your hand resting on it, and that's causing annoying problem, this, I think it is invalid criticism, because in almost every apps I tried like Artflow, Infinite Painter, and Sketchbook there's literary "PEN ONLY MODE" in the settings, this option totally ignore your hands when painting, but your fingers will still works as multitouch gestures, shortcus, etc, this option makes my experience with S-pen works flawlessly. Hope you read this, since I think you might not explored those options yet.
should I go for these?
omg thank u for your comment!

Please advise I am planning to buy a tab for editing videos and photos. Which one should I go for is it I pad 7th generation or the new Tab s6 lite.
Please advise.......
The power and price are great. I really hate the android operating system though
Im on a tight budget so I'm gonna get this one, don't really need the power of the normal s6 or the one from an ipad. I just need a tablet with a good pencil that I can afford
I'm in the same boat, currently here in tablet review hell and being a person who's never owned a Samsung device trying to decide on if I want this (ticks all my boxes!) bc it looks so good but it's so new and I'm so used to buying older models while knowing x fault could happen ;-;
Hope you enjoy your device when you get it!
This can literally replace my secondary portable laptop setup with esse. Not to mention. With same budget.
What's the price

What kills android tablets isn’t in the specs for artist it’s the apps! If procreate was in android well that’s something .
Completely agree, I've been on android for years but since I've moved to digital art, the ipad just nails it. Moved onto iOS now.
too bad procreate are exclusive apps for ios
hello has anyone tried to buy the paper like 2 for the ipad pro 11, and cut it out for the tab s6?
would you guys recommend me to do this?
because every screen protector on amazon that i have tried, that the matte finish has really bad water effect and grainy colors.
Yea.... It sucks that the creators of Procreate won’t make it available for Android...☹️😞😣😫
I think that complaint is overblown. Artflow and Infinity painter arrived close enough to pro create. I think when it comes to vector apps it’s behind, and for hand drawn animation rough animator is awesome and available on Android too. If Procreate is the only reason you choose iOS, you might be missing out. I used to have both, and if vector apps wasn’t the deciding factor I might go with Samsung, just because the Spen is that good
"It's the artist, not the tools"
Really hits me.
I don't know if I should but Samsung Tab S6 Lite or iPad 7th w/ pencil.
im not an artist lol but the ipad is wayyyy more expensive but it has procreate tho and i know that a loooot of digital artist prefer procreate than any other android app :)
I'm an artist from Indonesia hehey .. I'm also confused. but I prefer the s6 lite tab for sketching only. the color process I switched to computer
Deal with iPad isn’t bad tho
Get the tab s6 lite ..since the base I pad is just 32 gb ..u can get 128 gb by adding another 100$ which is crap and the design of i pad looks outdated..i ordered my tab s6 lite 3 days ago and i fell i made the right decision..and all the apps of ipad are paid.
@@diananjasputra1698 I personally prefer Samsung due do how I bought an iPad air 3rd generation and it wouldn't pair with my Apple pencil 1st generation and when I bought procreate in had to buy it twice! Beacsue it wouldn't load but it's just from personal experience.
I purchased this tablet after Brad's review, and installed Infinite Painter on it, and it's fantastic. I mostly use it as a digital sketchbook though and haven't tried painting in it yet. Just wanted to thank Brad for this review and for the review of Android apps, they helped me decide which tablet to buy :) P.S. pen rejection works flawlessly for me if I enable pen only mode.
Hey what about making digital notes, is it good enough?
@@sirewangpho5146 I think it's pretty decent at taking notes. There's a button on your screen and the side of the pen that you can press at any time to start making notes. However, I don't know how small you want to write because it becomes pixelated (when zooming in to make smaller notes) pretty fast. Things seem to be a bit harder to use when you're left-handed, like me, and I haven't found a setting that accomodates that yet (though there might be one I haven't found yet). If you're more worried about the feel, it feels good when writing, the response is good and the writing sound effects are nice. I don't know if you have any specific questions, but all I'm gonna say is thatI'm planning to use this tablet alongside my laptop to make notes at school to compare them better, as right now I'm not sure what I prefer.
I just bought my tab s6 lite today. I realize that my screen near the volume button gets warm even when I'm not using my tablet at all. Is it normal and anyone experience the same thing?
Ps : I really need an answer bcs I plan to return it if mine is a faulty unit
hi i'm thinking abt buying it, do you think the colors change too much because of the lcd screen? i do digital kind of oil paintings, do you think it will be a bad choice?
@@karina-pj4xn hi, I know I'm late, but I'm thinking of buying this for note taking, how's your experience with it? Did your problem get solved? Pls reply

Lol I don't update 🙃😅🤣
Considering Brad's go to is an Ipad, this review is extremely complimentary to the Tab s6 lite.

@@yuvtube1 no, you should have gone for the [insert something even more expensive here].

I've been using this tablet for almost 9 months for remote teaching and I must say it saved my life and helped my students learn much better.
Just ordered one of these...haven't had a tablet since the Nexus 9...this is gonna be such an upgrade! Great summary video thank you 🤓
What people need nowadays is simple: A cheap windows Tablet for school with a stylus that isnt as crappy or expensive as the n-trig Surface ones. It should also be able to work as a streaming device. Paired with the "Always on" feature and amazing battery life, this would crush the Surface lineup, provided that the device can run X64 executables.
Problem is in windows itself, I've bought cheap older surface on discount recently and it barely moves under new fresh install of windows, the simplest task generate seconds of delay, windows is not a portable system.
@@randomnickify i agree windows is sh*t especially windows 10 even high end pc gets error because of that os
Wth.. Everyone can buy what they want..?
@@randomnickify They want to make a new Windows so bad, but they waited too long and half a**'d it Microsoft waits too long to do everything. The good thing though is that the basic office apps are on Android and Ios, so you really don't need Windows anymore at least not until you need to run some specialized legacy software. UWP was a good idea, but they're already giving up on it...
yeah, I too want iPad pro level device for $50.
Hey Brad! To get rig of these stripes on your Amoled screen you can set your camera's shutter speed to fixed 1/60 sec (don't use auto setting). This will sync your camera shutter with 60Hz display, so you will not get this strobes on the video. This is pretty common issue based on how modern digital camera's shutter works. Hope this will help someone!
I was about to buy the Tab s6 but ended up waiting for the S6 lite to be released. It was worth it, the video really nails on all the reason why I bought it. It comes down to simply being cheaper and not suffering in performance. I love this tablet.
Hey brad, i bought this because of your review. Was deciding between the s6 or the lite, and no regrets with the lite here. Everything you said is SO TRUE. I have an s10 so i was a bit worried with the TFT display. It's decent actually, might even be better than what i previously expected having used the s10. Saved myself a huge chunk of money by going for this instead of the s6. Thanks man 👍
To think that I've watched this video many times, dreaming of this item and finally getting it after a few months of saving?
It's such a good product for an affordable price. I remember of squealing too much because I could finally hold this tablet. Still has some ups and downs' but it is still a pretty good device.
Im thinking of getting one, what are the downs if you could tell me
@@vvenvvs hello! thank you for being interested to ask about it ^^ i've been using it for almost a year and a half now and there's still much to explore. i would say i've explored 60% at best of the tablet's capabilities.
actually i'm pretty sure if you search most of 'how to'-s journalling and etc; by using this tablet is already showing a lot of what it is capable of. althought this tablet is affordable and most of the time i enjoyed the experience, there are some cons that i would consider for anyone who would like to think before buying one-
firstly, depending on the person using it, some people may think the screen is quite big- i love the big screen but it can a headache if you just want to use it for reading. either you would have to zoom in or zoom out rather than preferring the default settings of the font, type sizes. some of my friends prefers smaller screen and some prefer larger. so it totally depends on what you're comfortable to use.
for me the cons would be coming from the pen itself. as much i love the smoothness and the glideness of the pen when i write on to the screen, the nib is easily wears off and there's no official nibs replacement. You probably have to buy the plastic one and i dont recommend for you to write or push them hard on to the screen to avoid scratches.
for the tablet it self. the disappointment i had is for the use of samsung dex. even if it has been added to the s6 lite, you can't connect to any device like the others can. but there are some third party apps that you can use to do that. just need to look for the right one.
since the tablet has a memory of 64gb and 4 ram, they can be quite small for some people who do task heavily even for drawing. there are times when i do a lot of sketches and drawings for my project heavily on the tablet, the lag became more prominent the more you use it. so suggestion would be to avoid doing heavy tasks on it or do them one at a time rather than in one setting.
for wifi version it may be a bit harder for you to find connection to some wifi places and i would much recommend the sim card one. but if you have a modem or would prefer to use hot spot than this may not be a con for you. (Since i bought the tablet through the education website, it's a bit more affordable but you probably need to confirm with your student email and any info that they needed before you can log in to the samsung education. since i'm broke and can only affrod the wifi version, this one is only based on my experience ^^)
my apologies for the bad grammar and mistakes and english is not my main language. but i hope some of these info might help you gain some insights on how the tablet is before buying it.
@@maibunzy thank you so much for this comment!!!
This is my first tablet, arrived today. I've had Samsung Galaxy phones for around 9/10 yrs so a fan anyway, currently on a S9+. Love the layout, easy to use and I think good value for money (£399GB) against the fully loaded S6. Bought primarily for a bigger screen without the use of a laptop or PC.
I just bought my tab s6 lite today. I realize that my screen near the volume button gets warm even when I'm not using my tablet at all. Is it normal and anyone experience the same thing?
Ps : I really need an answer bcs I plan to return it if mine is a faulty unit
@@karina-pj4xn Im a little late and that was probably already resolved but that's not an issue with mine i believe
Thank you for the review, Brad.
I took the plunge and picked up one of these off of Amazon for only $277.
Being an old school doodler that spent my life drawing on scrap paper and whatever pen or pencil was lying around I am curious to see what kind of work I can pull off with a device that gives me almost limitless options. I plan on following up with your other reviews of the software available for Android and I hope to take what I know and apply it to what I learned from your insight.
Thank you again for all of your work on videos like these!
How did your doodling go? :)
I'm at the point where I've just about got everything I need for drawing, but I still watch these videos because he has such a fun way of explaining the tools.
Just for fun i bought a S-Pen recently for my S21 and installed Sketchbook, and man, the quality and feel blew me away. Was pretty close to my wacom pad, just with the added feature of seeing your lines directly where you draw them. Of course the smart phone size means it's pretty much like drawing on a paper notebook. For hobbyists like me, who won't buy a 1k+ $ drawing tablet with built in screen, that's still a completely new experience. Gotta get that s6 Lite ASAP, finally a decent sized, quality screen to draw on, that doesn't cost as much as a used car.
...is it just me or is this the first time Brad has used such a wide stereo background music? It's nice, hearing it bounce between L and R speakers! Nice touch Brad!
As an illustrator, I was a bit skeptical of this device because of the input delay. But it doesn't look too bad and you did a good job with your drawing so I might buy into this. I'm tired of connecting my drawing tablet all of the time too so it's definitely time to invest in an upgrade.
I came for this comment. I just bought kamvas pro 13 and it's great but just for indoors mostly. I just want something I don't have to connect to my PC Everytime and take anywhere.
One word that I will buy it:
HEADPHONE JACk
That's two words (sorry, I had to)
The S6 Lite does have a Headphone Jack. The full S6 does not.
That's two words lol haha I just had to heh
Headphone jack ftw, bluetooth cant compare to high end wired headphone/earphone
Not if it was said like HEADPHONEJACK HA GOTTEM
I was going to buy ipad pro but I thought it was just crazy that I’d have to buy the pen separately! So I decided to buy tab s6 instead and it’s amazing! I’m so happy with it. It sucks that procreate is not available in android but I’m using ibis paint and it’s also great, lot’s of brush to choose from and it’s free!
After watching your tab s6 review by accident when looking into the s6 Lite, I decided to buy one of these after a few seconds of watching this as I trust you 😂 I haven't had a new tablet since my 2012 iPad mini which is now useless. Can't wait to try this! Thanks
Always a delight watching your reviews for artists. Your lighting and presentation has gotten a lot better too.
I just got mine this week and I have been loving it! So nice for portable drawing!
glad you like it, i'm planning to buy one. does it support apps where you can upload jpeg images and edit images directly? thank you 🙏
I reviewed it myself, and I must say I love my Galaxy Tab S6 Lite !
I wanted to test the Galaxy Tab S6 but the price blocked me...
So when the Lite was annouced I was really happy.
I got one after my Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S Pen (2019) and everything is better, the screen, the stylus, the sound, and the specs too. My Tab A is my secondary phone even if my S6 Lite is also 4G compatible ^^
I have the same feeling than you Brad, apps are android's cons, but I really love the S Pen, and just like you prefer being able to magnetize it at the side instead of behind. But I prefere another thing : the stylus itself. The Galaxy Tab S6 S Pen has got a strange form factor I really don't like especially the tip. My STAEDLER Noris Digital works well too.
For the apps, unlike you Brad I prefer Infinite Painter and Sketchbook Pro, more than Artflow, because of the lack of tilt support on Artflow. I find the strokes less "realistic' because of that, more "digital". That's also something I prefer on Clip Studio than Medibang on Windows.
Anyway, as always great review :)
Thanks Brad !
PS : you made me want the blue version :'(
But it was not available at launch with LTE support :(

I just got home with one of these tablets. I am looking forward to drawing with it! The included pen was definitely the deciding factor between this and an iPad of any kind... unless I would have taken a risk on a used/refurb tablet.
I've always used Apple...I've had the amazon fire tablets in the past but that wasn't a great experience... i wanted a cheap tablet for on the go - I got it with the case, which was free at the time... I am very pleasantly surprised. I love the pen for writing - the apple pencil is great for drawing but has a horrible writing experience. While my iPad remains my main device, because of the size (it's the 12.9" one) it does tend to stay on my desk... the s6 lite is great for when I just want to pick up and go or chill on the sofa and do normal day to day stuff.
I'd definitely recommend this device

My wife bought it, never used it, I grabbed it and I love it, other than the CPU chip is not the best for gaming the tablet does an amazing job for all other stuff media related, size is just on point big enough to enjoy videos but small enough to carry it around also speakers sound amazing, if this thing had a proper USB C it would have been beyond amazing, be able to connect it to a monitor as it as out of the box would have been great but cant complain at the price range it was a very good purchase back then when we got it don't know currently there might be better options.
The fact that dex is on the s6 lite made it even more compelling to pick one up..... Maybeee

Picked up for $219 from Amazon today. Have the Tab 3, Tab Are, looking forward to using the S6 lite for drawing.
I'm pretty sure tab s6 is really cool and this review showing the capabilities is the s6 lite proves that Samsung is doing things right, I have the tab s4 and it has replaced my laptop in so many ways. I do recommend Samsung products if you are into digital art.
I’m considering getting the tab s6 Lite or the tab s4. Which would you recommend?
I just bought one of these - i'm really enjoying it. I moved to this from an old 10.5" iPad pro and apple pencil and this feels like a better fit. Each to their own, though - but I like this one.
really? better than the Ipad? do you use it for drawing?
I'm really surprised that an artist can't tell the difference between OLED and LCD. The difference is pretty stark.
I searched it up and found nothing ;~;
especially when the LCD is TFT
but he told you the difference? xd
Yeah I'm buying this tommorow, and get started on digital art thank you Brad. Going to watch your tutorials on getting started!!
so how is it?
The thing is for most average users you never tell what’s different until you have both tablets side by side
I have had this tab for 3 yesrs and its great for videos and drawing and note taking
Just got the tab s6 lite two days ago and the latest software update has samsung Dex now
After an hour of looking for a decent review about drawing on this tablet I finally found this video! Thank goodness and thank you! It was exactly what I needed
What turns me off about the s6 lite and many of the android tablets is the large length to width ratio. That's the only thing that's pushing me towards an iOS tablet.
Hello Brad,
I‘ve been a long time subscribers of yours (before 50K). I Juste wanted to tell you congratulation on the quality of this video! I was looking at some older videos that you made some time ago and boy oh boy the difference! Particularly the head shot talking scene. I don’t know if you upgraded your light set up but there is a big difference. The video editing is also very well made and well balance (between head shots, product shots and drawing shots). Very nice touch on the music but not when you are talking (thank you very much it makes it soooo much easier to understand). And the informations are top notch!
Keep up the good work and thank you very much for these very high quality reviews.

Loved the video! Can you do a comparison between this and the iPad 7th gen? I'm interested in seeing the ways in which this is the better option.
I mean you have convinced me too buy it but me as a broke student and child of parents who are in debt its impossible to get it but you lift my spirits and help me feel active everyday and i have a passion in art and want to get better hope i can get stuff like this one day love you...!!!
I would kill to see a review by you of Clip Studio Paint on THIS TAB once it’s released on Android!
Watching Brad who i think is more into apple and Shane who i think is more into samsung makes me see different reviews, pros and cons, and this made choosing which device to buy easier for me
