September 1970 - Interviews with goalie George Gardner, defenceman Gary Doak, team captain Orland Kurtenbach, defenceman Pat Quinn, and coach Hal Laycoe COURTESY: CBC Vancouver
Watched Gary Doak playing for many years but never saw him interviewed before. The Bruins liked him enough that they brought him back and he stayed for a long time the second time around as one of Don Cherry's pluggers.
let's not forget he also coached the 1979-80 Flyers squad to that incredible 35 game unbeaten streak (still a record) as a very young coach at the time
Spoiler alert: Vancouverites did not fill the Coliseum very often. Couldn't even sell out playoff games sometimes. Total fairweather sports city that ignores a team unless it wins.
These guys were dogging it like us old beer leaguers and they were in their prime! Watching these guys skate reminds me of my dad and those old school skates which he kept using up until he couldn't skate anymore. Swore by them.
Bill Good, Jr. is the interviewer.

Where'd you fine this ? Great stuff . Hilarious interview with Pat Quinn
Yeah Pat Quinn was a good guy ...flattened Bobby Orr
Wow, fantastic!!!
Love it!!!!!
Those uniforms are classic! They've never done better than that blue and green.
@2:20 A young Pat Quinn, 20 years later becoming both General manager and coach of the Vancouver Canucks!

A skate down memory lane 👍
Very enjoyable.

Not sure if I love it or am horrified by their lack of skill. 🙂
My father actually took me to two games that year, lots of fun as a kid.

Michael Keaton could star in 'The Hal Laycoe Story'.
Any idea what rink(s) this was at? Looks like it might be two different sheets of ice.
Do you have the whole Rangers v Habs Game 1 of 1996 playoffs?
A few weight problems? LOL
That first year Canuck squad was actually pretty good. Too bad that they went rapidly downhill for the next, oh, twenty seven years or so. Sigh.
They certainly weren't as terrible as some other first-year clubs.
