Looking back at it after stepping away from the Arkhamverse for so long has really changed my perspective on the Arkham Knight, especially after all the new Jason Todd stories we've been given. The main criticisim I've seen regarding the handling of the character is that Jason in the comics didn't blame Bruce for letting him die and was trying to prove to him that his way of dealing with crime is better (that and the reveal was predictable). But given the circumstances of the Arkhamverse with Joker being dead and all, it was a good opportunity to do something familiar in a new way. Aside from having the same name, the Jason Todd of the Arkhamverse is fundamentally a different character from his comic counterpart, not only did he survive Joker's torture and has a different name, the trauma he carries from Joker is far worse than what comic Jason ever experienced. But also his motivation. As mentioned earlier, Jason in the comics was just out to be a better Batman, but in the Arkhamverse Jason despises the very concept of Batman. Jason isn't trying to show Batman a better way of dealing with crime he's just out to show Batman his hypocricy before killing him. He thinks he's the culmination and a literal representation of all of Batman's failures, hence the Arkham Knight. He's more misguided and less calculated than his comic counterpart which means he's more easily swayed. We see in the audio tapes that it was his idea to clear Gotham of civilians, I interpret it as him getting innocent people out of the way as his vendetta was just purely directed towards Batman. In another tape he even went out of his way to keep Barbara safe and showed his vulnerable side to her, even asking about Alfred, subconsciously he knows he's wrong which is why he deflects all of Barbara's pleas. When it came time to actually face Bruce the layers are finally peeled both figuratively and literally and he realised it's all just Joker's influence from the grave. Under his knight in shining armour he's wearing something reminiscent of what Joker wore in his early days. Joker made Batman out to be this malicious figure who put everyone else after his mission and also makes him think Batman replaced him in a heartbeat. But what he actually sees is that Batman is nothing like what Joker made him out to be and that's what turns him. In trying to expose Batman's contradictions he exposes his own. He didn't want to admit it because in doing so it would mean he wouldn't have an easy target to take his anger out on, it would mean confronting his fear. Bruce's and Jason's fears about the Joker are very much intertwined and so is the resolution with them ultimately overcoming it together in the climax at Arkham Asylum. That's what made this interpretation justified in my opinion. For me what makes this handling of the character even more potent is that it resonates with the primary theme of the game, which is to challenge the very core of Batman both physically and mentally. Not only is Batman facing the biggest threat he's ever faced, but his very identity is being called into question. Sprinkled throughout the game are some hidden gems that serve to showcase this. In the story and side missions we see Batman grappling with how to handle both his villains and allies. With the side missions we see how the villains (and Joker if you complete them before the ending) tear into Batman and the apparent contradictions in his crusade. For example, with Riddler it's shown how he's letting go of himself because of his obsession and the police informant in GCPD even said he felt sorry for him and it was Batman's fault he ended up like that. It's very much reminiscent of the whole "Batman and his criminals running around a revolving door" critique with his allies getting caught in the crossfire with Jason being a literal reminder. Even though he's assured by all of them that they're fighting with him and not against him, the question is more so whether being Batman is sustainable in the long run and his answer was the Knightfall protocol. As he said, some things you can't do alone, but some things you have to. By burning down the existing identity of Batman, he's freed his allies from the burden of being endagered by proxy and it also empowers them to be the best versions of themselves. Nightwing taking care of Blüdhaven, Robin and Oracle taking care of Gotham with Gordon looking after them all. While he himself is able to reivent the identity of Batman fron the ashes and really shape the mythology into one that strikes fear into the crimimals of Gotham. And Jason? Like Batman he's embraced his fear and is out and proud as the Red Hood dealing judgement to the criminals thay deserve it.
One thing that's awesome is that if you do any free roam militia stealth missions like say the watchtowers before the Jason reveal. He will talk over the radio to the troop while they look for you giving them advice like keeping an eye on vents and vantage points. I'm not sure if this is true but I've been told that tge Militia are even programmee to be a bit more proactive in finding you when the Knight is in charge instead stead of Deathstroke. Stuff like placing mines on the vantage points more as well as grouping together better.

@Hello There Red Hood in the comics and Arkham Knight are fundamentally very different characters. Jason survived after being tortured by Joker for a year so his experiences are shaped very differently compared to his comic counterpart. In Under the hood, Jason doesn't blame Bruce for not saving him, he just wants to show him a better way of being Batman. In the Arkhamverse, all Jason wants is Bruce dead and despises the very concept of Batman. Jason in the Arkhamverse is very much more misguided compared to his calculated comic counterpart which makes him more easily swayed. We see in the audio tapes how he protected Barbara and showed her his vulnerable side. We also hear that he's the one who suggested Gotham be evacuated of civilians because his vendetta is not towards any innocent people, it's just towards Batman. While it may seem shallow by comparison, there's more to it than that. I think it's very much justified in relation with the larger narrative. The game fundamentally is about calling into question Batman's very identity by challenging him both physically and mentally to the extreme. Jason thinks he's the culmination of Batman's failures coming back to bite him, which is probably why he fittingly named himself the Arkham Knight. He thinks he's gonna show Batman that his mission is fundamentally about self-gratification but when he actually confronts Bruce he realises that it's just the Joker getting to him from the grave, something Bruce very much understands. Joker made Bruce out to be this malicious figure who'll put anyone before his mission and also replace him in a heartbeat without even bothering to look for him. But when he actually confronts Batman, the reality is much different. The layers are peeled back both figuratively and literally. Under the knight in shining armor he's literally wearing something reminiscent of what Joker used to wear. For all his talks of exposing Batman's contradictions he exposed his own. Batman *did* search for him, he *did* mourn him. Jason knows this, Barbara even tried to tell him but he deflected it because admitting would mean he wouldn't have an easy target to take out his anger on, it would mean facing his fears. And the very message of the story is about confronting fear, Bruce's and Jason's fears about the Joker are intertwined and so was the resolution with them confronting it together at the story'a climax in Arkham Asylum. As the dust settles, Jason is able to emerge embracing his fears as his new persona the Red Hood. Ultimately, I think it's justified for Rocksteady to call Arkham Knight a new character because their intepretation of Jason is totally different from the comics aside from him being called Jason Todd and running into the Joker as the 2nd Robin.
@Hello There Phew I definitely didn't expected to have that much to say. But with all the interpretations of Jason we've gotten recently I think it's fair to say there's plenty to go around.

5:04 - KEEP PUSHING HIM, KEEP FIGHTING HIM. WEAR THE BASTARD DOWN!
5:09 - YOU CALL YOURSELF MERCENARIES!? I EXPECT BETTER!

5:17 - DAMN IT HE'S HERE! OPEN THE DOOR, OPEN THE DOORS!
5:20 - LIGHT EM UP!
5:22 - (*Frustrated grunt*) SUPPORT CLASS, DO YOUR DAMN JOB!!
5:26 - SOMEBODY DEAL WITH HIM!
5:28 - I do. Let's show him what it means to go to war.
5:32 - Im gonna rip that cape off your back and CHOKE YOU WITH IT!
5:35 - Death is coming, Dark Knight, you will not escape it.
5:39 - This war is already lost. It's OVER for you.
5:44 - Scarecrow is gonna tear you apart.
5:48 - It's inevitable. HE WILL KILL YOU!
5:52 - FAILURE. It awaits you.
5:54 - You really wanna know marching over those bridges? That's just more blood on your hands.
6:01 - Ugh
6:02 - NO NO!!! (*Heavy breathing*) You'll see me again.
6:08 - I did it! I wanted more.
6:11 - Is that it?
6:13 - Heh, not yet Dark Knight.
6:16 - You didn't think I was gone did you nooo, no you knew better.
6:22 - You get knocked down, you pick yourself up again. Hmm? See I learned that from an old friend.
6:29 - You can't hurt me but I can hurt you.
6:33 - You'll regret that.
6:35 - HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
6:37 - YEAH
6:39 - This is it. I want you to imagine this city. A city broken, and crushed under our feet.Take that picture, hold on to it...... and go make it happen.
6:53 - DIE!!
6:55 - You can't stop me, you're gonna die down here. FORGOTTEN. IN THE DIRT.
7:02 - You won't stop me, you won't escape. IT ALL ENDS HERE!!
7:07 - Your wrong savior; and I'm gonna show you how wrong you are.

7:15 - YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM ME!! I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!!!
7:20 - HE IS GOING TO DIE.
7:23 - WE'RE DONE CRANE. I OWE HIM!
7:26 - I DID IT. Cornered you. Done what no one else could. All these years, all your enemies... but none of them understands you like I do. You think Crane found Oracle on his own? I'm the one who told him about Barbara. Me! I told you I knew everything about you, didn't I? Dont worry Bruce, I kept some secrets to myself. ( I know some of this line isn't in the vid but I like it so bite me)
7:38 - LOOK AROUND BATMAN, LOOK AT ALL THE GOOD YOU'VE DONE!!
7:41 - DIE!!
7:42 - YOU THINK YOU CAN OUTWIT ME! YOU THINK I'M JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHERS!!
7:47 - Come back when you can see Batman, I don't want a mercy kill, I want a fight.
7:52 - Aww what's wrong, reactions slowing down? MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST GIVE UP!!
7:58 - Nice shooting. I wish I could be in there but y'know you'd just hold back.
8:03 - Soooo you've still not lost your touch? Good. It's gonna make this so much more interesting.
8:11 - THIS ENDS TONIGHT.
8:13 - TIME TO DIE OLD MAN.
8:15 - Hahahahahahaha, keep your guns trained on him. If he even looks like he's planning to leave that room open fire- OH and avoid the bat symbol its a- uh, it's a little trick, it's where his armors are the strongest. Aim for the weak spots at the shoulders first then coordinate fire at the points where the plates meet.
8:37 - Always defending the weak and the helpless, that's what I like about you, PREDICTABLE. And that's why we're gonna win! We know your move before you do, WE KNOW HOW YOU THINK!
8:48 - Haha, of course. You're thinking who the hell is this guy.
8:55 - And just so we're both on the same page here I fully, fully intended to kill you, but FIRST. We're gonna make you suffer.
9:05 - You'll regret this
9:07 - YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, THERE ARE NO SECOND CHANCES WITH THIS GUY!
9:11 - Just say the word and I'll end this now. Gotham will be ours.
9:16 - COME ON THEN HERO, LETS SEE IF YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH ME!!
9:20 - You haven't won.TONIGHT. YOU PAY. FOR EVERYTHING!!!
9:26 - THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE FINAL EVACUATION ORDER! ANYONE LEFT BEHIND WILL DIE PAINFULLY, AND AFRAID SO MOVE IT
9:35 - To all embedded units in Gotham, OPERATION SAVIOR has begun. Each one of you has a role, each of you KNOWS YOUR ROLES. So move out of this damn city and lock it down. I want our hands wrapped tight around Gothams throat within the hour!
9:52 - You are listening, aren't you Batman? Then listen to this. He's searching for hostages, keeping non-essential radio chatter to a minimum, he'll be listening.
10:03 - Im WATCHING.
10:05 - You never stood a chance Batman, not against this army and not against me.
10:12 - I didn't want it to end like this Batman, I kinda hoped you'd put up more of a fight.
10:17 - Look at me while you die Batman. LOOK.AT.ME.
10:22 - This ends. TONIGHT.
10:26 - Turn around.
10:29 - You really have no idea...do you Bruce?
My favorite character of the game
@Arsesh Joshi it's his opinion relax
He sound so angry and demonic I love him😂😭

@@thatburnttoast1749It wasn't even the Knight who said that line.
It's the Militia soldier with his voice, the same guy Batman used the Batmobile to interrogate.
