      @@josephgouldingofficialmusic Kobe (6'6") used to post up LeBron (6'8")
      So, definitely.
      And Hakeem was 'only' 6'10" and dominated:
      Ewing 7'0"
      Robinson 7'1"
      Shaq 7'1
      He was agile and co-ordinated.
      Hakeem was strong and had good hops, I will admit, but was definitely shorter than guys he would beat.

      They lost their best defenders and can’t stop anybody now. Offense wasn’t and isn’t the issue, that’s why bringing Melo hasn’t translated to Ws bc he doesn’t help on that end. They need good defenders badly.
      Defense is still crucial part of the game even tho the league keeps moving away from it with these soft rules.

      Klutch that is a fact. Last year was fools gold. Yes they made it, but they did get swept. In my opinion once nurkic comes back they will be fine or in a better spot. And as we speak I believe they only 2 games out of the post season spot. But facing the facts. Melo is more of a ball stopper than he has ever been, I love melo but he still the black hole, and horrible defensively.. cj McCollum while offensively gifted is a under sized two and does not have James harden type weight to off set it. And is horrible defensively , always a liability. And dame dolla needs to pick a side. He needs to be more harden like in the first half then get his teammates involve he does every now and again, but every game he needs to come out and dominate, make that 27 ppg to 30 ppg. His team is struggling and he the best player he has to look within and tap into dominating the ball more in the beginning of games vs the ending. Also he gets exposed defensively as well but all point guards give each other buckets so that kind of off sets as well.

    Great video, Coach Nick!
    With a lot of emphasis on 2010s basketball, such as a Curry and Harden style of play, actually being able to Post Up will get you easier points, because people just won't really know what to do to defend it.
    And that bouncing, side to side, backdown is gold. Even fairly average defenders can resist a backdown.
    But using that bounding method is a key.
    They zig, we zag!

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  4 роки тому +2

      Yes! And it can be used a little farther from the basket too. Zion is great at it

    • @willhooke
      @willhooke 4 роки тому

      @@bballbreakdown Yes! It does not have to be done from the Block!
      You can start from 15-18' ~ which is a great spot against a 2-3 Zone, because it is a little way from the Center.
      The Center then has to scurry across to you (opening up for a Cut), or let you take a shot from the High Post.
      And the better your handle, the deadlier you are with a Post Game.
      The bounding, zig zag backdown was what I was missing.
      Thank you for including that!

    An interesting takeaway from this is the importance of footwork. No one had good footwork, the coaches we can all understand, but the Pacer guard was lacking there. In order to really do what coach Nick is teaching here you've gotta have the timing and rhythm down with your feet. Kobe and Hakeem could definitely have given a masterclass on it for this video.

    You know what I'd love to see? A 1-3 posting up a 5. The post game is all about positioning. The length can be an issue, but if a player has some moves, they can post a bigger fella occasionally. It's not a go to, but how demoralizing is it for a 5 to get posted and scored on by a smaller player? Obvs that it would be tiring for a smaller player to do constantly, but occasionally? Just to rub it in? Yes please.
