My program is 24 months and a failing grade for us is 78 and under. But I just had my last day of my first quarter! I definitely psyched myself out thinking it would be extremely hard, but I managed to pass with A's! To anyone reading this it really is not difficult if you just study!

Really do appreciate it, haven't decided on this from dropping my computer science degree, but it's good to hear that there's possible jobs in this after other people on reddit said the opposite.
I love your videos! I’m currently a second year student. I find that there’s not many videos on UA-cam about x-ray..there’s a ton of nursing ones it’s about time someone makes some about x-ray! 😊
You will likely need to have an ACT score and high school diploma to apply to most colleges, but you will have to research that for your specific school. There are radiologic technology programs offered at four-year universities for a bachelor's degree, or a two-year degree at community college's (which is what I am pursuing) for an associates in applied science degree.
My program earned me a bachelors degree! I went through 1 year of prerequisites and 3 years in the program. It was 2 years focused on X-ray, and then the last year was a modality (mine was MRI). I stayed in X-ray clinic once a week, and the rest of the week we had MRI clinic. The University of Iowa offers an online AS to BS degree if you were interested in furthering your degree in MR, CT or CVI! Otherwise there are always jobs out there that offer cross training!
Your videos have saved this girls life! I am a first gen college student who hasn't had anyone to turn to. I truly went in to my college experience blind and have had to adapt & learn as I go. These videos have helped me navigate this process. I am proud to say that I just got my official acceptance into my program a week ago. With my excitement also comes nervousness, but thankfully I can watch your videos to know what to expect moving forward. Thanks for putting in the time & effort to help people like me!
Yay! You're right, there aren't many videos about becoming a rad tech. I'm finishing my pre-reqs and just got admitted into the program for the summer start. So excited!
I really appreciated this video. I was most recently the past 3 years in hospitality as a flight attendant and loved it, but after my grams died my life changed and now I am looking into the medical field. Even at my age you can still change your life, thanks for the inspiration girl and all the tips. You have a new subbie! Much success and luck to you!! XX
The reason I found your channel was because I looked up day in a life of a x-ray tech since I am going into that field. I fell in love with your channel and your personality after watching your college day in my life videos. ❤️❤️❤️
I went through the Army for my training. It was nothing like a 2 year tech program, and literally only lasted me a year. The stuff these students go through now, I don’t envy one bit! 👍😎
Im stuck in between going to the army like you did or just do community college to become x ray tech. Was it more difficult since they’re cramming in more material in a shorter period of time? Did you have to do the same pre requisites?
@@Soychica13 this is late and a little different than your question. I was in the air force and became an ultrasound technician rather than mri/xray I would definitely have chosen radiology in the air force if I could go back though haha But I liked having the hands on experience the job gives through the military. I’ve been doing lots of ‘research’ on UA-cam about becoming a rad tech and your video and q&a was by far one of the best! Thank you! I was very nervous to look into it but now excited to start my journey
Keep going girl! I graduate from a bachelors program X-ray in May!!! I LOVE X-ray!! It’s such a great field. And I’m so glad you are loving it! Good luck 👩🏼🎓🙌🏻😍
My prerequisites were Anatomy and physiology + lab, chemistry + lab, physics + lab, algebra, English 101, medical terminology, communications and 100 hours of shadowing a radiologist technologist

THANK YOU for posting this video! I have been searching for a good UA-camr or videos for rad techs, and you’re the first one I came across! I am currently applying to a program in Colorado that sounds very similar to the one you are currently in (: in our application process they go off of grades, an essay, employer referrals, character reference referrals and a panel interview of 8 judges! And I look forward to watching more radiology videos from you! (: once again thank you for posting content like this!
Super interesting to hear how your program varies from mine! Thank you so much for watching, & I'm so glad you found it helpful :) good luck with your application!
Ohmar I just found out that I have been accepted! But they asked me a lot of behavioral based questions. Like why I want to be in this program, how I prioritize tasks, what type of people or personalities do I find hard to work with, what I think my greatest and weakest traits are, why I think I deserve a spot more than the other candidates, and they asked about any healthcare experience or volunteer experience

it’s cool to hear other people talk about their programs and how they’re so different!! in my program there was a interview process. and we don’t have pm or weekend rotations.
I wish my program did an interview process! It was honestly surprising to me how many people applied to my program not knowing what they were getting themselves into! I reallllly enjoy the pm shifts because there's definitely more of a variation of exams than during the day!
This was so useful thank you! I’m going to be a senior in high school and am looking to do this for a living but could not find any specific insight into the program so this was very useful! My school offers a lot of the prerequisites as dual credit so once I graduate I will have all of my prerequisites completed.

Thank you so much this was so helpful all you wanna see if people wanting to be nurses and those are the only videos available. I hope everything works out for you!
Hello, I just came across your video. I’ve wanted to do sonography however it’s super expensive and I wanted a less debt road. My counselor actually recommended for me to go into Radiology and then further my studies into sonography if I still want to. Thanks to your video, I was able to direct where I wanted to go.
Hi Kristine, Thank you for your insightful video on MRI technology. It was incredibly helpful! I am applying to an MRI school next week and would greatly appreciate a few minutes of your time for a short interview as part of my application process. Best regards, khalil
Nice to see a video on this! I’m currently about finish off my second semester in the same program, everything you’ve stated is on point. Good luck with everything! 😁
LOVE LOVE LOVE this video! and I am glad someone finally made a video like this! Love the barium enema comment at the end of that segment :,) I have done too many this past year it's sick.. LMAO good luck this semester!
Currently in my first semester for rad tech. I'm reeeeeeally glad I was in the military before doing this. A lot of my classmates get really stressed out about things and I'm like, "... Really?" Then again, few things stress you out after having to hand someone's arm back to them or perform first aid on a collapsed lung by using some tape and a plastic card. XD
Currently I'm Early Childhood Education student but I was looking into nursing for a back up career just in case and both x-ray and the regular nursing program at my college are to much for me for being someone who has a learning disability had a very hard time with the ECE program I'm now looking into Nursing Assistant. At the same time I'm so into becoming a teacher.
I went to Wisconsin for my school as well, but it didn’t last long it was not my cup of tea so I went for nursing instead. Awesome video as always 👍👍🚨💕😍
My prerequisites for rad tech are algebra, English 1 or 2, anatomy and physiology 1, psychology or sociology, medical terminology and medical assisting. Just a bit different!
Thanks so much for this video! So in-depth. Loved it ❤️ Your seriously like a super woman being in school and doing UA-cam at the same time. U Rock🥰 I personally procrastinate too much lol.
In my program, anything under a 80% was an F. Every program is different, but they all have the goal of getting your ready for your Boards. I just passed my test with a 90.
@@drummerkid1500 Are you talking about the Boards or school? When I was talking my Boards, I honestly thought I was failing the entire time, but I got a higher score on my Boards than I did on my mocks. So yes they were hard, but I did really well.
Just got accepted to Rad school in Cali 😍 I'm hoping to go for MRI after. The school I'm at is the only school in the state (that I've seen) that allows you to get MRI with your BS so I'm hoping to get my Bachlelors 😄🙏 thank you for ur videos. Helps alot!
@@JuliaKristine I love your tips and videos I'm prepping now and getting some compression sleeves and all the study stuff 😂 love following your journey, thanks for sharing you experiences 🙏
Argosy student here until they closed 😤 then got lucky and Northwestern Health sciences University luckily took us in! I’m in 2nd week of clinical training and definitely can relate with the nerves it’s now only us haha
Damn 2 years for prereqs!?!?!? I can see one year maybe ok but yeah 2 years to knock them out is ridiculous to me and I'm so glad that my program prereqs take 1 semester only if you double load your classes. Double loading classes is more stressful yes so I'm doing school full time while living off my savings making sure to keep my living expenses to the absolute bare minimum and I'm also very fortunate enough to be enrolled into one of the cheapest CC in my state. My program will take me roughly 2 years with all prereqs and core classes included to complete all while not having to work/take out loans since I'm using my savings. If I were to take out loans for the entire program it would cost me 8k at most so I'm thinking to maybe work a tiny bit, use a little bit of savings and take out very small loans if needed. Or maybe even take out a loan for the full 8k tuition and be able to pay it back easily lol.
If I took classes last year (bio and English) but I dropped both classes. Is there still a chance for me to retake those classes with a better grade and get accepted? Or the D/F completely would disqualify me from the program you went to?
Do you ever feel faint when working with traumas? I’m looking for tips on how to get better at visualizing and how to keep composure when working with severe conditions!
I haven't worked with too many trauma cases yet to give a ton of advice - I've mostly been in ORIF surgeries so far, but I've never really been one to feel too queasy/faint over things like that. The best thing that helps me in those situations is to kind of do controlled breathing or the "5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique." I've asked other technologists the same thing, & they all say it takes time to feel comfortable - plus everyone is a little different with their level of comfort! There are also some medical case instagram accounts that show different surgeries/material for educational purposes that might help you become more comfortable with seeing things like that! @medschoolposts is a good account!
Got accepted into the program for fall. Question: How do you memorize all of the procedures/protocols/details? Are we given a skills book to study before lab/clinicals? I'm ocd lol, I'm someone who likes to study steps over and over again. The thought of going to clinical and them just throwing me to the wolves without much memorization freaks me out a bit.
Every program is different, but my program didn't give me a skills book to bring to clinical. I learned it based on studying the material from my Bontrager textbook and physically positioning patients at clinical! My book did come with a pocketbook, however, we weren't allowed to have that out around patients. It's moreso just for reference when you have downtime. You'll do great! Don't sweat it :)
Thank you great video, you’re convincing me to not be afraid I keep switching my majors Rad tech is one of them. Something that put me off some time a go was the radiation exposure in the room someone talked about it in their video I’m gonna try to find it, would you say it’s safe and nothing to worry about?
Your radiation dosage is monitored by a dosimeter that you wear at your collar at all times, and we take precautions to protect ourselves by wearing lead aprons if we're going to be directly in the room or in fluoroscopy/surgery with the c-arm. But to answer your question, yes it is a safe profession.
Are there any helpful websites, UA-cam channels or apps that rad students recommend. I'm in my first semester and feeling a bit overwhelmed since it's all new to me 😅
I'm thinking of going into Xray, I'm finishing my associates this year and would only need one class class to enter into the program. I currently work in a hospital for Transport so I'm around the environment everyday and have been the last 6 years. So I'm trying to figure out which area I want to go into, I would love to do Ultrasound but the schools around me are super expensive even though I get reimbursement through my job, but I would also not be able to work while I would do that program, and I have bills to pay lol.
Hellooo, thank you so much for this video, it really encouraged me. I want to study radiography, searching for schools hasn't been easy😩 do you have any advice?
hmmm! Have you tried doing a google search of "*your state name* radiologic technology schools"? Either that, or search your neighboring states! Majority of the time, there are programs through technical/community colleges!
My program is 24 months and a failing grade for us is 78 and under. But I just had my last day of my first quarter! I definitely psyched myself out thinking it would be extremely hard, but I managed to pass with A's! To anyone reading this it really is not difficult if you just study!

I wish my program did an interview process! It was honestly surprising to me how many people applied to my program not knowing what they were getting themselves into! I reallllly enjoy the pm shifts because there's definitely more of a variation of exams than during the day!
Thanks for this video girl! I just got accepted to my X-ray program and start in May! I’m excited but nervous at the same time
ahhh congratulations! That's so exciting - you will do great :)
Mgomezz17 how long was you wait time?
Thank you so much for this, I’m still doing my pre requisites. This helps a lot!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
This was so useful thank you! I’m going to be a senior in high school and am looking to do this for a living but could not find any specific insight into the program so this was very useful! My school offers a lot of the prerequisites as dual credit so once I graduate I will have all of my prerequisites completed.
Super helpful!!! I plan to move to florida and start my radiology clases there and don’t know what to expect so this was amazingly helpful!!! Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
That's very exciting! Congratulations & good luck :)
Love this video, so helpful! I’ve actually been thinking of going into radiology so I’ve been wanting lots of videos to help!
I’m so glad it was helpful!
I’m starting my first RadT class in the morning. I am so nervous, but this helped so much!
Congrats!

You will do great! Good luck!
Aww..thanks so much..
How are you doing now?
Yess! This video helps so much! I hope this starts a wave of other X-ray tech videos on UA-cam.
Ahhh I hope so too! That would be so cool!
Thank you so much this was so helpful all you wanna see if people wanting to be nurses and those are the only videos available. I hope everything works out for you!

How’d it go?! I’m applying to the program at lone star north Harris
One LOVE your intro! Two this video was so cool to watch!! I’m work in interior design so it’s so cool to hear about other career paths 😘 ❤️
I loved interior design so much in high school! I think that would be such a cool career field to be in!
Your videos have helped me so much! I just finished up my first week of x-ray school. ☢️💙
that's so exciting!
Hello, I just came across your video. I’ve wanted to do sonography however it’s super expensive and I wanted a less debt road. My counselor actually recommended for me to go into Radiology and then further my studies into sonography if I still want to. Thanks to your video, I was able to direct where I wanted to go.
You just gained a new subscriber! Your videos are awesome!!! Love them!!!
Thank you!!
Hi Kristine,
Thank you for your insightful video on MRI technology. It was incredibly helpful! I am applying to an MRI school next week and would greatly appreciate a few minutes of your time for a short interview as part of my application process.
Best regards, khalil
This is soooo helpful! I'm finishing my pre-reqs and applying in the spring!
I really love your videos . Im currently a Rad tech student and I am highly subscribed to your channel.
Nice to see a video on this! I’m currently about finish off my second semester in the same program, everything you’ve stated is on point. Good luck with everything! 😁
That's so amazing! Best of luck to you too :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE this video! and I am glad someone finally made a video like this! Love the barium enema comment at the end of that segment :,) I have done too many this past year it's sick.. LMAO good luck this semester!
YAY I'm so happy that you liked it! HAHA girl, you are a PRO now!
Savannah Abraytis why are BEs sick?
Basically I have to stop working when I get in to my program this video is very helpful thank you
No, you will not have to stop working altogether
it looks like you love.... love what you are learning... this helped me thank you,,,
Currently in my first semester for rad tech. XD
Thank you so much for making this helpful video!! I feel so much better now. Now I’m excited 🖤
Wishing you luck! 💕
this was such a great video!! superrr informative.
Thank you so much for this video I was so scared to do it but now that I seen your video I feel like I could do it 😩💙
Did you only use rad tech book camp for study for the board ? Or did you use other things .
Did you study the questions in the learning lessons too ?
This was so helpful. Thank you, Julia!!
I'm so glad!!!
That's awesome that you found a path for you! You'll be a great teacher!
omg thank you I was so nervous about clinical
I got my Rad Tech program interview next month :D
I went to Wisconsin for my school as well, but it didn’t last long it was not my cup of tea so I went for nursing instead. Awesome video as always 👍👍🚨💕😍
I considered nursing at one point! it's an amazing career! thank you, Silah!
My prerequisites for rad tech are algebra, English 1 or 2, anatomy and physiology 1, psychology or sociology, medical terminology and medical assisting. Just a bit different!
thank you for commenting this!
This isn’t the case for all programs. Medical assisting is generally not needed.
Thanks so much for this video! So in-depth. Loved it ❤️ Your seriously like a super woman being in school and doing UA-cam at the same time. U Rock🥰 I personally procrastinate too much lol.
Sooo glad you liked it! AHH thank you! That means so much to me, but I definitely do my fair share of procrastinating too!
Great video! I’m starting my first semester on Wednesday. Too bad I rented the positioning book, I guess I have to buy it now lol.
this video helped me so much thank you!!
I love your room!
Thank you for doing this video! I am a 2nd year student!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I LOVE this thank you so much I am applying for the radiology program and this is very helpful ❤️
wishing you the best of luck! ☺️
Julia Kristine thank you so much ,love you’re videossss🤩❤️
I’m an endoscopy tech. There’s literally not one video of anyone who’s a endo tech. I feel so alone in this field lol
I hope you are doing well at your school Julia
My sister is interested in radiology! I’m gonna send this to her!❤️
awww yay! That is so exciting! I'm always here if she has any questions! ☺️
@@JuliaKristine My brother is wanting to start this fall semester taking x-ray classes.
This was super helpful, thanks so much for sharing!!
so glad it was helpful!
I'm persueing radiology and even tho it's different for every university, i guess this will be helpful :)
In my program, anything under a 80% was an F. Every program is different, but they all have the goal of getting your ready for your Boards. I just passed my test with a 90.
Mary Skelton were they hard?
@@drummerkid1500 Are you talking about the Boards or school? When I was talking my Boards, I honestly thought I was failing the entire time, but I got a higher score on my Boards than I did on my mocks. So yes they were hard, but I did really well.
I need you to drop a hair care video/ bleach process please. It’s beautiful! 😫😍
I am going to a community college to and the only prerequisites are A&P 1 and A&P 2 (lecture and lab) to apply.
Just got accepted to Rad school in Cali 😍 I'm hoping to go for MRI after. The school I'm at is the only school in the state (that I've seen) that allows you to get MRI with your BS so I'm hoping to get my Bachlelors 😄🙏 thank you for ur videos. Helps alot!
that is such a cool opportunity! congratulations & best of luck! :)
@@JuliaKristine I love your tips and videos I'm prepping now and getting some compression sleeves and all the study stuff 😂 love following your journey, thanks for sharing you experiences 🙏
This was so informative! Thanks for sharing xo
I'm so glad you benefited from it!!
Argosy student here until they closed 😤 then got lucky and Northwestern Health sciences University luckily took us in! I’m in 2nd week of clinical training and definitely can relate with the nerves it’s now only us haha
I toured Argosy way back when for sonography!
Congrats on getting accepted!!
Thanks for doing this video. Answered most of my questions. Good luck with your future classes.
Thanks a lot, I’m really interested in the field and going into college to get my degree in this field.
Whoot whoot!! Shout out to Wisconsin peeps
yessss
Sonny with a chance
Great video! I am doing pre reqs and considering nursing or x ray tech 🖤
Thanks Julia I really like your video.
Thank you for this !!!
Im currently doing my pre reqs and I don’t have to take pyschs or chemistry.
Are there any helpful websites, UA-cam channels or apps that rad students recommend. I'm in my first semester and feeling a bit overwhelmed since it's all new to me 😅
@radgirlchronicles on tiktok is great!!
I'm thinking of going into Xray, I'm finishing my associates this year and would only need one class class to enter into the program. I currently work in a hospital for Transport so I'm around the environment everyday and have been the last 6 years. So I'm trying to figure out which area I want to go into, I would love to do Ultrasound but the schools around me are super expensive even though I get reimbursement through my job, but I would also not be able to work while I would do that program, and I have bills to pay lol.
what do you use for your hair its so shiny & healthy !!! sorry out of topic 💖🥲
Julia Kristine I'll try that. Thank you☺.
Awesome video. I wish you the best.
Thank you very much!
